It's not going to get any better. The cops will not protect you, and if you try to protect yourself, you will be jailed. Do you want to watch your wife/mother/daughter get raped? Do you want to watch your business burned to the ground? Do you want to get your head bashed in while you're in your car? That's where all of this is going. And if you fight back you will be punished, and potentially maimed/killed in jail.
The latter has happened to a Jan.6 protestor who met some black prison guards who don't like whitey.

I'm a pretty big cynic, but not even I imagined a future where American corporations loudly and publicly sent big money to domestic terror groups.

How hard do MPLS business owners need to pucker up in advance of their insurance renewals?
Why would it affect insurance rates? Civil disorder tends to be one of those occurrences that is not contractually covered. Or am I wrong?

This has been established as the default response to police shootings*, and the people who want to loot and burn sh#t down thirst for the next opportunity to party, and no one in our country's leadership seems interested in doing a dang thing about it. So, it will continue.
Getting upset at the disparity between conservative protesters and antifa/#BLM rioters is not worth the energy. The people now running the country have no shame. The hypocricy is the point: we will be made to understand we are second-class citizens whose lives can be destroyed by them or the mob at any moment. From the link in the EMT: https://tinyurl.com/eee4tkf5
. . . it boils down tothe importance of recognizing when the rules of the game have fundamentally changed, and therefore the old, tried-and-true, approach not only no longer can be expected to work, but clinging to it will be disastrous.

It's happened before. When your adrenaline is up you start moving on automatic. There was an incident years ago where a cop was trying to subdue a suspect and reached for his taser and instead grabbed his gun.
I believe a number of departments shifted to carrying tasers on the opposite side precisely to prevent that sort of accident.

I propose An Experiment.
Select two to five Blue Cities, with (D) governance at the mayoral/council level, going back at least fifty years.
Don't "defund" the police in those cities.
Rather, remove their sidearms from the Bat Belt, altogether. They can still have a shotgun or even an AR in the trunk of the squad car, but nothing ready to hand.
Let them "police" on the British "Bobby" model, with a baton, maybe some pepper spray. Taser? Up for discussion, I suppose.
"Police Shootings of Innocent Black Men" stats will plummet. "Police being SHOT BY Innocent Black Men" stats will skyrocket. That's my prediction, anyway.
But why not go ahead and conduct this experiment? Minneapolis, Chicago, Baltimore, St. Louis, Portland?

I've seen a few mix ups between tasers and pistols. It shouldn't happen, but it does. That said, I don't care. After everything that has happened in the last year, I couldn't care less who burns their cities, or gets shot by cops trying to flee.
I'm tired of what this country has become, and I'm tired of there assholes think they have more rights than others because of their pigment.

I believe that Ann Coulter (pbuh) has made the point that lady cops need to resort to weapons (tasers and guns) sooner than male cops do because they do not have the physical strength to overpower the average male suspect.

If the media doesn't report it, does it happen?
In your model, I predict that police shooting will mysteriously increase, but will NOT be reported by the media. In a short period of time, there will be a rash of "retirements" and the police force will not have enough officers. They will lower the standards exponentially and all those new "officer" positions will be filled by gang bangers, criminals and psychopaths, who will proceed to assault, rape and kill whitey. That won't be reported either.

Heh, yes, bad idea. We all know how that ends: the police, for their own safety, decide to only enforce laws on the law-abiding. The ones they most vigorously pursue are critics (see Tommy Robinson, people who misgender on twitter), people who defend themselves (not the criminals), etc. -- the non-dangerous, non-criminal regular people who have a legit job, family, and mortgage they don't want to lose.

Did you guys see the shooting in NYC where a guy with a knife went after two female LEOs? It was a total clusterfuck.
https://youtu.be/EYJMRz_dKaM
One cop runs outside, leaving her partner behind, in the shop, with the man with the knife. The cop inside hides behind the unarmed shop owner. In the badge cam you can see one female officer can't even hold her gun right. When the female officer shoots the guy, he's unarmed AND there's another officer directly in the line of fire.

But that would have meant Jared, Ivanka, and their circle would have been shunned from their elite cocktail parties and shit. There is the rumor - just that, so who knows - that Trump tried to invoke the Insurrection Act to put down the problem and his military commanders told him to fuck off, and this is why he sent DHS to do the job in a couple of places. I have no idea if that is true or not, but it may well have been - which means that any political considerations no longer applied. If the military won't follow orders, you're not in charge.

The urban blight; burnt out buildings or lots filled with debris give the area a wartime atmosphere. This lowers the morale of those who have to live there and attracts those who can't afford to live elsewhere and these are the same people who run a neighborhood down by their presence.
There are places in LA and Jersey that have NEVER been rebuilt. A lot of Detroit was like that and is why lot's of folks moved out.
It's like pest infestation. The damage is obvious and obvious why. The people who could stabilize the neighborhood can't get insurance or a loan to buy property in the area. The city loses tax revenue as the area goes into a tail spin and other neighborhoods that weren't directly affected lose business and homes also.
It's a downward spiral.

There is no political value, but BLM leaders may want to stage street reparations now and again in order to keep the donations flowing in an off year. As you say, the question is whether BLM will respond to control attempts, or go rogue.

Cripes, people, just STOP resisting arrest. If BLM (and its other affiliates, the schools, media, etc) want to fix this, they should be telling people NOT to resist arrest.
There is no right to resist lawful arrest. That sucks from a libertarian perspective, but that's the law AFAIK.

A lot of departments require you have lethal cover if you're going to taze someone. Usually what happens is the officer with the tazer gets way too close. They deploy the tazer. The tazer fails to work. The perp rushes the officer with the tazer. The lethal cover is scared to shoot because they don't want to hit the officer getting rushed. Bedlam.

I posted a link to a video a while back where a couple of chubby female bobbies in the UK were trying to arrest some scrawny white guy.
He pushed the two of them away and just sort of jogged off - and neither cop could keep up with him. And really, what were they going to do? If he didn't want to cooperate they weren't going to be able to arrest him without a gun.

What they want is martial law so as to further lock down the civilians and to lend weight to any ROE that allows shooting at civilians.
They will then use the military to invade people homes in search of illegal contra band. This won't violate posse comitatus and there will be police along to arrest any who survive.
And yes it's bloody and yes a lot of the ones targeted will be POC. But that too is a feature not a bug.
You don't have to be a target of an illegal search to be afraid for your property so you no longer protest, or join others or talk on line.
I'd be willing to bet that if they had not come down so hard on the folks at DC in Jan 6 that there would have been more protests there since then.
They threw a bucket of cold water on citizens rights and the next move would've had to have been armed confrontation and on one is quite there yet.
It's hard to believe that the Dems are cooking this up but then they're getting help.

There was an old German twitter account - "onlinemagazin" that would post videos of refugee violence and other crime in Europe, inc;uding a lot of videos demonstrating how near-impossible it is for a bunch of unarmed cops to do much of anythinbg when, say, they are faced with a crazy, knife-weilding dude, or when attempting an arrest while surrounded by an angry mob. Particulalrly futile when the cops are tiny women who have no chance in hell of physically subduing a big, strong man who has no inhibitions for being violent. That's going to be us soon, I fear.

That one's bad for the officers, though if the Lt had obeyed orders instead of demanding to know what's going on, I prognosticate things would have gone better for him.
Especially bad is the part where the Lt says something like, "I'm scared to get out." and the officer responds, "You should be."

I agree. I can't afford to get out, so I'll die here in Fort Apache. Every day we have you-know-whos firing handguns out their car windows simply for the fun of it. Almost every day we have GSW victims self-transporting to our ERs, where they refuse to talk to police. Probably half the felon arrests include illegal possession of firearms.
Our local thugs really like extended magazines on their handguns. It's not for lethality; it's a fashion choice.

Around 6 months ago someone on 4chan who claimed to be working in some sort of finical institution was claiming that banks or hedge funds were using the insane of amount of money that the fed gov was granting to them to buy single family homes. While reading the comments on unz today, I came across this. Comment number 41 on "Coordination and Decomposition" by Gregory Hood.
I wrote a few months ago about the bizarre disappearance of affordable, middle class homes in white rural neighborhoods. A house would appear on the MLS, and within 8 hours…it was Under Contract. This was happening in West Virginia- a stalwart of white values and no BLM criminality would be tolerated. I wrote that something was afoot and it was frightening.
It is Black Rock.
Black Rock is buying up homes by the thousands. The average earner cannot compete as they are paying cash, and 20% over the asking price. This is a HUGE story, with catastrophic consequences, aside from making home ownership completely unattainable for most white working class.
Why? Well, isn't it obvious? To cut-off our escape. To pen-us into their shitholes and leave us as their rentier subjects. Forever. And they're using our (printed, fiat) money to do it.
Pretty brilliant, in it's pure, remorseless evil.

If true, it's really upsetting to me that the Lt's act of driving to a gas station to pull over resulted in a felony stop. It used to be common advice for people in rural areas to not pull over on the side of a lonely road, because it could be a fake cop looking for a murder victim. Or, in the bad old days, it could be a legit cop looking to disappear a person of dusky hue. EVEN COPS USED TO ADVISE DRIVING ON TO A WELL LIT, POPULATED AREA.

When my brother was buying his house during the pandemic - out in the 'burbs - he lost out on one house because another buyer offered cash. Which I thought was odd.
I had a co-worker a few years ago who bought a house in a really hot realty spot near Seattle. She had to buy it sight unseen, tens of thousands over asking, and she passed on inspection to sweeten the deal.
Her gamble was costly. Apparently the house was on septic, and the tank was beyond repair. She couldn't install a new one because of some reason. I think it wasn't allowed in that area anymore. She had to pay over $100,000 to run a sewer line from her house, under another house's driveway, and get it connected to city sewer.

When my brother was buying his house during the pandemic - out in the 'burbs - he lost out on one house because another buyer offered cash. Which I thought was odd.It depends on the cash offer and market conditions. Cash offers above ask without conditions are weird and usually evidence of either an extremely hot (perversely hot) market or something unusual at play - like a giant investment house that doesn't care all that much about overvaluing a specific asset in a massive portfolio.
Posted by: 18-1 at April 12, 2021 02:27 PM (JMMlQ)
Cash offers modestly (a percent, maybe a touch more) above ask and with conditions aren't *that* weird in hotter markets. Cash offers at ask with conditions aren't that weird, either, if the market is fairly warm. Cash offers below ask without conditions aren't that weird, either, if the person is an investor instead of someone looking to live there (it's an odds play - there is probably nothing too terribly wrong that isn't disclosed, and the flipper will make up the difference by coming in low).
Cash isn't necessarily eyebrow-raising, but high (above ask or significantly above ask) cash offers without conditions are weird.

Higher housing prices would lead to more construction. Presuming that speculators successfully anticipate increased demand for a product, they drive the price up more in the short run which in turn causes supply to react more quickly. That is the net effect is typically a more modest pace of price movement (up or down) and overall less price volatility.
Posted by: Someguy - Former Red Turban now Enterprising Warlord at April 12, 2021 02:38 PM (z5Vrg)

That is one of the first things taught in self defense classes. Do not pull over until you are in a well lighted area. This is basic, basic stuff. This is what I was taught (grew up rural) and I still abide by it. The other part of it, though, is the important second part of the advice: "signal that you see and understand the order while you proceed to a lighted area."

The way I was taught to do this: hazard lights. When I have lights pop up behind me on a lonely road, I put my hazards and reduce my speed until I get to a place that it's safe to pull over. It lets the cop know that I see him, and I understand, and I am not fleeing.

Land is a zero sum game. I don't feel like living in a place that is wall-to-wall people and constantly crowded. Economics isn't the sum of life.Posted by: WiNO at April 12, 2021 02:42 PM (EpDzw)
This guy got pulled over due to "expired registration tags".
Yep - the government makin' money.
Anyone want to ask if the MN DMV is a bloated mess of overcharging bureaucracy? No? Of course not.

If they believe that, it is because they are fucking stupid, and because they've been lied to about the statistical likelihood of such an outcome.
What they should know is this: it is not legal to resist lawful arrest, and it is futile and sometimes deadly to attempt it.

For a while the areas right at the edge of the cities was "hot" and the prices were nuts. People want to get further away now due to Wuhan Flu and mostly peaceful rioters. So the burbs are now going through the same pricing insanity.
Want to "fix" the price of real estate? Deport the illegals and send the H1Bs home. Oh and stop Chinese nationals from buying houses as a way to protect their money from the Chinese government.
Remember in the 60s. prior to the southern/Asian invasion it was normal for a single middle class salary to buy a house, a car, and take care of 4+ kids...

Yeah, that's where I'm at as well. I already live with people sharing a wall on either side of me. If I move to Coos County NH I really don't want to be able to see my neighbors, much less hear or smell them. But this "perfectly normal" market filled with printed FedBucks is apparently not going to allow me, just a regular white guy, that luxury. Must be my pitiful social credit score.

So then you should prefer the restricted development laws and higher pricing no?If you're talking about rural/suburban areas, land is hardly a significant constraint.

I'm confident we'd be pissed off and not in a terribly cooperative mood.
Posted by: bonhomme at April 12, 2021 02:39 PM (UW2ZS)
I can't say. I don't like stops, general. But I keep my hands in plain view, if not out the window as they approach each time. It's just good sense.
It appears that neither parties are in the perfect right here, and the cops got a bad job to do in the best of circumstances. This guy just seems to have a chip on his shoulder, along with a firearm alongside him, which makes the police actions - even though dickish in some respects - somewhat understandable. And now it appears to be somewhat of a cash grab, for something he had a hand in bringing about.
See? Now you've gone and made me be bothered.

The training also says you should ring the copshop via 911 and say you are being followd by a cop but that you are going to go to a safer site.Yeah, that's true. I forgot that aspect because I was taught this stuff before cell phones proliferated. It's a good thing to do, too.

Initial reports make it look like the cops were completely in the wrong. Although, I thought I read there was not rear license plate. Anyways, driving an extra half-mile to gas station is reasonable. Not getting out the car when the cop tells you seems asking for trouble.

how are you guys doing that block quote thing
Posted by: DB- just DB at April 12, 2021 02:43 PM (iTXRQ)
Put your text to blockquote between "quote" and "/quote" tags in square brackets (without the quotation marks).

Pissed. Sure. At myself.
Not terribly cooperative? With Johnny Law?
No.
You don't have to talk to them or help them. But physically, you have to cooperate. No upside in any other plan.

I would prefer not importing millions of new people each year.Only in your mind is land not a constraint. Some of us like the idea of large areas not festooned with housing development after housing development. Plus, you then run into water limits, large amounts of traffic, and the joys of crowding. And I don't know, I like farms. Something about growing abundant amounts of food is comforting.

Restricted development is what drives high real estate prices in some areas of the country. Geographically the vast majority of real estate prices in the United States are typically flat for very long periods of time. Generally in rural and suburban United States land isn't a real issue(and of course is also incredibly cheap). It might make up a tenth the price of the property. "large areas not festooned with housing developments" described 90% of the country. If you want that in the middle of a city(which people also regulate for, plenty of good examples in California), you're asking for restricted development and very high real estate prices.

LOL, Walmart deserves it.
Apropos of nothing, I happened to check the other day - according to Walmart's last annual report, they earn roughly $1.5 Billion of revenue EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. OF. THE. YEAR.
Make of that what you will.
