I mean, it's not like I'm a religious bigot or something. As a gospel-oriented Lutheran, I love my fellow believers who are Catholic.

VATICAN CITY - Pope Benedict XVI "sincerely regrets" offending Muslims with his reference to an obscure medieval text that characterizes some of the teachings of Islam's founder as "evil and inhuman," the Vatican said Saturday.

But the statement stopped short of the apology demanded by Islamic leaders around the globe, and anger among Muslims remained intense. Palestinians attacked five churches in the West Bank and Gaza over the pope's remarks Tuesday in a speech to university professors in his native Germany.

Thank God. I mean that literally. It would be an abomination if the pope actually apologized for an academic lecture rejecting religion as the basis of violence.

An Iraqi insurgent group threatened the Vatican with a suicide attack over the pope's remarks on Islam, according to a statement posted Saturday on the Web.

According to a statement posted on the web today, Michael thinks that Islam is a dysfunctional theology that breeds insane fanatics who are demented fuctards.

An enormous baby was delivered recently in Norwich, CT.

14 lbs., 13 ozs.

Backus officials said the newborn — Stephon Hendrix Louis-Jean — broke the 18-year record for the biggest baby ever born at the hospital by 1 pound, 13 ounces. He was nearly 23 inches long.

"He's built like a linebacker," said Dr. David Kalla, who accidentally delivered the baby when his wristwatch grazed the expectant mother's abdomen, causing her to split in half with a resounding crack.

Gatewaypundit thinks so, and he notes that the FBI has taken the video off their website, although America's Most Wanted is still hosting it.

Interesting, the man in the video who some are alleging to be Adnan G. El Shurkrijumah is shown while teaching an "English as a Second Language Class". UPDATE: I need to correct this post. I originally wrote that the purported tipster wrote in Ace's comments that her suspect had no "discernable" accent. That was incorrect. The tipster said that the man did not have a "hispanic" accent. Neither does the man in this video.

In any event, I'm going to post this video and let you draw your own conclusions. It's sort of grainy, but the pictures at Gatewaypundit's site are clearer.

After watching the video, take a few minutes to read Gatewaypundit's post. It contains a wealth of infomation about this case.

So unnecessary ... The Islamist's rage is just weird, given the intent of the Pope's speech. But I've got to say that Beth at VRWC is on to something. These people deserve to be laughed at, as does a Religion that cannot distinguish between reality and illusion.

What kind of idiots get bent out of shape by comments given to a University from one of the West's Religious leaders?

But perhaps, in their mission, they are right to be concerned. A Western Leader has made a deliberately provocative speech that was startling in its clarity and in its implications. The Pope is laying the groundwork to be one of the only clear-talking, right-thinking, rational leaders in this war. His discussion of Reason and Religion did two things brilliantly: it paints a clear historical line between Islam and the radicalizing of Islam, and it clearly ascribes the West's current inability to distinguish between the two as central to its endangerment. And in so doing, he is positioning himself as one of the clearest thinkers on the roots of the GWOT and as a leader of the West.
