Can they at least stop facilitating it?

Didn't live up to NBC's "standards," huh? Was just taken down because of the "people who should be shot" chyron, huh?
Apparently you can smear Bush and Palin all you like, but when you properly nail Barney Frank on blocking crucial regulation, that's "unfair" as far as NBC goes.
n an interview with Gold, the show's executive producer, Lorne Michaels, said the Sandlers were distraught but had not demanded the changes. He noted the "People who should be shot" line was deleted as was a reference to their "corrupt activities."But a comparison of the two versions shows that actually a little more than that was cut. What also was excised was any mention of the involvement of Massachusetts' Rep. Frank in the Sandler subprime mess.
Frank is the influential chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and an ardent political protector of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which participated in the subprime problem.
In the original skit Sandler addresses Frank, saying, "And thank you, Congressman Frank, as well as many Republicans for helping block Congressional oversight of our corrupt activities."
To which Frank replies enthusiastically, "Not at all!"
All that's gone in the new version, which Show Tracker has posted here.

— Ace Sneaking Ayers In Again: A while ago I linked this must-read City Journal piece by John Murtaugh, about the night the "radicals" of the Weather Underground tried to murder his entire family.
McCainis now rolling him out. We need an advertisement with him telling his story to the camera, not a mere statement, though.
More on Ayers' relevance from Michael Barone.
Ad: Dave in Garfield Ridge is workin' on a spec script.
VO:"Terrorists."
"Timothy McVeigh. Bombed the federal builiding in Oklahoma City"
"Ted Kaczynski. Bombed universities across America"
"Eric Rudolph. Bombed abortion clincs and the Olympic Park""Bill Ayers. Bombed the Pentagon and the U.S. Capitol"
Working together, Barack Obama and Bill Ayers spent millions promoting a radical agenda in our schools. Barack Obama launched his political career from Bill Ayers' living room.
Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says "They're friends, so what?"
Ask yourself: Could you be friends with a terrorist?Barack Obama was.
Is.
More: From Bob Owens.
More: Obama's communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis -- admitted by Obama to be his mentor in his books, but only naming him as "Frank," and forgetting to mention he was a lifelong radical and communist.
The speculation is that Obama met Ayers at Columbia because proxy father Frank Marshall Davis told his ersatz son he'd connect him up with "the right people."

>We spent a month on Palin's nonexistent membership in the AIP.

Anyone think the MSM will follow-up here?
The New Party was a radical left organization, established in 1992, to amalgamate far left groups and push the United States into socialism by forcing the Democratic Party to the left. It was an attempt to regroup the forces on the left in a new strategy to take power, burrowing from within. The party only lasted until 1998, when its strategy of “fusion” failed to withstand a Supreme Court ruling, but after, but the membership, including Barack Obama, continued to move the Democrats leftward with spectacular success.
More at Nice Deb. Actually not much more, but instead a nice tiny-bites digest.
First Link: Since this guy did the detective work, maybe check him first.
Look, there has long been speculation that this asshole didn't meet Ayers in Chicago, but rather at Columbia, where both were when Obama was there. The suspicion is that Ayers is hardly "just a guy from a neighborhood," but rather a mentor who shaped his career -- including getting him a job as a community activist.
Does this prove that? Not yet. We'll see.
Bleg: Can someone -- multiple people, really -- start backing up the archive.org pages Politically Drunk found, before they are disappeared?
No Quarter Has More; Pardon the lack of hat tip, I'm just scrambling to get this up.
No Quarter has more. A reader calls it "pretty well sourced."
It's Old? Human Events had this in June.
So what? It's new to me, and new to most of the public. Plus I think the documents are new.

— DrewM As expected.
David C. Kernell, 20, was indicted by a federal grand jury in Knoxville, Tenn., for "intentionally accessing without authorization the e-mail account of Alaska governor Sarah Palin," the Justice Department says.Kernell's father is Tennessee State Rep. Mike Kernell.
...Kernell, if convicted, faces five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a three year term of supervised release.
Is it just me or does this whole story seem to have taken place a long time ago as opposed to about a month? It's been a long, long campaign.

— Slublog An economist sounds the alarm.
There are many historical precedents of bad policies following crises. The worst case was after the stock-market crash in October 1929, which produced a truly perfect storm of bad policies. Tax rates rose, tariffs rose (reflecting special interest groups attempting to insulate domestic producers from foreign competition), and both Presidents Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt strongly promoted industry-labor cartels that were designed to stifle domestic competition. The op-ed focuses on taxation, but it should be noted that Obama has shown 'concern' over NAFTA's lack of protection for union workers. One of Obama's economic advisors is Leo Hindery Jr, who supports the card-check law (which has the potential to substantially increase the power of unions) and tariffs. Obama's economic policies would be bad for the economy in normal circumstances. If implemented under present conditions, they have the power to be disastrous. In the absence of these policies, the Great Depression would almost certainly have been like every other U.S. recession -- short-lived and relatively mild.
...
I am particularly concerned about bad policies because significantly higher taxes have been proposed by Barack Obama. His plan would raise the marginal tax rate on the most productive workers more than 10 percentage points -- an increase that would bring us near Western European levels. His plan would also raise capital income taxes, taxing capital gains and dividends at 20%, compared to a 15% rate under Sen. John McCain's plan. A five percentage-point difference might strike you as small, but it is not. I have calculated that a five percentage-point difference in overall capital income taxation over the long haul is equal to a difference in the nation's capital stock of about 18%. This means a 6% difference in GDP and a 6% difference in the average wage rate. This means that real GDP and the average wage would fall, gradually but persistently declining about 6% after 25 years. That's not quite a Great Depression, but a significant step towards one.
Sounds like another perfect storm in the making. (h/t: Greg Mankiw)
