Or... Does It?
— Ace Tom Maguire steps pretty far out on a limb with this bit of speculation.
But it would explain why Barack Obama's "lost years" at Columbia have remained so very very secret.
More: I don't think Maguire believes the bomber thing, and I don't either.
However, given that Obama cannot seem to name a single college friend -- and most long-term friendships that survive into adulthood are formed in college -- it seems like a pretty fair bit of speculation that Obama simply does not want to name his college friends, as they would discredit him.
And his friends, knowing a bit about cell structure and not the biological sort, know better than to speak up.
Does anyone believe Obama's cover story that this extrovert and political animal just disappeared into the library for two years?
Because I don't.
Thanks to someone.

— Ace Hate of Republicans, I mean.
Odd that this sort of thing is reported on right-leaning blogs and magazines and nowhere else in the world.
The crisis of Republican "hatred"... as Instapundit says, "I'll believe it's a crisis when the people insisting it's a crisis start acting like it's a crisis." more...

— Jack M. One of Barack Obama's 57 states is holding its own elections today, so I figured I'd throw up a quick link.
It's cute that the Canadians think that their "elections" matter much. It has less importance in the grand scheme of things than who is elected head of my neighborhood watch program, but it's precious to watch the little hosers act all grown up and stuff.
In fact, even though the polls have not yet closed the Ace of Spades Decision Desk is prepared to make it's official call:
Sarah "Hockey Mom" Palin is still freaking hot, and should be at the head of this year's GOP ticket.

— Ace Hang on, trying to find the cite. I have the download of the ruling.
Okay. I'm having trouble selecting text to copy and the file is too big to upload. The basics are that Ohio had a system for matching voter information to information from databases, and the state was supposed to alert the county boards of election when "voters" from their jurisdictions failed to match up with known information.
Secretary of State Brunner -- a hyperpartisan Democrat -- simply "turned off" (in the court's words) this legally-mandated process for no offered explanation, thus compelling, effectively, local boards of elections to accept all registrations and votes, even from the huge pool of highly suspect ACORN registrants.
The court compels her to do her fucking job as the law demands.
Correction: Sorry, scanning, missing the nuance. This is not a final order; this merely reinstates the TRO which had previously compelled her to turn the verification system back on, while awaiting a full hearing.
Which may occur after the election.
But for now, she is compelled to do her job, absent a contrary ruling by the court.
As I believe the standard in all TRO requests is a likelihood of prevailing on the merits, it looks good as far as the ultimate disposition.
This guy, though, knows what he's talking about and you should read him.
And the PDF: Now uploaded.

Left to Right: Liberal NBC Middle East reporter Rich Engel,
Christopher Buckley,
k.d. lang's girlfriend clearly misidentified as
Markos "Daily Kos" Zounigopopolis or whatever his name is,
Arianna Huffington
Guys from the neighborhood. Pic from a book expo May 31.
Via Nice Deb.
Correction: I have no, repeat, no idea how I read the words "Rich Engel" and they wound up in my brain as "Sam Harris."
They're not even close.

— Ace Interesting, 1000 applications were turned in late. Which means that those thousand are automatically disqualified.
Dan Riehl thinks it's a good idea to keep an eye on those 1000 late registrations... to see what fraction of them are 1) real and 2) Republican.

— Ace Nautical metaphors may sink Obama. Ayers, a rich kid, delights in yachting and oceanic metaphors.
Strangely, so does a memoir by poor single-parent kid Barack Obama.
But it's the curious anecdote of the Hudson River flowing both ways, depending on the tides, appearing in both Bill Ayers' and "Barack Obama's" book that is the tell.
Thanks to Uncle Jefe.
Time Line: Maybe Jack Cashill should take note of this -- Ayers, a prolific writer, seems to stop writing his own books when "Obama's" books are being written.
And... Barack Obama did not only serve on a board with William Ayers.
He also served on a board, as late as 2004, with William Ayers' brother, John Ayers.
I'm sure this is all just because he was a guy in the neighborhood, though.
Thanks to wes.

— Ace He seems like a really awesome guy, a rara avis, which is I think a precious Latin way to say "rare bird." As a fellow erudite, on the ball fellow, I endorse him, because really, he's awesome and all like I said earlier, and also Sarah Palin is not nearly as qualified as lifelong dullard Joe Biden ("lifelong dullard" is a Latinate phase meaning "crafty statesman") and furthermore I am worried that Sarah Palin will continue faking pregnancies if she becomes President, like if there's a major foreign crisis, Bam!, out comes the fat suit, and she tries to tell people to go away because her water's breaking as she hides beneath the Resolute Desk.
And incidentally-- who's funding those fat suits, anyway?
In addition, I think it is despicably, unforgivably racist to attempt to "link" someone to their close associates, mentors, and political allies. And pastors.
And wives.
And their stated policies, for that matter. And their clearly announced, videotaped statements.
What, did I just wake up in the Jim Crow south? It's a high-tech lynching, for goodness sakes.
So here is my official endorsement.
Incidentally, and this is utterly unrelated and I don't know why I think to mention it now, but I have a really good screenplay, could easily gross $300 million, and so I'm just mentioning that even in this post, you know, for shits and giggles, but in case anyone connected with the industry is reading, hey, give me a call, let's do lunch and get into bed and all those cliches from the eighties.

— Ace Oh, how happy they are to be part of the Smart Set!
Kathleen Parker demands to know -- seriously -- "Who's funding?" Palin's new hairdo and wardrobe.
As Ann Coulter said when confronted with the fact that Kathleen Parker had turned on Palin, "The Kathleen Parker? The Kathleen Parker?"
Yes, the Kathleen Parker, a seldom quoted not-quite-conservative columnist who is now reduced to hinting that Dark Forces paid for Palin's $200 haircut.
Buckley embed below the post. "You're a great novelist," The Man with the Thrill Up His Leg enthuses over the MSM's new favorite rara avis.

— Ace Christopher Buckley just sent me an email expressing his "secular prayers" that radical leftist Barack Obama would abandon his Gaza-a-Go-Go impulses.
Jesse Jackson doesn't think that likely.
PREPARE for a new America: That's the message that the Rev. Jesse Jackson conveyed to participants in the first World Policy Forum, held at this French lakeside resort last week.He promised "fundamental changes" in US foreign policy - saying America must "heal wounds" it has caused to other nations, revive its alliances and apologize for the "arrogance of the Bush administration."
The most important change would occur in the Middle East, where "decades of putting Israel's interests first" would end.
Jackson believes that, although "Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades" remain strong, they'll lose a great deal of their clout when Barack Obama enters the White House.
"Obama is about change," Jackson told me in a wide-ranging conversation. "And the change that Obama promises is not limited to what we do in America itself. It is a change of the way America looks at the world and its place in it."
But does Jesse Jackson know Barack Obama's rara avis mind better than, say, Christopher Buckley? He says he does
Jackson warns that he isn't an Obama confidant or adviser, "just a supporter." But he adds that Obama has been "a neighbor or, better still, a member of the family." Jackson's son has been a close friend of Obama for years, and Jackson's daughter went to school with Obama's wife Michelle.
Another guy from the neighborhood.
