Here are five stories in politics to have on your radar this week.
Politico has a profile on Club for Growth.
Obama is, reportedly, pivoting to the economy. Again.
The new Godzilla trailer actually makes me want to see the film. Also, I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier over the weekend and it was good.
Don't forget to get the podcast if you haven't already. David Freddoso was our guest and we talked Mozilla, McCutcheon, and GM. Oh, and we got a lot of great Ask the Blog questions. Keep them coming.

DC 'BRAIN DRAIN'? Exodus creates void in Congress amid gridlock
Really? I could agree if you said brain-dead drain.
In the article:
An exodus this year on Capitol Hill is creating a void in Congress, with some of its most experienced and skillful lawmakers suggesting the partisan gridlock is finally taking a toll.
Partisan gridlock? The RINOs controlling the Republican Party have caved on every major issue. I guess Fox has imported some staff writers from MSNBC.

Good times.

President Obama is preparing to lean on companies that do business with the government with a pair of new executive actions designed to close the wage gap between men and women.
Studies have shown time after time that there is no "wage gap" between men and women performing the same job under equal settings. This issue is manufactured BS. Besides that, they have already passed a BS act when they had all three units of government that was supposed to end this BS controversy (which should tell the average idiot that there never was a problem to begin with).

It'll be Adlai Stevenson all over again.
For you young whipper snappers out there, that was a Democrat who ran for President 3 times in a row and failed all three.
He had a big enough name draw and backing to suck the life out of anyone else running but the American people just didn't like him and wouldn't vote for him.
Romney needs to shut up and sit down and let some else who really wants the job and will do whatever is necessary to win run instead of the same ol' same ol' that has been rejected twice now.

Morning, ‘rons and ‘ronettes. You’ve probably heard that we lost one of the last great ones, the multitalented singer, actor, dancer and writer Joe Yule Jr., better known as Mickey Rooney. Here’s a Rooney story:
When he was making Baby Face Nelson in 1957, he became good friends with his co-star Carolyn Jones. She recognized him as a brilliant performer and loved to tease him, often saying after a particularly good scene, “Mickey, if you’d been a head and a half taller, you’d be dangerous.” One afternoon, they were shooting a scene that took longer to set up than usual, so the two found themselves sitting in a 1930s roadster, waiting for a call to the set. The two began chatting, and eventually Rooney began telling Jones about his wives – nothing too salacious, just that, somehow, he’d always married women taller than he was, beginning with the fiery Ava Gardner.
Eventually he became pensive, finally lapsing into silence. As Jones watched, Rooney sighed deeply. “Yeah,” he finally said, “I put shoes on them and they walk away from me.”
Here they are in Nelson:
Here’s another story. To get the full flavor, you have to known that, at the time, the English slang for “salary” was “screw,” as in this passage from the Sherlock Holmes story The Adventure of the Stockbroker’s Clerk: “The screw was a pound a week rise, and the duties just about the same as at Coxon's.”
The story concerns Jesse Lasky, one of the founders of Paramount Studios. He loved to make speeches, whether it was about the wonders of movie-making or to present a new star to the public. At one banquet, he was accompanied by a cuddly, luscious Australian starlet whom, he assured his fellow diners, he expected to do splendidly in Paramount films. Unfortunately, Lasky was unaware that the girl wasnÂ’t fully up to date on the differences between the English language as spoken in America and as spoken in Australia.
When Lasky had finished his stemwinder, he asked the girl to say a word. “Thank you, Mr. Lasky,” she smiled. “As long as I get a good weekly screw, you may be sure I’ll do my job to the very best of my ability.”
Sadly, the story doesnÂ’t identify the actress; but letÂ’s pretend it was curvaceous, Melbourne-born, Mae Busch:
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

re 24: "NY taxpayers are stiffed for $87,000 because Rangel did not pay the rent on his NYC offices. This kind of shit is why NY taxes are among the highest in the nation."
more likely we have such high taxes because people here vote for people like Rangel. Might be worse except that I think Gov Housing Bubble Cuomo is looking to run for the Dem Presidential nomination as a moderate.
Posted by: mallfly at April 07, 2014 03:12 AM (zjcTL)
See, I was comparing Romney to Adlai and Adlai DID run for President 3 times. He didn't get the nomination the 3rd time.
Romney didn't get the nomination the first time he ran.
So go pick a nit elsewhere thank you.

Today the IBM's System 360 mainframe is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The S/360 changed IBM just as it changed computing and the technology industry.
The S/360 was different introduced a brand-new way of thinking about how computers could and should be built and used. The S/360 made computing affordable and practical - relatively speaking.
The secret was a modern system: a new architecture and design that allowed IBM to churn out S/360s at relatively low cost. This had the more important effect of turning mainframes into a scalable and profitable business for IBM, thereby creating a mass market.
The S/360 democratized computing, taking it out of the hands of government and universities and putting its power in the hands of many ordinary businesses.

And in the hands of many ordinary students. Since the computers were always left on, Sys-ops figured they might as well run decks from the kids to fill the empty time.

Now how about all you all cutting your cable cause they actually spend a lot of money with the Dems and making crap to put on for the susceptible to be confused by. Plus soon the prices will go up and up again and again with Comcast becoming a monopoly. It's no coincidence that this regime is allowing the merger.
Crappy movies and programs that denigrate daily your politics and your state along with ads from more companies who do the same is not what I'd call a useful product.
But then hey you gotta watch the sports or whatever.

The poor widdle love bunny undocumented family hugging immigrants can love their country (that's okay, you see) yet love their family more so it's okay to break our laws. However, we are not allowed to love our country and insist that our laws be followed.
Because that's hateful or something.
And while I'm sure there are some poor widdle love bunny undocumented family hugging immigrants that obey ALL our other laws, they just missed the one, the evidence says that there is a shitpile of them breaking lots of other of our laws.
Like the truck full of them that crashed into a close friend's wife's vehicle and fled the scene on foot like cockroaches with the lights turned on. So what if she wore a neck brace for two months and had to have her insurance pay for all the mayhem. She clearly doesn't love her family as much as they do.

Don't fall for his trick. This is Jeb's game- he will never say anything except stuff intended to piss you off. Then when you get angry he can act like he's the cool head and the adult in the room.
He understands he never had a shot at the presidency because of his last name, so he uses this tactic to raise his profile to pursue speaking and consultant gigs.
its really pathetic that he spends all his time criticizing conservatives but all he can come up with is standard leftist refrains. I could criticize conservatives all day without touching leftist stupidity.

Do you mean Obama?
If so, then the answer is no. It doesn't sound like him.
Consult your DSM (your version may vary, 4r or 5), there are a nice variety of personality disorders, and the one you list here is anti-social. Which many people think is synonymous with psychopathy, but let's not quibble.
Obama however, falls more closely into the narcissistic personality category, as many have noted.
As for how you spot a psychopath, for a reasonably normal person, the easiest way is when you encounter one, he (and it's almost always a he) will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. If you have that reaction to someone, trust it.

It seems that wherever you go, somebody has taken the time and effort and tax dollars to create a bike lane for the hardhat wearing cyclists, who then say "yeah we like riding in that lane, and you better not, but we wanna ride in your lane too! Against the traffic. Cause we are cyclists."

Jeb Bush: "Sneaking across the border and remaining in the country is an act of love. Like a hate-crime, only with more love. Kind of a love-crime."
Me: I just wish the leftist elites like the Bush family would use more lube when they commit an act of love on America.

We are in the optical shop to pick up my new tri-focals (yes, really, M'F*ckin' Tri-focals), and at the tail end of being fitted by the very nice single mother who's lineage may have originated in Africa, I ask if the arms are of Spring technology.
And I mention that when shooting, the muffs press against the temples, and sometimes cause sealing issues.
Suddenly, we get into a discussion about how the whole VIA family enjoys shooting, and the fact that this employee is really interested in finding out if she can handle firearms. So. off we go into the discussion that many of us have had in the past, and she is contacting a female friend of hers that shoots at one of the same ranges that we shoot at.
And then, just to put the cherry on the whipped cream, her female supervisor becomes involved, and mentions both her and her husbands NRA memberships, the love of shooting, and how we need to preserve the Second Amendment.
Was really kind of an unexpected turn of conversation for a Baltimore WalMart.

Liberals cannot argue well - or in good faith - because they do it by flow chart with no thought required. To wit:
If disagreeable person A = white, then counterargument = racism. If disagreeable person A = black, then counterargument = Uncle Tom. If disagreeable person A = amalgamation of multiple victim groups, then counterargument = brainwashed and uninformed.
What's especially hilarious is when you point out basic logic errors to a liberal Ivy League grad.
Sputtering. Heads. Exploding.
