Another Amazing Moment From The Great National Dialogue On Race
— Ace

And on the seventh day, Obama rested.

Wow. This open, candid discussion with Obama is fraggin' awesome.

It's as awesome as a Corona commercial.

Given that he's catching z's on the Caribbean island of St. Thomas, I think it actually might be a Corona commercial. Or maybe one of those black and white Janet Jackson videos. Or Chris Issaks. You know the ones I mean. They look exactly alike, except one has Janet Jackson. And the other has Chris Issaks.

Both have models. Both look like Ansel Adams went into soft-core porn.

Anyway.

Obama's exorcised so so many of our nation's demons already, he deserves some shuteye. And, shit, he has definitely exorcised that Slice Ghost in his drive.

Man, I swear he was knocking them four hundred yards true down the fairway if he was hitting them six feet. Bangin' eagles all day long... for Old Glory.

Obama Stubbornly Persists in Foreign Policy Naivete
— Gabriel Malor

So we have these two articles published on the same day.

The first, what is supposed to be a triumphant announcement of a certain presidential candidate's grasp of foreign policy, "The Obama Doctrine", which includes this:

"There is a popular notion that Democrats have to try to appear like Republicans to pass some test on national security. The fact that that's still the case after Iraq is absurd," says one of Obama's closest advisers. "So you break from that orthodoxy and say 'I don't care if the Republicans attack me because I'm willing to meet with the leadership in Iran. We haven't for 25 years, and it's not gotten us anywhere.'"

The second, an unfortunate dose of reality:

Gen David Petraeus told the BBC he thought Tehran had trained, equipped and funded insurgents who fired the barrage of mortars and rockets.

He said Iran was adding what he described as "lethal accelerants" to a very combustible mix.

Sometimes the Universe conspires to embarrass.

NY Gubernatorial Follies...A Continuing Series
— DrewM

Well, itÂ’s been an eventful week for new New York Governor David Paterson. Sure he became Governor but since then itÂ’s been pretty much an embarrassing revelation a day.

Today Paterson hit the daily double, with not one but two announcements.

First, it turns out he spent state money on hotels purportedly so he could be on call to take part in legislative negotiations at the capital at a moment's notice. This despite the reality that the Lt. Governor rarely plays a role in such negations and oh yeah, he owns a house about 20 minutes from the capital building.

HmmmmÂ….what could David Paterson be doing in a hotel?

Now comes word that as a younger man he dabbled in pot and coke!

In reference to cocaine, Gov. David Paterson, 53, said in a television interview that he "tried it a couple of times" when he was "about 22 or 23."

"And marijuana probably when I was about 20," he said on the NY1 cable news station. "I don't think I touched marijuana since the '70s."

"More Americans have tried a lot more during that period of time and gone on to lead responsible lives and hopefully have lived their lives to their fullest," he said.

I donÂ’t think any of this will doom Paterson. HeÂ’s very popular among just about every political faction in Albany and no one is out to get him. When it came to Spitzer the only line was to see who got to push him over the cliff, not to defend him. Paterson will have lots of defenders.

That said, this scandal a day thing is getting annoying. When people in Arkansas and Louisiana are laughing at you (and with good reason), you know youÂ’ve got problems.

Excelsior!

"Biotown" USA Development Hampered by Lack of Money, Audacity of Vision, but Mostly Lack of Money
— Dave in Texas

Reynolds, Indiana was to become the first US community to meet all electricity and gas needs with renewable energy from farm waste and sewage.

3 years later, corn that was to have been used to fire energy generation systems lies unused waiting for equipment that likely never will be built.

The timetable was aggressive. State officials hoped to break ground in November 2006 on a $10 million facility that would house the core equipment needed to turn manure and other biomass material into energy, and start generating electricity for the town by July 2007.

The groundbreaking happened, and General Motors offered deals on flex fuel vehicles to people living in the Reynolds ZIP code. But there has been little other progress, and now BioTown leaders acknowledge they have adjusted their vision. But they insist the project will happen.

That's the problem with vision and wishful thinking. Reality sneaks up behind it and smacks the shit out of it, and then adds insult to injury, by closing the checkbook.

No anaerobic digester, to convert manure into electricity. No ethanol plant, construction suspended due to falling ethanol prices and high corn prices. Jim Adams, President of Energy Systems Group says they're still lining up investors for the $10MM it will take to build the digester.

I'm no Professor Science, but it occurs to me that renewable energy has a couple of requirements.

1. It must in fact be, renewable.

2. It cannot cost more (or much more) than traditional sources of energy.

Of course, there are vested interests.

Very. Vested. Interests.

FAQ: If a Racially-Charged Story Gets Posted, That Means I Can Start Making Racist Statements, Right?
— Ace

Um, no, as it turns out, actually.

To the, say, 5% of racists who have decided to perk up and start commenting now that there's some red-hot racially-charged news:

I'm going to be condescending here, because apparently some people need to be fucking condescended to:

The fact that a story might involve black people is not, in fact, an open invitation to start tossing out the words "nigger" or even "nigga."

Especially in phrases like "nigga-dark," which just got someone banned. Later, horseman.

I should have banned this asshole earlier. I think I've seen three comments of his and of the three two were right on the line of getting a ban.

Oddly enough horseman only seemed interested in stories about blacks.

Did you think you got in a really good burn, horseman? The only person you embarrassed was yourself. And me. By unfortunate association.

And everyone else here, all of us embarrassed that we somehow put it in your head that we were "on your team."

So, the next time some jackass gets it in his head Ace just winked at me and gave me the secret Whitey signal to really let loose, bear in mind there's a pretty good chance it will be your last comment here. So make it count.

Do you. Have any. Fucking. Idea. How embarrassing it is. To even have to write this post?

Stupid ignorant-ass fuckers.

And I don't mean that in the playful way I mean "morons."

Incidentally, if you're curious why some people get to make racially-edgy comments without criticism and you can't, here's a good rule of thumb: If it's extraordinarily important to you to write something like "nigga-dark," that's probably a pretty good indicator right there that you're precisely the person who shouldn't be writing that.

Find another blog, guys. This one's not for you. I'm "politically correct" and a "pussy who won't tell it like it is" whatever other words you want to use.

PS: Before I had clean-up the stinking pile of shit you left on my blog, "horseman," I was getting ready to do my big Obama round-up of the day, which would have been all sorts of fun for you.

Now I don't feel like it. So you just get this, dickweed.

I've avoided -- until our recent "open, candid dialog" about race made it unavaoidable -- just about every racially-tinged story there was. The amnesty fight, I guess, was another case where I stayed out of it until necessary.

Why? Because I knew from the early days of the blog you cannot have 1) open commenting and 2) a story with the slightest racial edge without, um, certain people (let's use cutesy euphemisms) flying out of the woodwork to announce, "Hey, I don't like darkies or spics either! Thank God someone finally had the balls to say so!"

Um, I didn't say that. And plenty of people have said it before me so honestly, you stupid fucks, you needn't get so orgasmically excited when you think someone is secretly giving you the "You're among pale friends" secret handshake.

Thanks to Conservative Belle for the banhammer graphic.

Sunday Bloody Sunday: Nuanced Protestors Dis-- Oh, You Already Know
— Ace

Wanted to post this earlier but Michelle's post contained a YouTube video which, shocker of shockers!, was no longer available. Great Gosh, those YouTube videos come down quickly when they prove embarrassing for the left, don't they?

They go down faster than "Kristen" Dupre at convention of gubernatorial midgets.

Hot Air has some video now.

Bail's been set for $25,000-30,000. I don't expect that to hold. Freedom of speech now encompasses a whole raft of lesser associated freedoms, such as the right to malicious mischief and right to trespass, so long as you're on the left.

But for now we can enjoy pretending these.... don't say it, don't say it... specimens will have a nice long contemplative stay in jail.

Love the creepy chanting in unison, guys. I'm as impressed by that as I was when I first heard it, coming from the Charlie Manson's Stepford Murderesses at the Helter Skelter trial.

Benefit to Global Warming? China's the First to Go
— Ace

"Who's on our side?"

-- "About six hundred million screamin' Chinamen."

"I thought there were a billion?"

-- "There were." (dumps coffee into fire with a steaming hiss)

And those six hundred million, one, um, "doctor" says, will then move to Africa, where they're already location-scouting for The Big Move.

Because this is all going down by... 2040.

But, ya know, we here? We "Global Warming Deniers?"

We're the crazy ones.

DaveP breaks out my current favorite put-down:

I find your views intriguing and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.

I'll break out my old favorite one:

You, Sir, are a goof.

"A Rent-Seekers' Ball: KS points out this article on coming Ecocalypse.

[W]hy are we bent on heading into the global warming bubble?

Just this week the Environmental Protection Agency issued its economic analysis of the Lieberman-Warner global warming bill that is being considered by the Senate. The EPA projects that if the bill is enacted the size of our economy as measured by its gross domestic product would shrink by as much as $2.9 trillion by the year 2050.

ThatÂ’s a 6.9 percent smaller economy than we otherwise might have if no action were taken to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. For an idea of what that might mean, consider our current economic crisis.

During the fourth quarter of 2007, GDP actually increased by 0.6 percent, yet trepidation still spread among businesses, consumers and the financial markets. Though the EPA says that Lieberman-Warner would send our economy in the opposite direction by more than a factor of 10, few in Congress seem concerned.

For more perspective, consider that during 1929 and 1930, the first two years of the Great Depression, GDP declined by 8.6 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively. And what would we get for such a massive self-inflicted wound? It ought to be something that is climatically spectacular, right? You be the judge.

The EPA says that by the year 2095 — 45 years after GDP has been slashed by 6.9 percent — atmospheric carbon dioxide levels would be 25 parts per million lower than if no greenhouse gas regulation were implemented.

Keeping in mind that the current atmospheric CO2 level is 380 ppm and the projected 2095 CO2 level is about 500 ppm, according to the EPA, what are the potential global temperature implications for such a slight change in atmospheric CO2 concentration?

Not much, as average global temperature would only be reduced by a maximum of about 0.10 to 0.20 degrees Celsius, according to existing research.

Plus, let that CO2 level rise from 380 ppm to, say, 430 by 2040 and we get to whack China.

I'm really not seeing the downside here, boys.

The Moronosphere?
— Ace

The 2007 Conservative Blog of the Year thing was nice. The CPAC/Advocacy Ink Blogger of the Year award was great.

This is really an honor, though. It's like my own army of retards. Which, seriously? I've been dreaming about since age three.

moronblogger.gif.png

I think the Bible said something about allowing oneself to be branded it with the symbol of Evil. I think it was "always allow yourself to be branded with the symbol of Evil." No, wait-- maybe it was "never." Well, either/or, I guess, I don't know. I don't have a copy handy and I don't think there's anyway of using the Internet to find out for certain.

DPUD has, I think, the first official round up of the stupid shit being written in "The Moronosphere."

Thanks guys. That's awesome. I'm really touched.

Fear of a Black Hat
— Ace

Debbie Schussel lays out what I had only guessed at from the MSM accounts of Kwame Kilpatrick's alleged involvement in the murder of a stripper. Actually, she says it's two strippers.

Is this what really happened? No idea. But this seems to be what people following this case suspect happened.

As I've written, this isn't just about lying under oath. It's about a party that took place at the Manoogian Mayoral Mansion, at which two strippers performed, and were later assassinated. It's about a cover-up of that party and the later drive-by shooting of one of those strippers, Tamara Greene a/k/a "Strawberry" by police bullets. It's about the Mayor's Ms. Thang wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, walking in on Strawberry en flagrante delicto with the Thuggish, Pan-Islamist Mayor (many of whose family members are in the Nation of Islam) and beating the stripper with a baseball bat, giving her a concussion (for which the stripper was rushed to the hospital), and the subsequent cover-up.

And, more importantly to me, it's about a corrupt, lying Republican Michigan Attorney General, Mike Cox, who claims to be a conservative, but is just another operator in the same Wayne County political machine as the liberal Democrat Detroit Mayor. Republican Attorney General, Cox, covered up the party, what happened there, and the resulting execution-style assassination of two strippers who performed there. And Cox stopped Michigan State Police at every turn as they tried to investigate--all while he called it "an urban legend that never happened" (which he knows is false).

Huh. That last bit about the Republican AG makes me doubt this a bit. Not because I think Republicans are innocent of corrupt motivations, Lord knows (and pardon me while I laugh myself silly over that), but just because it seems to me to be in this guy's personal and partisan interest to get Kilpatrick if there's anything to this.

It all is very suspicious, though.

And it doesn't help that he's photographed here wearing a stylish sloop-brimmed Assassin's Fedora from the Sears Jack Ruby Signature Collection.
