And I've been thinking about a little bit of a letter-writing campaign, basically telling some of the ones on my embargo list about how much money is going to competitors because of their decision to wade into left wing politics, and some of the ones on my good-kid list about their economic gainzz for not moving against me. So the timing is impeccable.

I dunno. A lot of the French are still serious Catholics, and Notre Dame in Paris is very important to them. The French do love their history, and will do a very good (if very long and drawn out) job of restoring the Cathedral. I've been there a few times, and it is pretty amazing.
Regardless of what you may think of the French, I think they will be very careful about what happens while the rebuilding is going on. It would be incredibly embarrassing to any politician in power if this gets bungled.

Personally I evaluate pretty much every purchase I make. "Meaningful" is rather subjective, but I do indeed try to select businesses that don't go out of their way to insult/punish me. And it isn't easy. One corporation might be fine one year, then get "woke" for a year, then shut up for a bit. They're always in a battle to market to the trend rather than just make an effin' decent product at a fair price. So I get your point, but I think more and more people are trying to vote, so-to-speak, with their wallets.

The final straw was inserting your long Pinocchio snout into recent laws passed by GA to ensure election integrity. From your companies’ false comments, it is apparent you did not even read the GA law.
I really should thank you for giving me a plethora of reasons not to use your overpriced, unhealthy, caffeinated, acidic, ulcer enhancing, diabetes causing, obesity promoting, tooth decay contributing, chemical laced sugar water. I feel healthier already.
I’m going to use the money I save from not buying your product to contribute to Donald J. Trump and the candidates of his choosing. I hope they remove any and all tax loopholes your company is using. That’s something I’m going to be suggesting to our elected officials.

We stopped buying "Nabisco" cookies, etc, when they decided to have some cross-dressing black guy be a spokes-person (whatever) on Mother's Day a couple of years ago. A big vendetta against Nabisco, for other reasons, too. They are now owned by some European conglomerate who is totally woke. I don't know if anything that is done will make any difference, because it is a cultural thing that these various corporations have bought into, just like the faux-concern over "Global Warming" and "greenhouse gases".

One of the things I miss about Minnesota is that damn near everything up there is local. Due to geography and cultural history, they just aren't into throwing money at faraway companies. Tennessee is great for a lot of stuff, but it kinda sucks at holding on to its money.

I'd more than quibble with "not very talented". He's quite a vocalist. And while he's not a great actor (or may not be, I'm not sure how we would know, since everyone always wants him to "do Jack Black"), he has a persona which cannot be replicated by a great actor.
Case in point: Along Came Polly
Philip Seymour Hoffman in the Jack Black role opposite Ben Stiller. Hoffman was a great actor: Range, subtlety, comic chops, even action chops, whatever. (If there were any reason to remake Psycho, he would've been my pick for Bates, since he fit Bloch's description perfectly.)
But he couldn't pull off being a gross loser while still being likable, which Jack Black almost always is.
It's like being bitchy (for actresses). There's a special skill to being utterly horrible and still somehow appealing. Vivien Leigh in GWTW, for example, or Susan Lucci for 40 years on "All My Children".

hog martin, you can sell those Delta airmiles; there are some websites that will help you if you Duckduckgo it.The last time I checked, my dad tried to give me a stack of his miles that he wasn't going to use and they wanted a hilarious fee - I think it was literally a one-to-one fee, where he could send me miles for free, with just a surcharge of the actual dollar amount of the miles, bringing the price of a $350 ticket to $0 ($350 processing fee applies). Hey hogmartin a question. Suppose I were driving from VA to Detroitish-ish MI and I wanted to bring a firearm and go shoosting what would be a good place to do that. It will be June so outdoor is acceptable.Indoor or outdoor? If indoor, Huron Valley Guns is excellent. Outdoor, I've been to the Sharonville DNR range. The uniqueness of Amazon isn't taking the order, but controlling the fulfillment part of the order cycle. That is much more difficult to pull off, and Amazon leads the pack, by far.
Because Amazon has built their logistics system into a world-class fulfillment process, their next step is to let small and medium manufacturers utilize it. But after they have built it, it is a monopoly and now are free to abuse any product seller that wants to use it.
IIRC, Amazon takes between 20% to 30% of the total sell price to use their warehouse/fulfillment for independent companies. Costs of scale make it extremely profitable after the volume at an Amazon warehouse gets big enough. A company starting out will pay a lot more in sunk costs to get fulfillment built up. But after a certain level, 30% is an obscene cost for fulfillment. And if somehow you are still competitive, Amazon can simply raise their rate, or boot your azz from the system at their whim.
And when small vendors realize it, Oops! Too late! Amazon owns your ass, and there is really no way out, other than to blow up everything and rebuild it for yourself.
Oh, and that doesn't include that Amazon knows your detailed sales information before you do, and watch for the most successful products to copy and undersell you if your product is trending.
Amazon, for a fair and competitive marketplace, is the Borg combined with a terminal disease to any company that uses it.

Well, the idea is it would be a social site. The users would keep it up.Then, as a user, you'd have your group that you "followed" who provided info. The key element, which is something I've been pondering for years, is allowing people to create "trust circles", so that you could see why a company was down-voted (or up-voted) and by whom, and you could exclude/include people based on their track-record.
So, there'd be woke circles, too...and if you could probably calibrate your decisions by using them as a negation (and vice-versa).
Seemed like an interesting idea.

That is a good idea, I agree. And making it decentralized is definitely the right way to go. Let's not forget that the fundamental problem with existing social media networks isn't actually that they are run by insane wokeists*, it's that they're heavily planned and centralized so the insane wokeists are, like Marat, steering the angry mob for fun and profit. And, yeah, sure, they could use your system too but they already have traditional and new media on their side so the net benefit to them is a lot less than to non-wokeists who aren't necessarily political but very much upset with what's going on. One of the reasons that non-leftist attempts to pull things back is that the leftists are great at presenting themselves as the ideologically agnostic option while the non-leftist pushback is inevitably some vaguely right-wing demagogue who goes with "hay guise check out my conservative site for conservative people with conservative ideas on everything, no non conservative gurls allowed hurhur" so the potential audience is limited from jump street.

Every R. should be rolling up their sleeves to help the employees of all of our enemy corporations organize. It would be surprising and catch the left off guard. I'm starting to think this is the left's biggest weakness. And it closely resembles the solidarity movements that have been successful everywhere else.
Picket, organize, sabotage, lock them out, make their corporate lives a hellscape, and make them and their mouthpieces public enemy #1.

If you want a sandwich or other item, just go there and buy one. But if you want to own an entire location... uh, you can't. Every store is owned by the parent corporation which is owned by the Cathy family. It's true. I don't want to take anything away from the man. His other movies were bad. But they were not genius bad. Few geniuses can equal or top their original great works. Einstein managed it, with General Relativity, but, you know, Einstein. Even Schroedinger never exceeded the equation he worked out in seclusion with his mistresses.

And you can buy those reusable coffee grounds containers at most retailers that sell the Keurig machines, as well as online.
It makes my head shake when people say the Keurig single pods save money. It doesn't, the coffee costs 2 to 3 times as much as buying it by the 12oz or pound package, and those millions and millions of empty pods last for hundreds of years in the dump.

Uh... world class in the sense of being successful in a business sense, *for now*, but a solid 2/3 or more of what they touch turns to shit. They went on a binge of snapping up specialty mail order companies a while back and basically wrecked all of them... after a few months, not only could you not source the items the acquired company used to sell from Amazon (if they were even ever listed at all), in some cases the sales impact was so catastrophic that the actual manufacturers went under.
Couple this with the slow motion trainwreck that is their packing and delivery efforts... roughly 50% of my items from them come damaged due to Amazon warehouse fuckery, now. And their delivery drivers keep ramming parcels into my mailbox, so by the time USPS rolls around they just throw in a "can't deliver" slip and I have to go drive to pick it up.
Something is going to come after Amazon that isn't a big 'ole pile of counterfeits and item listing fuck-fuck games - I just hope I live to see it. It'll be a while.

I looked into them when I was looking to buy a franchise or two. Yeah, it's not a franchise in the traditional sense. You basically buy rights to operate a franchise but you don't own it. And you can't build an empire of locations because you have to physically work at a location (or two max) for a set number of hours. You can make good money but it just wasn't for me.

Wow, thanks for the perspective. I didn't think about this, but you are correct. Growing up in the '60's as a young kid, it was a really big deal to wake up really early on the Left coast, with Dad who usually left for work about 6:30 am, to watch the launching of the Mercury, and Gemini rockets. I could see in my blue-collar Dad's eyes how proud he was to be an American. As a 7 or 9 year old, it is thought provoking to watch a tear go down his cheek as one of those launches successfully cleared the tower and rose into the early morning blue skies of Florida.

This is probably also a big part of why millennials tend to be either bitchy libertarians or bitchy socialists who want nothing to do with the existing system. We just never had that "single manly tear rolling down daddy's face when We The People accomplish something great" moment. Oldsters got the space program. Gen X got the end of the Cold War and (arguably, via DARPA) the computer revolution. We got Clinton's cigars, 9/11 and the surveillance state. Rightly or wrongly, everything before that is as real to us as Julius Caesar.
Business isn't a whole lot better. Hughes, Iacocca, even Welch were fading memories in an age of corporate bureaucracy with no plan beyond making an Excel spreadsheet that Wall Street likes in the next quarterly update call.

I dated a girl in high school who drove a 900, and it was a fun, quirky little beast. The dashboard was up around neck height and the ignition was down by the parking brake, and all sorts of other little odd choices that really reinforced the "well, it's just like making a plane, only we leave off the wings" feel. It should've just died there instead of getting a kind of sad GM parts-bin purgatory for a few years.

So tired of the pointy haired boss at work. A couple months ago I was looking at the PPT for "this will be the new system" and went "oh hell no" we have systems that can't just add a 3rd output string and we get this specialized data also from a lot of externals just being nice and can't ask them to "hey just add another stream for us to be stupidly redundant instead of being smart about setup" I guess I did say "it would have to be an HA pair if it remains 2 systems" Stupid me.
So two months of wrestling with the tarball that turned out to be, and tonight I put in a ticket to request to pull the plug on trying the HA option and please lets just set this up with single systems and have cross comms between the two centers. That worked great the last few years. Hopefully they/management will go along with that. We simply don't have the man-hours to sort out the HA system tangle.

The even have a lane for shotgun patterning. It's one of the Dept. of Natural Resources ranges, there are sever scattered about the state. The Rose Lake range up in the Lansing area is the flagship of that fleet.
If you're around Milford, Huron Valley Guns is not to be missed. Where else can you shoot, shop, get your hair cut, and have a plate of poutine all under one roof?

Canards haven't sexy since the Wright Bros. They are evidence of poor planning in the preliminary design phase. The same for strakes.
Be better designers.
