1 I was compelled from the rack this morning by a sudden cascade of recollection of the awful major decisions that warped my life for the worse over the past forty-five years. Several specific stupid choices, devastating consequences, compound disastrophes. Fail & ruin. Yup, I sure have learned "won't do that again" about a lot of things. Nothing I can put to use or help make up for the damage, but my hindsight is 20/20. And as I look back, I realize, it's not over yet. There's still time for me to make more stupid, devastating choices! Oh, boy! Another day! Morning, Glories.

20 Happy Mother's Day! My youngest daughter (the 4 legged one) woke me up at 630 insisting on a walk. 3 miles into our 4 mile journey it started to rain. 60-90 % chance of thunderstorms all day. The only thing I requested was ribs and wings on the grill, not sure how that will work out. Need the rain though so I won't complain. I plan to spend all afternoon on the couch watching golf.

We had Mothers Day here too - had a lovely lunch with family at a Sri Lankan restaurant which is a favourite of the Old Aussie Bloke's 90 yo Mum

My son actually rang me from Queensland where he lives - he's usually forgetful for days like today - even though he sounded a bit under the weather - he got home from a party at 6am)

And I see you're all moving Down Under when that Yellowstone thingie goes bang?

We have 2 spare bedrooms if anyone needs a place to stay.....

The Grunpy Grandma has to work at the ballpark today and the Navy's Newest Sailor is enroute to Japan so she has a tremendous sad.

BUT......the route to Japan goes through DFW and includes an 'unexpected layover' of 15 days to do a stint as a Recruiter Assitant. Sooooo... all the kids and I will be going to the game where we'll surprise mom with a cameo appearance of the Navy's Newest Sailor.

101 Saturday after Easter, my nephew got married in Tulsa. That was the weekend of my daughter's ballet, just as she had worried it would be, before they announced the date. But, no biggie. None of us - me, Milady, our kids - were invited to the wedding anyway, or any related festivities, or even to come visit that week. Just too crowded, Mom told me. Her brother Ed was flying in. (You remember Ed, my only true uncle, loved by my kids as the closest thing they had to a grandfather, I've talked about him, related his war stories.) Why, there wouldn't even be room at the Big Dinner for Ed's grandchild, who Ed's kids wisely decided should accompany him on the trip. The Sunday before all my siblings (save the Utterly Estranged brother) and their families trickled into Tulsa was Easter. Mom assured me the guru-following astrologer brother would take her to church, so my daughter, who otherwise would be joyously honored to accompany her grandmother to celebrate Christ risen, need not come. Our twin sons' birthdays fell in that week, but, Mom told me, we'll wait to celebrate that after the wedding. Late last week, she finally left me a message that all the relatives were gone, she had rested up, and we could schedule the boys' birthday now. I left that up to the boys, and they set it up we should all meet at Mom's this evening, coincidentally Mother's Day. Mom, whose 93rd birthday is next month, always says she hopes her kids will stay in touch with each other after she's gone. I don't know why she thinks things would be different.

"Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?..." Happy Mother's Day and a dozen blazing virtual roses to all the moms here, honors to my daughter, whose miscarriage, our only shot at grandkids so far, is buried out by the old Cherokee graveyard, not far from the little 5yo and infant. And to the mother of our three, including those twin full-term full-weight boys, who has also been 2nd Mom for at least one of Estranged Brother's daughters. Thank you, God, for Moms. Love you, Mom.

He came to visit and a group of my family went out fishing. Rather than buy a fishing license, Sam borrowed one from my brother Randy. Sure enough, the fish warden came by while they were fishing. Checked the licenses, each of which had our Germanic last name. When he got to Sam, he looked at the license, looked at Sam, looked at the license, grinned and said, with one raised eyebrow, "Well, Randy, y'all have a safe day fishing," and walked off.

132 Oddly enough, I never cared that much about Mother's Day when my kids were little. I knew John's parents were *his* parents. Of course, I'm spoiled though because my in-laws usually send me a little money to do something nice with for myself, so that may well be the difference. They sent me an "Edible Arrangement" this year. Have to say, it's very tasty and the kids and I are eating it for breakfast today.

152 I have the DVD of Blazing Saddles and it's complete. I ran the movie in the 70's many times as a projectionist in many theaters back then and have seen the movie at least a hundred times. It's so bad, I can do the entire dialogue! So, any changes would be immediately apparent to me.

About Gone With the Wind - I have read it, a couple of times - resisting a strong impulse to throw it across the room now and again. Scarlett was a horrible human being, like Becky Sharp - but a creation that we keep coming back to, as if mesmerized. I did a similiar 'southern belle' character in one of my books - a selfish, self-centered and manipulative woman, the sister-in-law of one of my heroes, trying to manipulate him into marrying her, without any luck. I described her to my alpha-readers as 'Scarlett O'Hara to men and women who didn't like her at all. '

inclination towards managing her own affairs. Looking around for someone who
would masterfully take all these burdens from her, AmeliaÂ’s eyes couldnÂ’t help
but fall onto Peter. Against all those practical considerations and what she
