— Ace Huh.
What I need from you are the essential facts of when — the dates — the unit was deployed, to which brigade combat team, or other unit it was assigned, the name and current location of the captain, or other military personnel who shared the alleged facts with you, so that committee staff can debrief them.
More from Hot Air, and still more.
Check out Spruiell, too. His servicemember readers are not buying it.

I posted a comment pointing out that Obama's statement was contradicted by Jake's account, that it was totally ridiculous to think that the U.S. Army could be running out of guns (!), and that every war effort has its logistical snags (esp in remote areas like Afghanistan)... and the comment was deleted.Reposted, deleted again.
Odd.
Apparently dissent is no longer the highest form of patriotism.
That's Tall Dave's comment. Deleting comments? Good God All Mighty.

— Jack M. Not really. They pretty much embody the suck.
I feel safe in asserting that the following clip is, however, the GREATEST. MUSIC. VIDEO. EVER.*
Watch. Enjoy. Learn. Let go. Boldly go where no man has gone before. Feed your head!
*Among music videos that feature the music of Jefferson Airplane dubbed to Star Trek.

— Ace I'm calling shenanigans, though, on the "When did you choose to be straight?" question. That was set-up in advance, and Colbert had the answer scripted.
Still, pretty good.

— DrewM. 28 years ago today a bunch of scrappy college players beat the world's best hockey team at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.
If you are more than a couple of years under 40 years of age, you have no idea how big that game was. The country was still stuck in the 'malaise' of the Carter Administration, the Soviets had just invaded Afghanistan and the Iranian hostage crisis was in it's third month. Suffice it to say, it was not the brightest of times in America.
But then these guys just took it the big, bad Soviets and for a little while Americans seemed to remember greatness was possible and indeed preferable to accepting the idea that decline was inevitable.
A lot of people seem to think this was the gold medal game but it wasn't. The US had to turn around a day or two later and beat Finland for the gold.
UPDATE [Dave in Texas]: A little love for Coach Herb Brooks, RIP.
The victory of these kids was a riveting moment in my life, looking at a 21 13 inch screen with rabbit ears and taking it all in. It was magnificent. (ok, messed up. I've been exaggerating about inches for years)
Same TV I watched the Reagan shooting coverage.
Oh shit. I'm old.

— Dave In Texas This is Chicago flameout control. No flames, no worries. Everybody be happy.
I suspect but do not know (how could I? I'm a moron) that the signals were sent, message received.
ACK
It's not like her majesticness doesn't have a future. Head of the DNC?
(ok that made me giggle, but it's a real possibility).
Or a Tip O'Neill stature for a Senator who did so much less than he did to get there.
Influence. Is. Power.
And a license to keep eating pizza.
more: heh. skinbad gives us the Obamarama platform. Finally we get some details!

— Ace In one account of corruption, the party affiliation of the politician is the first word of the story.
In another account of a different corruption case by the same reporter, party affiliation is never directly mentioned at all, and the reader must wait until the ninth paragraph to even get an implication as to which party the corrupt pol might belong to.
What to guess which party gets what treatment?

— Ace It's like slapping up Adlai Stephenson. But, if you want to watch Hillary's supporters posting really annoying YouTube-y videos praising her, check it out. It's mildly amusing.
Dig the guy who claims he voted Republican in the past two elections but is all bashful about saying so because "as a Hollywood guy" that's going to get him screwed.
Via Rightwing Sparkle, who has breaking video of Ted Kennedy suffering a life-threatening brain aneurysm.
Or singing some song in Spanish. I'm not sure.
I could check, but I'm too busy counting my Blogger of the Year money.

Thanks Jake.
