Your Own Personal Music Theme (genghis)
— Open Blog

I was thinking about a column I read a few years ago at CollegeFootballNews (A smart military blog) by Pete Fiutak. CFN’s a great site if you dig college football and Fiutak’s Tuesday “Cavalcade of Whimsy” column is a can’t miss. It reads like Ace’s posts except it’s about sports. You will of course tear your hair out at Matthew Zemek’s columns. He’s an unabashed lefty from Seattle and manages to throw his politics into every article he writes. Worse still, the length of his columns makes Gabe’s posts look like Cliff Notes.

Anyway, back to the topic: Fiutak wrote that what he wanted was a theme song that would follow him around everywhere and would play wherever he wentÂ…walking down the street, entering a room, while getting laid etc.

I think IÂ’ve finally picked mine out. It's old, but it works. (posted below the fold) But whatÂ’s yours? Provide supporting evidence of your choice and a link to your song in the comments.

Update: Thanks to "YIKES!" in the comments, I've decided to reevaluate my theme song and am considering going with his/her suggestion, now posted below the fold. Yes, I think this is the one.

Palin Power vs. Benign Biden
— Jack M.

A tale of two campaign rallies in the Battleground State of New Mexico.

Sarah Palin: Draws 10,000 people (and maybe a Space Alien or two) to an event in Roswell today.

Joe Biden: Draws 2,500 people to an event in Mesilla (That's pronounced Messiah in Spanish I think...damn the Obama campaign and their subtlety!) on Friday.

Gore carried New Mexico by 300 votes in 2000. Bush carried it by 6,000 in 2004.

As Sarah Palin was outdrawing her competitor by 7,500 people, Peggy Noonan was disappointed to learn that C-Span's Green Room offered camembert but not brie.

Powell: It's Not About Race
— Ace

Drudge has everything you'd want to read, in the upper right corner.

Note Drudge's flashback:

FLASHBACK: Powell Told students an African-American president would be 'electrifying'...

This is about race, but only partly so. It's also largely about liberalism.

Colin Powell is a liberal, and always has been.

Another Drudge slug:

POWELL: 'I would have difficulty with two more Republican appointments to Surpeme Court'...

"Republicans" can argue about a lot of things -- including Roe v. Wade -- but I'm afraid the proposition that the courts should permit the actual political branches to decide political issues is pretty much non-negotiable.

Colin Powell was never a Republican. He was a military officer who knew how to play the political game during a period dominated by Republicans. Of course he kissed Republican ass. Just as he kissed Bob Woodward's ass to make sure he always came out smelling like roses in his books.

The Republican Party has always used Powell, just as he's used us in turn. We have promoted this dubious figure as -- let's admit it -- a bit of a token, proof that black people like us.

But he's never been on our side. He's always been a liberal, and, moreover, he's always been on Colin Powell's side.

Media Vetting Website Launches
— Ace

Tips being solicited.

Update: People want to know if I have anything to do with this website.

The answer is no -- except for the inspiration.

I think I know who's behind it, but I don't want to say unless (s)he's willing to say so her/himself.

Joe Wurzelbacher on Huckabee
— Ace

Key quote: "When you can't ask a question of our leaders anymore, that gets scary."

Understatement of the day year history of the once republic.

Desperate Campaign Resorts to Dishonest Robocalls
— Ace

Democrats now have "Joe Sellers the Plumber" making calls on behalf of Obama.

Well, look! He is a plumber, and he is named Joe. Perfectly accurate to refer to him as Joe the Plumber, right?

Thanks to CJ.

And in Colorado: Joe Martinez the Plumber: A reader tips:

Just saw this over at the Puffington Host....

O is trying to confuse the voters on who Joe the Plumber is. He has his own JtP (some guy in Co) and is putting out robocalls....

Barack Obama's campaign is trotting out its own "Joe the Plumber" to counteract efforts by John McCain to make inroads on the white working class vote.

A reader in Colorado sends over word that the state Democratic Party and the Obama camp are blasting out robocalls from "Joe Martinez," a plumber in Colorado who vouches for the Illinois Democrat's tax plan.

A spokesman for the Colorado Democratic Party confirmed the robocall and said he would try to track down audio. The rough script goes like this:
"...During this week's debate, Barack Obama talked about cutting taxes for middle class families like mine, lowering health care costs for everyone and bringing the change we need in Washington. John McCain ignored the issues and used the debate to launch false attacks against Barack Obama. In fact, McCain - for the third debate in a row - didn't even say the words 'middle class'. So, take it from Joe the plumber, if you want a president who will put middle class families first - join me in voting for Barack Obama. Paid for by the Colorado Democratic Party...."So now, they're trying to corrupt the message about Joe the Plumber and pretend he really is for Obama's tax plan... pitiful.

This is a different Joe as the first one was ID'd as from Falls Church, Virginia, and this one is from Colorado.

Update: Not Only Did Obama and Ayers (and Communist Party Leader Mike Klonsky) Work in the Same Office -- It Was a Small Office
— Ace

Newsbusters uses Google earth to find the office building-- but it's not there anymore, it's been demolished.

However, one can see from the footprint it wasn't any bigger than 50 x 50.

ObamaAyersSangamonSmall1008.jpg

"Crossing paths?" I'd say fucking so.

I'd like everyone to now ponder that this information -- the shared office, the "favorite book," Obama mentioned in Ayers' book -- is now proven via documents. It's not merely heresay -- it's proven.

And yet no one in the MSM will report it.

Even FoxNews isn't reporting it -- which pisses me off, because I know at least one Fox guy reads this site.

Greta, Greta -- you kinda-liberal gal who has surprised and delighted us all by being among the first to pick up on dextrosphere blog buzz. Greta, this seems kind of important, doesn't it?

And on the Congressional Side... In 2006 the media was very, erm, scrupulous about promoting Republican Congressional scandals.

They assured us that they would do this if it were Democrats, too -- they were only interested in a good story.

Well, there are now two (or three) serious Democratic scandals -- one dealing with sex in Mark Foley's own district; the other less sexy but far more substantive, regarding the Democrats' responsibility for the Subprime fiasco -- and they don't seem as "only interested in a good story" as previously alleged.

Unless you take "good story" to mean "a story which hurts Republicans." Which is, in fact, exactly how they mean it.

Oh, She's TICKED OFF.
— LauraW

PUMA bomb. Kind of long. This lady has been targetted for suppression by O-bots and she's on a tear of a rant.

"You cannot attack the individuals you need to support you."

"...when everything is going good, the American people are ready for change. When the poll numbers go down, everybody's racist."

"The supporters of Senator Obama do more harm to his campaign than he does when he opens his mouth."

"Instead of sitting here telling us we're going through stages of grief, you should have heard the call for what it was. No Obama, no way, no how, no Obama. But you didn't want to listen to those things..."

Don't know what Captain Bullshit's posse could do to woo the PUMAs back to their side, but I will hazard that adding insult to injury is probably the opposite of whatever it is.

Thanks to politicalmuse in JackM.'s Joe Biden post below.
