— DrewM Friends, I post today not to praise but to bury Ron PaulÂ’s presidential campaign. Sure, itÂ’s not officially ending but close enough.
In an emailed message to supporters, Paul says, "Let me tell you my thoughts with Romney gone, the chances of a brokered convention are nearly zero." From Paul this is about as close as we can get to an admission there is no possible way he can get the nomination. The fact there won't be a brokered convention, "does not affect my determination to fight on, in every caucus and primary remaining, and at the convention for our ideas, with just as many delegates as I can get," he declares.
Â…He's just going to do it with even fewer resources than he already has. "With so many primaries and caucuses now over," writes Paul, "We do not now need so big a national campaign staff, and so I am making it leaner and tighter."
But fear not Paulbots, the good doctor is going to fight the good fight from his congressional seat. Presuming of course he survives a primary challenge.
"I have constituents in my home district that I must serve. I cannot and will not let them down. And I have another battle I must face here as well. If I were to lose the primary for my congressional seat, all our opponents would react with glee, and pretend it was a rejection of our ideas. I cannot and will not let that happen," he says.
And by good fight I mean the fight for pork for his district. You know, the kind heÂ’s always railing about in his presidential campaign.
Watch out all of you WoW and other online gamers...there are going to be a lot of pissed of players looking to take out their frustrations.

— Open Blog They say it will be a disaster for the Dems if they do not have a candidate selected by the convention.
As with most things they say, it is probably wrong.
I have been thinking a lot about this since the Mav got his Presumptive Nominee Merit Badge and I think that not having a nominee by the convention would actually help the Dems, 'specially if the nominee is BHO.
I see three main reasons:
1 The American voter is easily taken in by whatever is new and shiny and being that the election is only 10 weeks after the convention BHO would still have that new nominee smell.
2 In 10 weeks there is less chance for the nominee to make a career ending gaffe and blunder.
3 The Republicans would only get 10 weeks to focus attacks on the nominee.
Let's say (god forbid) Obama is the nominee that means there are only 10 weeks to hammer him on his liberal record, his support for partial birth abortion, his ties to Rezko, his lack of experience, and his pathological desire to lose in Iraq.
We would all prefer HRC to be the nominee but if it is to be Obama then it is best for us to have him become the presumptive as soon as possible. Right now he is riding a wave of popular support and is fresh like a Summers Eve, but he will become stale as time goes on and his momentum will wane in line with the Feiler Faster Thesis.
It is also important to remember that Obama is not all powerful, he lost when he ran for congress in 2000 and only won his senate seat because the other candidates, who were leading him in the polls, had scandals erupt during the campaign (Thanks Seven of Nine)*

— Ace I just finally got around to reading the comments today, and I'm really overcome at the nice sentiments offered.
Except for the Ewok shit. Faggits.
Bart, typically, brings me down with some snark: If only there were computers at CPAC with which Ace could say hello.
Well, okay: I woke up a the crack of 11:30. I dragged my hung-over, drag-ass-tired self to the Omni. (My mind was racing about the speech last night and I couldn't fall asleep 'till six.) I had to go through the green-room type dealio and hang out waiting for the speech for about a half hour. Then I did the thing, then some of the people who gave me the award wanted lunch.
Then... although I've been recognized at CPAC before this was a a weird year. A lot of people were coming up to congratulate me, especially readers of the site, and it's sort of hard to say "Thank you, I'd like to talk with you further, but right now I have to type into a computer. Please go away."
Anyway... yeah, look, it's hard to get stuff done here. Between talking to people and working... well, I can see from all the hits and comments here during working hours and not so much on the weekends which you guys think is the more attractive option.
Goldbrickers.

— Ace I really don't think it's terribly bad to say the Clintons are "pimping out" Chelsea. It's a common expression now. We know it doesn't literally mean "turning out as a whore."
It does show you how very, very solicitous NBC is of the Clinton's that David Shuster was suspended over this remark.
So if he didn't do anything much wrong here, why is he a dick?
I don't know, maybe because his daddy didn't love him enough. Or loved him too much. I'm not a psychologist.
The "pimping out" line is irrelevant. He is and always will be a dick. And he realizes just how limited his job prospects are. Otherwise he wouldn't give it up like a three-tooth three-dollar Tijuana tranny whore when the NBC brass said boo to him.
