Happy Tuesday.

Surprise, surprise: the Arab Spring, relying as it did on radical Islam, expanded the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

Glee: Democratic operatives are pissed at DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz for admitting that Dems aren't going to take back the House.

Silly: Rush Limbaugh added his voice to those who didn't like the Coca-Cola ad. "I said, 'Whoa, who got hold of this advertising campaign? The Republican leadershipÂ’s gotta be doing this.'"

Stupid: Obama says that Fox News is "absolutely" being unfair to him for asking about Obamacare failures, Benghazi, and the IRS scandal. Absolutely.

Neat: Endgadget, citing a Korean source, reports that South Korea is using Microsoft's Kinect sensor to help guard the DMZ.

2 Good Morning Morons.  Today is Tuesday, February 04, 2014.  On this day in 1945 FDR gave away Eastern Europe and parts of China to Stalin for a sack of beans and a promise, which we didn't need (or should not have even wanted).  Luckily Stalin never kept the promise.  Thus the stage was set for future negotiations for Boner and co.

3 The IRS has reinstated employee bonuses that were revoked as a result of IRS illegal activities.  This has caused a lot of hot air to emanate from Orrin Hatch (don't know why the have the pic of Trey Gowdy).  Hell, it's only logical to reinstate the bonuses.  Obama has reinstated the targeting of conservatives.  As long as congress issues nothing but hot air for this shit nothing will happen.  They need a special prosecutor for all this shit or an impeachment.

4 I think this Boehner and Ryan spiel about amnesty being in doubt this year is a fucking rope-a-dope. My fear is that the GOP house members are objecting not on principle but because leadership can't come up with an effective enough fig leaf. Keep up the pressure.

5 Obama says he is waiting on horseshit Kerry for Keystone.  Not even a good lie.  As I said, Keystone will never happen while he is in office.  His EPA goons are likely coordinating lawfare with the eco-Nazi groups (using taxpayer money) and his next excuse will be it is held up in court.

===========

The purpose of the website was never to have a website.  The purpose of the website was to have a pretext for transferring a crapload of money from the taxpayers to Obama cronies.  After that was done the most they could do with what little money was left over was to cobble together the cheapest piece of crap they could from freely available software and from developers in places like Belarus and then foist it upon the public- "at great expense and at the last minute".  The whole exercise reminds me of the credits in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail".

Only Monty Python was satire and wasn't supported by my tax dollars.

82 Ran into a crazed Obama supporting acquaintance recently, who was incensed over the O'Reilly interview, for its "confrontational tone". Of course I laughed, saying my frustration was that it wasn't confrontational enough and the a president was allowed to lie and filibuster his way through it. There's the divide, right there: those who worship progs and TFG want no competing narrative allowed and those who don't respect the Democrats want to grab every opportunity to rhetorically grab the bastard by the collar and demand answers and remediation. We still have a long way to fall in this country.

83 Here is the good news of the day. At least it is for me and all the other Morons over the age of 50. The FDA has approved a "pill camera" for inspection of the colon for cancer. The bad news is you will still have to go through all that damn prep which is the worst part of it. http://tinyurl.com/n5n9f3u Posted by: Vic at February 04, 2014 06:56 AM (T2V/1) I don't understand why this is a thing. They have used pill cameras for years to check small intestines. Originally, you had to find the capsule when it came out, so they could develop the images. Now, you wear a belt that is a giant antenna, and the camera transmits the images. Also, there's no real prep for that p[rocedure. You just can't eat or drink for a certain number of hours before. That could be a little different for the colon, but I would doubt it's a s bad as the current thing.

(I think it's made out of/coated with some kind of substance to help with it.) I wore a receiver and went home. I had to just sit around all day. That afternoon, I went back, gave them the belt, and went home. Once they looked at the images, they found the spot and sent me to a hospital with a long-assed endoscope to fix it.

113 The one exception — his one last shot at a major legislative achievement — was comprehensive immigration reform. But that isn’t happening either.

And the reason can be summed up in one word: Obamacare.

“Comprehensive” is Washington-speak for “big.” And in the wake of the Obamacare debacle, no one is interested in anything big from Barack Obama.

“I try to focus not on the fumbles but on the next plan,” Obama said this weekend. But when you fumble as spectacularly as the president did with Obamacare, people don’t trust your next plan.

It’s not just that Americans don’t trust the president’s competence. Increasingly, they don’t trust him — period. A majority believe the president passed Obamacare on the basis of a lie. And when you lie to people, they stop listening to you. Obama’s State of the Union address garnered the lowest ratings of any president in 14 years — with 19 million fewer viewers than his first address in 2009. Obama can’t rally the country around big ideas when millions of Americans are tuning him out.

I'm constantly surprised (though, I suppose I shouldn't be) that women today (on the whole) despise being treated well, respected, having doors opened, chairs pulled out, coats taken, et al. because they read it as a sign of mild disdain.

No, bitches.  All of those things are signs of respect and deference to the supposedly classier, more attractive, sometimes delicate, mostly lady-like gender.

Look.  I grew up with a southern mother and I served on active duty.  Showing respect to a woman is hard-fucking-wired.  It's going to happen.  Just say thank you and move on with your day.

... most people don't know, but Richard Nixon considered himself a "liberal," so it's not hard to be less liberal than Nixon when your basically a fascist.

Hello from Sydney!

Cool night - first touch of Autumn however here in Sydney I don't expect snow in winter - I don't even  own a pair of gloves - not needed here

Talking about understanding people's accents from elsewhere - I have a little trouble following the podcasts if the speaker talks fast - my American accent detecting mechanism in my brain fails occasionally!

If the podcasts were on the telly I'd need subtitles (only sometimes) "smiley face" which I can't do here sadly

Try to get same man that investigated Scooter Libby. I donÂ’t remember if it was a prosecutor or investigator that ruined Scooter Libby. May Colin Powell & Richard Armitage rot for their lies. I did not include that in my note. Embrace Tea Party, Speaker owes his job & Congressional majority to Tea Party. Welcome any support that you may have. On Monday evening, Deegan returned from Columbus and retrieved his gun. He headed home to Fort Pierce without criminal charges, unlike more than 1,000 armed passengers arrested at U.S. airports last year, according to interviews and records.

175 So a TV interviewer says to Seinfeld, "Quelle horreur! So many white men on your new show!" Seinfeld says screw racial/gender quotas. I'm not having them on my show. Exact Seinfeld quotes from the article (See Vic #24): "It really pisses me off," he said. "People think [comedy] is the census or something, itÂ’s gotta represent the actual pie chart of America. Who cares?" "Funny is the world that I live in. YouÂ’re funny, IÂ’m interested. YouÂ’re not funny, IÂ’m not interested," he said. "I have no interest in gender or race or anything like that." Translation by illiterate Gawker reporter: "He seems to suggest that any comedian who is not a white male is also not funny, though heÂ’s also likely fed up with the amount of bad comedy heÂ’s been forced to sit through in his (waning) career." Who then goes on to list a few people who aren't white males who have been on Seinfeld's show. And the brilliant Gawker reporter ends with this profound statement: "In conclusion: Yes, comedy should represent the entire pie chart of America, and the glorious, multicolored diversity pie should be thrown directly at Jerry SeinfeldÂ’s face." Honestly, this is getting out of hand. Liberalism is melting the brains of people into mush.

176 The U.S. abortion rate dropped in 2011 to its lowest point since the Supreme Court's 1973 ruling legalized the procedure in Roe vs. Wade, and the number of abortions fell by 13 percent between 2008 and 2011, according to a study by a research institute that supports abortion rights.

There were about 1.06 million abortions in 2011, as compared to roughly 1.2 million in 2008, says the research by the Guttmacher Institute, as reported by The Associated Press.

The abortion rate dropped to 16.9 abortions per 1,000 women ages 15 to 44 in 2011, down from 16.3 in 1973, says the study, which will be published in March.

The abortion rate in 2011 looks significant particularly in light of the highest rate of 29.3 recorded in 1981.

WASHINGTON -- South Jersey Congressman Rob Andrews will resign from Congress later this month to take a job with a prominent Philadelphia law firm, a source close to the situation said Tuesday morning.

Andrews, a DemocRAT in his 24th year in the House, will resign around President's Day weekend, the source said. He will take over a public affairs job at the firm, according to the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity and did not want to name the firm in advance of Andrews' announcement.

214 The Gawker turds are dumb even by MFM standards. If Special Ed Schultz worked for some online sack of shit, it would be Gawker. Posted by: Captain Hate at February 04, 2014 09:04 AM (zjT4v) I don't know. Gawker may be too intellectually advanced for Special Ed. Pat and Stu make fun of him often, deservedly.

215 I had a chemistry professor for two different classes, if you didn't want to do chemistry all you had to do was ask him about cricket. Australian. And actually one of the best teachers (like actually teaching the subject)I ever had. And the girl that sat beside me, perfect, always enjoyed studying with her. (Well maybe she wasn't perfect because she didn't have a foreign accent but otherwise yes) Apropos of nothing.

I just watched it for the first time, and they were actually pretty good. For some reason they sang Jojo twice in what seemed like about a seven song set. http://bit.ly/1lyv2fG

No I don't think objecting to the Coke Ad is silly. It's fuckin America: SPEAK ENGLISH. NOTHING DIVIDES A COUNTRY FASTER THAN RELIGION AND LACK OF A COMMON LANGUAGE!

------------

OK, devil's advocate...

My  great grandparents immigrated here - one side spoke German, the other Italian.  True, they learned English as best they could, but it was still broken English, and really their kids were the bilingual ones (for example, German in the home, English in the world).

No room in America for them?  They were incredibly in love with their new country, flew a flag in their yard every day of their lives, did their best to fit in and contribute, etc etc.

For me the objection isn't so much language as it is the lack of wanting to assimilate.  I would take one person like my German-speaking great grandparents over a thousand highly-literate Mexican socialists.

221 Does anybody know how Fluke is wired in to donk central?  Somebody has to be looking out for such a shitbag of non-accomplishment.  Usually when somebody is an obvious carpetbagger like Bobby Kennedy and Rodham were by running in New York, they're pretty well known for doing something, albeit tied into a sibling or "husband".  Fluke is only known for giving some dimwitted speech in front of a congressional committee followed up by Rush's comments.  Reports of her speaking at places during the 2012 campaign were attended only by her herd of crab lice.  I realize that the dickholes in Waxman's district are as dumb as planks but even those shitheads should have some sense of pride to not want some dumbass outsider coming in and representing them.

You know, if we really were a melting pot, all ethnicities coming to the table and becoming one America, the reaction may have been different.  But the PC leftists have so distorted what it means to be an American, on purpose.  When you repeatedly take hits against your own identity and your own culture, things like "America the Beautiful" being sung in multiple languages is offensive.

Posted by: Vortex Lovera at February 04, 2014 09:00 AM (wtvvX) ============================ I think it's probably more likely a "corruption isn't paying me enough" resignation, and George Norcross found him a better paycheck. Andrews is as scummy as they come, so I wouldn't count him out for more political office down the road. He might run for Governor, for example, as state Democrats are convinced Christie wants to move to Washington, either as part of the national Republican ticket or as Holders successor in a GOP administration. Democrats are starting to maneuver to replace him, and maybe this is part of that.

I wouldn't trust Cantor as far as I could kick him.  He's been stumping for amnesty for a long time; much longer than Paul Ryan's "evolution".  This guy was supposed to be a "conservative" voice in 2008 and he's been a continual disappointment ever since I heard that.  Either he made a pact with Top Men or his reputation was a giant turd-ridden cesspool right from the get go.

242 Third hand smoke is the deposition on horizontal surfaces and walls etc. Posted by: Vic Well, I kinda gathered that. But I ignored it 'cause I had a dirty-implication joke to make. Tobac is nasty. Weed has a heavier initial perfume, but it really does not cling to everything like tobaccy. Had plenty of exposure to both to judge. Mom, giving up cigs in her 70s (20 years ago!) after fifty years of smoking, much of it full of nagging by her kids: "Cigarettes make everything smell terrible. Why didn't anyone tell me?" Siiigh. Habituation can cause cognitive disonance.

249 "No I don't think objecting to the Coke Ad is silly. It's fuckin America: SPEAK ENGLISH. NOTHING DIVIDES A COUNTRY FASTER THAN RELIGION AND LACK OF A COMMON LANGUAGE!" Posted by: Nevergiveup Sigh! Now I have to track down a Coke ad so I can decide for myself about its politics. I get the impression it's no different than the "teach the world to sing" thing, but there seems to be some thinking it's more harshly propagandistic than that. These days it can be hard to separate simple celebration of actual diverse cultures from the push to institutionalize balkanization. I greatly appreciate our diversity. I like Spanish! (Grew up in Spanish-influenced SW, & it's the only 2nd language I ever studied, since Latin doesn't count.) I'm happy my kids grew up in a truly diverse Chicago neighborhood where we could walk out thus door and might hear Mandarin, Swahili, or Polish spoken on the street. That sound like I'm opposing assimilation, civic education, or proper path to citizenship? I'm not. That's the difference. Is Coke just doing the celebrating diversity or pushing an America-undermining agenda? If we weren't at war, I might think having America the Beautiful sung in the languages of the world would be a patriotic pro-American message. I've mentioned this before, but one day here in Smallville, I was behind some Japanese ladies at the cafeteria as they attempted to communicate with the Hispanic salad lady. I could understand both thickly-accented English speakers, and I was amused how the "glitches" in pronunciation of each fell right into the glitches of hearing and they couldn't understand each other. I was going to jump in and translate English to English but they worked it out with feminine intuition and gesticulation. Might have a similar situation with someone from South Texas and someone from the Bronx. Diversity! Boy, the thread must be dead and over by now, huh?

253 Anyone recall what the name of the vitamin is that is supposed to help beat the seasonal blues? Is it vitamin B?

You need B Complex. It's a bunch of B vitamins that all work in concert together. Solaray is a reliable brand, and if you take it for a couple weeks and you have a deficiency, you'll see a difference in your mood (stress especially depletes B vitamins, as does alcohol).

B vitamins are one of only a very few studied that seem to actually be worth taking.
