35 First, thanks for asking my question. Next, I would like to say it wasn't an attempt at a gotcha question. My point was more along the lines that Ace was getting at. Being legally able to do something isn't the same as it being right to do it. There is a reason that it was always considering impolite to discuss religion and politics in many situations. That leads into the second situation where Nick G. was getting into his fulfilling job nonsense. If you enjoy your job great. But most people aren't going to do more than enjoy parts and tolerate the rest. When you get into the concept that work has to fulfill your deepest desires, you start to end up with problems like Eich. Twenty to thirty years ago you would have been told to shut-up and do your job because the job isn't about politics. Finally, did anyone else think Nick G. was somewhat selective in his property rights? He doesn't seem to like IP rights.

First, I am not aware of any community colleges that award Bachelors Degree....being 2 year institutions.

Second, your law firm does not suspend you if you lie about that. The bar association promptly disbars you.

But other than that I found the show firmly grounded in reality.

The bar association was basically trying to keep things quiet in order to prevent embarressing themselves.

As for the school, one of the basic premises is that Greendale is trying to be a "real college" and they play into it in quite a few episodes.

Grounded in reality?  Maybe not, but that's the point.  The whole thing is slightly absurd.

57 One of the best stories I have about kids in church concerns a friend who was a Mennonite Pastor. He was having the kids up front and his son was one of them. The son who was about four kept tugging on his dad's shirt saying " Dad, dad" He finally said, "What is it , Billy?" in a whisper. The son replied in a loud voice, "My pee-pee is stuck in my zipper." Of course the congregation all laughed a lot. People just wait for these "kids say the darndest things" moments at church kids time. ;^)

62 Drudge headlined The Pope at the UN promotes "legitimate economic redistribution". The article didn't have direct quotes using those words. The Vatican News: couldn't find a copy of his speech. Might be somewhere at that website, but I couldn't locate the speech full text. Catholic News Agency: Pope Francis took the opportunity to speak regarding the Future Sustainable Development Goals at the world organization, noting that they must be “formulated and carried out with generosity and courage, so that they can have a real impact on the structural causes of of poverty and hunger.” |-- Hm. The Pope's for the so-called UN Agenda 21, the Vatican promoting the "SUSTAINABLE". I have no problem with any one promoting charity. Charity is great; it's totally VOLUNTARY. But given the Pope admonishing the UN and National Leaders to end poverty in their own backyards, I do think it awfully presumptuous when the reported vast wealth of the Vatican isn't redistributed to end poverty in Rome, even. Sure, nice gesture of the Pope to scale down HIS personal expenditures. Less than a drop in the bucket, though. More like a molecule. Nonetheless, even the widow's mite is of value -- because it was ALL THAT SHE HAD which she contributed to those more poor than she.

76 Value doesn't always equate to dollar amounts. Sure, the Catholic Church could trade off all of their cultural artifacts, accumulated real estate, schools, hospitals, etc., to the highest bidding collectors/developers, and then chop up those dollars and distribute them to charities in a one time boon. 81 When my son was about four, we were standing next to the minister after church, when my son puts his hands on his hips and says " Hey mom! I need you to buy me some cigarettes." One of my siblings, I forget which one, figured out at around two or three years of age that prayers ended with "amen." One Sunday he got tired of having to hold still during a particularly long prayer and decided to hurry things up by loudly shouting "Amen!" right in the middle of the prayer. The minister just about broke down laughing right then and there. I am told that when I was little and fidgety in church I once responded to an admonition to "behave" by loudly responding "I am have" to the great merriment of those around me.

89 I hope you are right, FenelopSpoke, about Francis. I recently read, because I was given a copy, the Encyclical Letter "Charity in Truth." Holy Moly. The Catholic Church wants a world government that is strong enough to ensure wealth redistribution. As has been said, all charity must be voluntary. It's hard to find unbiased reportage.

184 Okay I've heard the first 30 minutes.  And it's kind of depressing, really.  All this talk of the minutiae of Benghazi, and none of it will ever touch any Democrat, ever.

The Dems are in charge now, and they will remain in charge until civilization collapses (at which time they will find out just how worthless their media shield is, but it'll be too late then).

185 Francis hasn't exactly been the most articulate spokesman the Church has ever had. That's problematic for this present age. Because the media has pre-cast him in this light, he must take considerable effort to choose his words so that the opportunities for them to be mis-used are minimized . Because of his moral authority, and the added weight his words carry, they must be very straightforward and clear to those not only within the Catholic Church, but to others as well. Others who will take those words and run with them. On the other hand, we all know the media will report exactly what they wish to report, and little else.

186 >>Francis hasn't exactly been the most articulate spokesman the Church has ever had. Posted by: Sean Bannion I mean no offense, but no matter who one is or what one does if one cannot clearly articulate what one means then one should probably just keep quite.

187 Medicine is a third career after .mil then .gov... student loans are ginourmous ruined by the fact that I am a rural and resource limited medical specialist ('Country GP on Frontier') and make less per hour than some nurses. Yes, my choice. I coulda been a NYC brain surgeon, but as a 5th gen rancher, coming back to clear skies, clean air, and nervous livestock was irresistible. While you can certainly piss of the front porch and shoot off the back in the city, it may get you talked about. Here, not so much. Physicians are deliberately trained in delayed personal satisfaction... on the other hand the mean age for first heart attack in the general population US is 67 y/o. In US physicians.... 52 y/o. Some days I want to scream FUCK IT at the top of my lungs, go buy a convertible and a couple ginger lingerie models and party 'till I drop, as I may drop any time sans party and screw delayed gratification as I may well not live to see it. What to do what to do...

189 Well time travel is possible if I break the Warp 9.5 limit or slingshot around the Sun.  Or use the Guardian.

But at Warp 5 will still take just over 2 months to travel from Earth to that star 110 light years away.

190 A lot more shooting and killing today in Ukraine.

One of my Twitter blasts should calm things down. I'm on it like a buzzard on a shitwagon.

198 mean age for first heart attack in the general population US is 67 y/o. In US physicians.... 52 y/o. Then quality of life becomes even more important, eh? Money is money. Life is life. Anyway, that's my two cents, which is worth not very much at all, come to think of it. I'd sleep on it.

200 People getting all reactionary with the Pope are like Liberals with Duck Dynasty. You heard he might have said something that might somehow make some people agree with him in a way that hurts your cause, so he must be the enemy. Don't listen to him, don't seek context, just explode in a glitter cloud of outrage and then pray someone justifies it with a reply.

203 He is a very nuanced speaker. Posted by: Bevel Lemelisk at May 09, 2014 06:12 PM (QMRMM) It's not so much nuance as (a) he speaks like the people he's talking to all have the same background as him and (b) he has no guile whatsoever.

206 I'm not married and don't have kids, however, if I did, took them with me on business trips and tried to write off their ticket, rooms, and meals as business expenses, the IRS would audit me seize everything I own. According the IRS, even if I take a client to dinner with our respective wives, only the amount spent on the client and I is a valid business expense. The wives meals are out of my pocket. 207 The deal with the mozilla showing up is that quite a few non-firefox have gecko rendering engine since it is open source. Some even allow multiple codebases to be used - so what you are seeing might be Avant or Tor or a half dozen others.
