— Gabriel Malor Here's another quick summation for those who couldn't bring themselves to watch. Honestly, I think you were the lucky ones. This debate was excruciating even during the liveblog, which usually increases the heh-factor of these things. (Incidentally, in case you missed it my Vice Presidential debate cheat sheet is here.)
Missing from this debate: immigration, abortion, guns, courts, voter fraud. There were no questions about those topics and the candidates didn't bring them up on their own initiative.
The following table is in the order in which the questions were asked. The typical format was for a question to come from the audience (pre-screened, of course) or by email (read by Brokaw), which is then answered by the candidates in turn, and then for Brokaw to ask a "one-minute follow-up", which is then answered by the candidates. Several times the candidates would go over their alloted time. Often, Brokaw tried to rein them in, mostly without success. Obama, especially, kept trying to interrupt to get the last word in questions where McCain, by rights, should have had the final answer. I have included the most egregious interruptions and cross-talk below because I expect that's going to be mentioned around water-coolers in the next day and this way you can act like you know what's being talked about.
I have tried to be fair in cutting each candidate's responses down to a manageable size (not always successfully). I used the candidates' own language as much as possible, but have paraphrased occasionally. The candidate who got to speak first on each question is marked with a ‡ symbol. A rush transcript of the debate is at CNN; watch out, at the time of this posting it isn't entirely accurate. more...

— Ace Ugh. Barack Obama is a lying c... country western singer, but no game changer, so effectively he wins.
McCain has one debate and two weeks of serious negative campaigning left. That's all that can help.

Original Post:
Question: How strenuously will McCain avoid discussing Democratic responsibility for the subprime crisis, and thus consign himself to ignoble defeat?
Why I'm Asking: Someone asks, "Didn't you watch McCain's speech yesterday?" Well, yeah. I red-fonted it. Twice.
But my worry is that he still thinks "I can't win on that issue" and offered that red meat to appease increasingly exasperated bloggers, blog-readers, and conservative news-junkies generally.
Do I know he wants to drop the issue? No. I sure hope he doesn't. But if you've been watching McCain for any length of time, you may have noticed He has difficulty admitting error and changing course.
Google Alert: Obama has packed these things with Code Pinkos and other partisans before. Everyone get ready to Google those names, and Opensecret.org their claims of being either "lifetime Republicans" or "uncommitted independents."
Oh, try to keep a record of the names and any other identifying information about these "independents," maybe entering them into the comments. Slublog will also run a lexis/nexis search on them. more...

— Ace Goldberg reminds you of how doddering and dumb Biden was.
This was Thursday.
Not a single media source in the MSM has noted Biden's gaffes, nor sought clarification on them. I have not seen a single "fact check" noting, for example, that no one (certainly not "we") ever "kicked Hezballah out of Lebanon," that Article I defines the legislature and not, as Constitutional Law expert Joe Biden expertly opined, the executive, or that Pakistani missiles could hit Israel.
This is astounding. I expected them to spin and downplay these errors -- but not to embargo and censor them together.
The difference between the Soviet Union and today's America? The press in today's America doesn't have to be threatened into whitewashing the news in favor of the official party line.
Update: Hugh Hewitt says he'll see if he can get Cilizza to answer this question in the third hour of today's show.

— Ace We've officially become Sissy Nation. The number of men who are simply flat-out pussies -- and apparently proud of it -- is approaching 40%, if it hasn't already hit that.
And they're all, of course, voting for Effete Metrosexual Sissy Obama.
hose of us with vivid memories of middle school have seen Gov. Sarah Palin's type before. She was the girl who was always the first to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and the last to stop instigating fights in the cafeteria. She was the girl who always had just enough self-awareness to know when the boys were paying more attention to her than to other girls. Her specialty was flattering the alpha boys around her. Terrified of losing her exalted place, she quickly perfected the art of saying nothing of consequence. She rambled because the boys thought it was cute. If she ever had an original thought in her head, she was discreet enough to keep it to herself. She was the conformist who fancied herself a leader.
From an early age, she knew the power of a strategically placed hand on the bicep of some jock. Girls like Sarah Palin knew how to secure a place with the "in crowd." After all, she was the girl with the iridescent smile who provided the laugh track for the meatheads roaming the halls pulling wedgies on those who would never qualify as "their kind of people."
Like a lot of bullies, Sarah Palin talks tough when she's surrounded by people of like mind and even less imagination; the more gullible the mob of admirers, the better. That has always been the case with demagogues. Sarah Palin subscribes to the same strain of American anti-intellectualism and fake populism as Huey Long, Spiro Agnew and other media-savvy scoundrels from the last century.
"Those of us with vivid memories of middle school." That gives the game away right there. These sissymen are still nursing grievances about being unpopular in middle school. They just can't get over it.
But Sarah Palin is the one with the problem.
Tony Norman, you were a weedy, repulsive little shit in middle school and you've grown -- sort of -- into a warped, stooped inadequate man-child still stinging from and spitting over playground insults. Must all of America continue paying for you inadequacies and pathologies?
Why not leave voting to those who can separate national politics from homeroom politics?

Note that Howard Kurtz will publish an embarrassing comment left at Michelle Malkin's in order to denigrate the right, but he won't publish a single comment from DKos or DU, and he sure the fuck won't publish this.
His IP traces to Venezuela, assuming it's real. (190.73.202.165.)
Sorry... I should have blanked the information about the soldier the first time around.
