Not a joke. The real headline from the WaPo:

So, if I'm understanding this correctly, if Obama creates zero jobs by 2011, he has achieved his goal, as he "preserved" the 2.5 million jobs not lost.

Indeed, if he loses 2.5 million jobs, he preserved the additional 2.5 million jobs that would have been lost absent his lightworking economic policies.

Unbelievable.

And the WaPo carries this spin as a headline on page one.

The MSM will hold Obama's feet to the fire and demand that he rises to the level of performance of the average DMV worker. And they will not relent on this high bar for success.

In related news, Obama vows that he will not rest until Osama bin Ladin is either killed, captured, or comfortable.

I guess the report just wasn't fully vetted before the election.

With Obama elected, it's safe for our politicized intelligence agencies to report the truth.

A new study of the global future by U.S. intelligence agencies suggests that Al Qaeda may be on the decline, having alienated Muslim supporters with its indiscriminate killing and inattention to the practical problems of poverty, unemployment and education.

While not contradicting intelligence assessments suggesting that Al Qaeda remains a major threat with a strong presence in the tribal areas of Pakistan, the report says the group "may decay sooner" than many experts have assumed because of severe weaknesses: "unachievable strategic objectives, inability to attract broad-based support, and self-destructive actions."

Oh, so we were winning against Al Qaeda.

It's not so much that the Lightworker will bring good news, so much as the MSM and bureaucracies will start admitting good news now that it's time to boost that right track/wrong track number.

Obama Aides: About Repealing Those Evil "Bush Tax Cuts"? Someday But Not Anytime Soon

This stuff is almost getting to be laughable.

After railing for years about those "tax cuts for the rich" and promising to get rid of them to provide middle class tax relief, Team Hope And Change is suddenly singing a different tune.

During an appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Obama economic adviser William Daley suggested that the incoming administration would reconsider whether to quickly increase taxes for Americans earning more than $250,000 per year.

Daly, who was commerce secretary under former President Bill Clinton and is the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard Daly, said it looks “more likely than not” that Obama would not seek legislation to repeal President George W. Bush’s cut in the tax rate for the wealthiest Americans before it is scheduled to expire after the 2010 tax year. Bush cut the top rate to 35% from 39.6% in 2001.

Obama had promised to restore the top tax rate to its earlier level, while cutting taxes for the middle class.

Obama on Saturday outlined the framework of a plan to save or create 2.5 million jobs by the end of 2010, and is scheduled to introduce the leaders of his economic team on Monday.

David Axelrod, an Obama political strategist who was recently named as one of the president-elect’s senior White House advisers, also suggested during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday” that Obama was considering delaying the tax increase, but he did not elaborate.

Apparently it turns out raising taxes is bad for the economy. Who knew?

Of course as we know, Obama doesn't see tax policy as impacting wealth creation, for him it's all about wealth redistribution and 'fairness'.

Still, even with that kind of mindset it's funny how the facts of life are slapping The One in the face so soon after the election. It's almost as if a lot of what he said was just crap to get dumb people to vote for him.

MSNBC'S DAVID SHUSTER TAKES THE POINT ON "TURKEYGATE"

They just can't help themselves.

Shuster (who urges that young viewers be shielded from the interview) also seems appalled that Palin had “no worries” over being filmed at the tragic turkey massacre site. Even worse – bloodlusting bird-hater Palin admits she’ll actually cook a turkey for Thanksgiving. Among MSNBC’s captions:

Can’t MSNBC nancies even cope with bloodless background vision of a farm animal being offed? Just as well Palin never turned up on Iron Chef: “A lot of resistance being put up by that one!” Note that tiny Japanese actress Naomi Hosokawa is not nearly so squeamish as Shuster.

The concept of "taboo" is an ancient one. Note that while urban liberals mock the various religious taboos about sex and nudity, they're creating their own post-modern Leviticus concerning the taboo of seeing dirty filthy farmwork.

A taboo doesn't mean something is forbidden, necessarily. It just means there are a lot of rules about it. Apparently the new liberal Leviticus states that turkeys may be slaughtered by the hundreds of thousands as long as no one of any importance (i.e., anyone but the farmers involved) is around to witness it.

Actually... All that taboo stuff is pure bullshit. They're only doing this because it's Palin. If it were Obama, Biden, or any other Democrat, they'd be celebrating how comfortable he was to be on a farm. If they mentioned it at all, which they wouldn't.

Funny that Verizon doesn't recognize a "sudden fame" exception.

Verizon Wireless has fired the workers tied to the breach of records for a cell phone used by Barack Obama, according to CNN.

A source told CNN on Friday about the firings. The source wouldn't say how many people were involved. The workers had been placed on leave earlier this week during Verizon's internal investigation.

So is Verizon more serious about protecting people from invasions of privacy than Governor Ted Strickland, or is Barack Obama objectively a person more deserving of protection?

According to this article in the Seattle Times, the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission, a regulatory agency, is considering whether or not blogging is a form of lobbying.

”Blogger beware? State regulators are wondering whether online political activism amounts to lobbying, which could force Web-based activists to file public reports detailing their finances.”

“In a collision of 21st century media and 1970s political reforms, the inquiry hints at a showdown over press freedoms for bloggers, whose self-published journals can shift between news reporting, opinion writing, political organizing and campaign fundraising.”
