The owner of Georgi vodka said he is in talks to put the derriere of former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's call girl on the backside of every bus in New York.

Star Industries CEO Martin Silver, who owns U.S. rights to the brand, told Ad Age his firm is making headway in talks to pay Ashley Dupre a low six-figure amount to be this year's Georgi "butt girl," the annual pinup the brand posts on the backs of city buses and the tops of taxicabs.

Talk about a Master of the Fucking Obvious (MFO) degree holder:

"This girl's gonna get inundated," he said. "She's worth a lot of money."

I really love how Democrats are shocked! shocked! to find out that the Clintons don't exactly have a close personal relationship with the truth.

Remember Hillary's death defying foray into Tuzla, Bosnia? You know the one that somehow proves she's got foreign policy experience? Eh, not so much.

Apparently, in light of the new evidence that catches Hillary in an outright lie, her previous statements are no longer operative. Her spokesman says she, 'misspoke' when she said it was so very, very dangerous. Apparently, she also 'misspoke' in her book.

I do so love this Democratic primary season.

She replied: "No, actually, there has been cooling, if you take 1998 as your point of reference. If you take 2002 as your point of reference, then temperatures have plateaued. This is certainly not what you'd expect if carbon dioxide is driving temperature because carbon dioxide levels have been increasing but temperatures have actually been coming down over the last 10 years."

Duffy: "Is this a matter of any controversy?"

Marohasy: "Actually, no. The head of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) has actually acknowledged it. He talks about the apparent plateau in temperatures so far this century. So he recognises that in this century, over the past eight years, temperatures have plateaued ... This is not what you'd expect, as I said, because if carbon dioxide is driving temperature then you'd expect that, given carbon dioxide levels have been continuing to increase, temperatures should be going up ... So (it's) very unexpected, not something that's being discussed. It should be being discussed, though, because it's very significant."

Duffy: "It's not only that it's not discussed. We never hear it, do we? Whenever there's any sort of weather event that can be linked into the global warming orthodoxy, it's put on the front page. But a fact like that, which is that global warming stopped a decade ago, is virtually never reported, which is extraordinary."

Duffy then turned to the question of how the proponents of the greenhouse gas hypothesis deal with data that doesn't support their case. "People like Kevin Rudd and Ross Garnaut are speaking as though the Earth is still warming at an alarming rate, but what is the argument from the other side? What would people associated with the IPCC say to explain the (temperature) dip?"

Marohasy: "Well, the head of the IPCC has suggested natural factors are compensating for the increasing carbon dioxide levels and I guess, to some extent, that's what sceptics have been saying for some time: that, yes, carbon dioxide will give you some warming but there are a whole lot of other factors that may compensate or that may augment the warming from elevated levels of carbon dioxide.

"There's been a lot of talk about the impact of the sun and that maybe we're going to go through or are entering a period of less intense solar activity and this could be contributing to the current cooling."

Fair use requires I stop right there, but you must click on to read the whole thing. The Aqua readings are discussed, as well as the apparent experimentally-derived suggestion -- contrary to all those Awesomeaciously Awesome Computer Models' core assumptions -- that the earth's atmosphere reacts to warming mostly by negative feedback, rather than runaway positive feedback. For example, models suggest that more warmth = more water vapor in the atmosphere = more trapped heat. In fact, actual empirical evidence suggests more warmth = more water vapor in the atmosphere = more clouds reflecting away incoming sunlight and thus reducing overall temperatures back down to the starting point.

As global warming skeptics have long contended was a likely outcome of increased warmth. A possibility generally ignored by global warming alarmists for two reasons:

1) it screws up their Doomsday Predictions

and

2) cloud behavior is little understood and hard to model mathematically and thus the super-awesome computer models run better with easier math if this factor is simply omitted.

This isn't about science. It's about theology. As G.K. Chesterton wrote (referenced at the end of that great Obama video I keep promoting), "When people stop believing in God, they don't believe in nothing -- they believe in anything."

The irrational -- or, to be fair to the religious, let us say arational -- impulse to read the Universe as fundamentally ordered on not just a physical but moral level remains in godless liberals. They simply don't believe it's God imposing a moral order through His laws. Instead, they imagine that the cold impersonal forces of a godless Universe nevertheless somehow conspire together to impose a moral order.

Where there is transgression -- greed, industry, wealthy, pollution -- there must still be a punishment, but this punishment is not imposed by God but instead by the strangely-anthropomorphic and God-ish natural forces of the Universe which will, we're informed, lay waste to our cities and cause the seas to boil and the skies to darken as if sackcloth unless we get right with God Gaia immediately. more...

Heh. I'm reminded of how dreadfully out-of-touch our MSM Betters were during the Amnesty Debate. Every pro-amnesty politician they praised as heroic; every poll was spun as demonstrating an American enthusiasm for amnesty.

Just because you wish it to be does not make it so.

Mark Steyn provides some Cliff's Notes to that and also wonders why it is that conservative politicians are forever asked embarrassing wedge-issue questions about evolution, whereas utterly bizarre conspiracy theories popular on the left side of the aisle like Trutherism and the CIA's concoction of AIDS as a genocidal weapon provoke so few questions.

Three counts: Perjury, Obstruction of Justice, and Conspiracy to Intimidate White People By Wearing Racially-Inflammatory Hats. Prosecutors are mulling the additional charge of Aggravated Haberdashery.

I think they got him dead-to-rights on that last one, because I didn't just piss my pants, I went downstairs, knocked on a neightbor's door, forced my way inside, and pissed in his pants as well.

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, a one-time rising star and Detroit's youngest elected leader, was charged Monday with perjury and other counts after sexually explicit text messages contradicted his sworn denials of an affair with a top aide.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy also charged the popular yet polarizing 37-year-old mayor with obstruction of justice and misconduct in office.

Former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty, 37, who also denied under oath that she and Kilpatrick had a romantic relationship in 2002 and 2003, was charged with perjury and obstruction of justice.

"Some have suggested that the issues in this case are personal or private," Worthy said. "Our investigation has clearly shown that public dollars were used, people's lives were ruined, the justice system severely mocked and the public trust trampled on. ... This case is about as far from being a private matter as one can get."

The charges could signal the end of Kilpatrick's six-year career as mayor of one of America's largest cities.

Perjury is a felony, punishable by up to 15 years in prison. A felony conviction would mean Kilpatrick's immediate expulsion from office under the Detroit City Charter. Calls for his resignation have surfaced since late January and the Detroit City Council asked him to step down last week.

Kilpatrick was to hold a noon news conference but had not yet appeared and his office and lawyers were not commenting. A message seeking comment from Beatty's attorney, Jeffrey Morganroth, was not returned.

Kilpatrick has said he would not resign and last week said he expects to be vindicated when all aspects of the scandal are made public.

Now I want you to all to listen to me, this one time. I did not. Have. Murderous relations. With that woman.

Although I can't tell, I am 99.9% sure the charges are only connected to his affairs in office and not directly to widespread suspicions he had something to do with the death of a stripper, so that last quip isn't exactly on-point.

Still. Those hats. They're practically a confession. It's like he wants to get caught.

I am not a huge fan of Five For Fighting (though itÂ’s a great name) but John Ondrasik just gets it. He knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are and isnÂ’t afraid to stay it. Sadly, thatÂ’s not a very common trait among todayÂ’s purveyors of pop culture.

Apparently the older gentleman in the video is actually a recipient of the Medal of Honor.

Then Gleen(s) made hay over Old Punk at Instapunk writing a nasty, racially insensitive post that called black people he didn't like "niggers."

Gleen(s) of course claimed that this was just like Obama and Wright, of course. Which has the curious effect of simultaneously damning Glenn Reynolds while excusing Barack Obama.

Dean (not Randy; sorry) Barnett wrote the so-painfully-obvious-it-should-never-have-been-written, but apparently Gleen(s), the most important blogger on the face of the earth (citation: Wilson) needs this explained to him:

"I missed the part where you spent twenty years using that secondary Instapunk guy as your spiritual mentor. I must have also missed the part where you declared your candidacy for president."

Gleen(s) and the left would like to pretend that Reverend Racist is just some dude who Obama had the misfortune to pass one day in the hallway. Of course he's not. Wright is Obama's close political ally and patron and has been such for 20 years. I hate even calling him Obama's "spiritual mentor," as Barnett does, because that's a sham. Obama wasn't attending Wright's church for the theology or Jesus-talk; he could have that from dozens of other black Christian churches in his neighborhood. He chose Wright because Wright's politics were sympatico to his own and he could give him credibility among voters he needed but who might otherwise be suspicious of him due to his tainted-by-white-blood heritage.

(Oh, and here's an important parenthetical: the "Black liberation theology" to which Wright subscribes isn't much about the transcendent or spiritual at all, but rather just rejiggered Marxism and smash-the-state radicalism with footnotes to Matthew and John. So, let's call it for what it is: As Wright and similarly-minded hateful radicals practice it, it's simply Farrakhanism with citations to a different nominal God and holy text.)

Gleen(s) and the left would do well to observe that Obama himself could not make the claim that Wright was "just some guy." Indeed, so profound and enduring were their connections that Obama had to go 180 degrees the opposite direction in attempting to relieve himself of blame: He had to actually claim that Reverend Wright was a de facto family member.

Obama himself thus bars the defense the dishonest left (but I repeat myself) finds most useful -- "He's just some dude I barely know!" That doesn't stop Gleen(s) or his various cobloggers (who really are like family to him; after all, the share the same DNA, and I do mean "the same") from making the dishonest claim, of course. more...

McCain doubted the relationship between Hussein was "close enough" to support the idea of a joint Iraq/Al Qaeda operation behind 9/11.

Thus signaling a sharp disagreement with the Bush Administration... which also denied any evidence of Hussein's hand in the attack.

And yet the LAT insists, again, the Bush Administration claimed precisely the opposite of what the Bush Administration claimed.

Fact checking? We're well beyond errors explainable by negligence. The fact that the LAT cannot supply a single quote to support its claim proves they know none exist.

This is, as is becoming increasingly common and increasingly transparent, the MSM simply lying.

They're not even trying to hide it anymore.

They are writing solely for a particular type of very partisan reader who will not ask for evidence of their claims or object very strenuously to their occasional flights of fancy and fiction, so long as those claims fit their own worldview; and they don't much care about the facts. It's The Narrative that matters both to their few remaining readers and to themselves.
