— Ace The Meatball analyzes the competitive races.
He begins by noting five "firewalls" Democrats are counting on to stop a wildfire, each set back a little deeper into Democratic territory than the last.
Most of the firewalls are now on fire.
However, as of March 2014, the GOP has locked away two races, closed in on a third, well on their way with two more, and slight favorites in yet two more, giving the Republicans room to make an effective push into more purplish territory. They are fiercely contesting an open race in Michigan and now an incumbent in Colorado, and are threatening to do so in Iowa and New Hampshire. The higher they raise their maximum potential gains, the lower the number of races the Democrats can afford to write off. Despite the slacking off in Virginia, this remains a challenging map for those left-of-center.As of today, the Democrats are in deep trouble. We aren’t forecasting a landslide win for the GOP — eight months is a lifetime. But with the second firewall already burning and Republican advancements into states they failed to win in 2012, they may be well on their way.

Of course I want the GOP to win the Senate, at the very least it will stop Zero from loading the courts with his insane judges. That's the one thing the GOP senators were doing right, which caused Reid to change the cloture rules. But overall, it doesn't tickle my balls like it used to.

Yes, Democrats are polling very badly, people can't stand 'em. But Republicans are polling badly as well, and that's because the GOP is not presenting a valid alternative loudly and consistently enough, all they're doing is saying "they suck!" Yes, they suck, but why should we vote for you, who we think suck, too?
When it comes down to it, most voters will go with the devil they know, leaving someone in office rather than someone they think also sucks. Why change for a different suck?
That, and the machine will make sure any close national election is a Democrat win.
Remember how the GOP was going to pick up all those seats in 2012, maybe even win a majority? Remember all that glee? Yeah, that really worked out, huh?

For a week or so there was reason to be optimistic in CO, mainly because the gun owners will show up to hammer the state legislature dems and the guv for their gun control laws, plus Gardner is a much better candidate.
However, the dems just passed new election rules which allow same day registration and voting. Same day. Repubs are gonna get crushed unless the 2A's come out huge.
There were over 12,000 votes iirc found to be have counted illegally in the last senate race where Buck lost by 16,000.

Well I'm all about pessimism (especially given the state of the base), but this is just bonkers. Unless you think we're going to lose KY or GA (GA is the only one that's possible, if Paul Broun wins the nomination it could well happen), then +3 is already in the bank: MT, SD, and WV. I'd add AR to that as well myself, unless Cotton pulls a "dead girl/live boy" stunt. Same with LA.
The circular firing squad in NC (with idiot TP morons continuing to back Greg Brannon even though he's a lying piece of shit who conned money out of business investors and just got found liable for civil fraud) gives me pause, and who knows what will happen in places like CO or AK (if Joe Miller wins the primary we're doomed), but right now things are falling into place.

So in a flurry of legislation, they repeal Obamacare, obliterate the Department of Education and several other agencies, slash spending by 25%, balance the budget, and reverse most of the lunatic crap the EPA has been doing, and overall rewrites Washington DC so its strictly federal, not interfering within the states. Then, lets say that they detonate the IRS, rewriting tax law to a simple, flat tax you can fill out on your coffee break on a postcard.
While we're squirming with orgiastic glee at the wave of conservatism... hundreds of thousands of federal jobs have just been cut, and now the unemployment rate skyrockets. The short-term reaction of having all this bureaucracy and businesses sucking off the government teat means a dive in growth as the economy shifts over.
Suddenly its a great depression, as the press puts it. Conservatives have Hoovered us again! Their plans destroyed the economy! Look at all these black people out of work because of the federal job cuts (need I repeat that there are more than twice as many blacks working for the federal government than the percentage of general population?).
The GOP is hurled out of office in the next election and the Democrat candidate for president wins in a landslide. And they benefit from the huge surge in economy that takes place due to the conservative changes.
Are you feeling me yet?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A Philadelphia judge has ordered philly.com to reveal the name of an anonymous commenter, in a defamation suit brought by electricians’ union leader John Dougherty.
An attorney in the case says it could have a broad impact on incendiary online comments and those users, sometimes called “trolls,” who post them anonymously.
The anonymous defendant in the suit, disguised by the nonsense name “fbpdplt,” called Dougherty a name in the comments section of an article on the website, one of the properties in the media group that also owns the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News.

When did the media start scheduling the Senate votes?
The Majority Leader decides which subcommittee will get the bills, and he knows damn sure which ones will kill those bills so they don't even make it to the committees for a vote, much less the Senate floor.

Thank you MWR, that's what I meant by "effectively repeals". In that the most harmful effects of Zerocare are hidden until it's too late to do anything about it. The fact that nobody on the GOP side..not even Cruz, as far as I know, is raising objection to these delays doesn;t give me much hope.

Oh look. Leftists whinging about their "communities" being tainted by increased diversity. Spike Lee, is that you?
West Hollywood's increasing diversity inspires mixed emotions
Always known as a gay haven, West Hollywood is facing an identity crisis as its population and commercial scene—and society as a whole—evolve.
LA Times: http://tinyurl.com/qx3zp6e
Councilman John Duran and his gay colleagues on the West Hollywood City Council never expected a backlash when they voted recently to remove the rainbow flag from above City Hall.
For Duran, who is gay, taking down the flag wasn't about slighting gays but sending a message about the city's diversity.
"It's not just a city of gay men. It belongs to heterosexual people as well," he said.
But the flag's removal in a place synonymous with gay life outraged many, and the city this week changed course, raising above City Hall a flag with a rainbow-colored city logo...

Positive is one thing - always claiming that no matter what happens, even if you win you lose - that's just wrong. It's more than wrong, it is almost UnAmerican behavior.
I really don't understand why anyone would go into a contest waving the white flag right from the beginning.

PS part 2: We're already in a Depression. Have been for a while now. The unemployment rate is already at "skyrocketed" levels, and EBT == Soup Lines. Been to any strip malls recently? They're all 1/2 empty or worse.

If we're in the same shape in August that we are now, electorially, then I might get excited. 2012 burned out most of the optomism that I had for elections.
I still think that somehow the fix is in. Dear Leader, his regime, and the DNC have control of most of the inner workings of the voting process. Just sayin'.

Perhaps what you are observing here is a lack of trust in a Party, which we are called to support because of no viable alternative. That might make a person less than enthused.

Obama has EO'ed Obamacare off the table as an election issue for the vast majority of voters, except for the 10 million or so enthusiastic new Medicaid enrollees. who will vote to not lose coverage.
And thus it shall continue. Anything politically inconvenient gets delayed, concealed or unreported until after the election.

Senate: Net +0
House: Republicans narrowly lose majority.

The result is they do not do anything of true importance even WHEN they win, even when they have more than one house, etc.
It's always excuses and no decisive action.
They just keep the seat warm until Dems win again. Rinse wash repeat.
Dem rank and files get a return on their votes, we do not. Heck, the GOPe even now wants amnesty. The GOP, as they say, will betray you...
