Rupert Murdoch: European Press Hostility to Israel Due Partly to Anti-Semitism
— Ace

Not exactly earth-shattering news, except to the extent someone dared to say it.

A “pretty strong degree of anti-Semitism” in Europe is at the root of the hostile coverage Israel receives in parts of the European media, media mogul Rupert Murdoch has charged[:] “If you go to the BBC, the French press, places like that — they start as hostile, and it’s very difficult to overcome. But you’ve just got to press on and do what you can.”

Nuance.

Thanks to CJ.

Obamassiah: Lay Off My Wife
— DrewM

Add Michelle Obama to the growing lists of things that are officially distractions from the all important business of bringing Hope And Change to America.

Remember the whole, “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country” business? Well the Tennessee GOP created a 4 minute video about it and He is not happy.

But I do want to say this to the GOP. If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful. Because that I find unacceptable," he said.

Obama praised his wife's patriotism and said that for Republicans "to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks in ways that are unflattering to her I think is just low class ... and especially for people who purport to be promoters of family values, who claim that they are protectors of the values and ideals and the decency of the American people to start attacking my wife in a political campaign I think is detestable.

In general I agree that families should be off limits (especially kids) or at least not held to the same standard as the candidate. Some family members donÂ’t get involved in the campaign and some who do arenÂ’t political pros who speak to issues but only talk about how much they love their wife or husband.

In this case however, Michelle Obama made the statement at a campaign rally while stumping for her husband. Obama has repeatedly said Michelle is a big part of his campaign. He and members of his campaign refer to her as ‘the closer’. If things she says at an official Obama event are beyond the pale we might as well proceed straight to the coronation.

Of course this is also a bigger issue than it might normally be given Obama’s other relationships with people like Reverend Jeremiah “Chickens Are Coming Home To Roost” Wright and Bill “I Wished We Bombed More” Ayers.

This is the video that Obama isnÂ’t happy about.

I am sure the MSM, having received their marching orders, will redouble their efforts to do as they are told and limit ‘distractions’ like the Republican party.

Porn Star Nina Hartley's Site Hacked by "Jihadist Cyber-Warriors"
— Ace

Mild Content Warning on this link, which goes to the porn site nina.com. The front page is just links plus a lengthy explanation of why the site went down and a rant against fundamentalists (and yes, of course they're considerate enough to include many of you in that rant), but it's still a porn site, so have caution.

As usual, those on the left -- here, the sexual left -- can only spend a bit of time criticizing jihadists before rushing headlong to criticize those they really hate, "right wing Christian fundamentalists." It really makes no goddamn sense. You've just been unlawfully harassed and cyber-attacked by Turkish jihadists, so of course you want to direct as much of your fire as possible towards people who didn't do anything to you, besides criticize you, which is also their right as Americans.

I find the left to be wearying and childish on this point. Their efforts to be even-handed against "all extremists" is not even-handed at all. They wind up classing those who haven't done anything particular untoward with those who are actually illegally attacking them... which merely spares the culpable parties their proper measure of blame by dividing the load among the blameless.

We on the right are pretty clear on the point that while the political left has many sins to account for, actually sawing off the heads of innocent civilians is not among them.

Why is it the supposed "reality based community" has such difficulties making such not-terribly-fine distinctions?

Thanks to someone.

I thought I told you to go before we left the airbase! (genghis)
— Open Blog

Here at the HQ, a very smart military blog, we try to keep you up to date with the latest in cutting-edge advancements regarding the arsenal of freedom, whether they be powered exoskeletons, airborne laser weapons or the gay bomb.

So in that spirit I'm pleased to present to you the Advanced Mission Extender Device (AMXD). So what's it all about you ask?

Where do fighter pilots traveling faster than the speed of sound go when they really need to "go"? Until recently, the answer has been: into a bag.

But it's not a great solution. "Piddle packs" -- heavy-duty bags containing absorbent sponges -- have been blamed for at least two crashes over the years, and they're not always tidy.

Under the old system, pilots routinely avoid liquids before taking off to prevent the unmentionable. But dehydration can make them more susceptible to the G-forces typically seen in fighter aircraft, Harvie said.

When nature's call becomes too pressing to ignore, a pilot has to fly and unbuckle the harness at the same time -- while using both hands to maneuver around in a seat to which he or she is virtually molded.

The aerobatic maneuver is even harder for female pilots.

IÂ’m guessing itÂ’s because women lack opposable thumbs, but I digress. So how has this problem been solved?
In the AMXD, a cup for a man and a pad for a woman is strategically placed before the pilot dons a flight suit.

Strategically placed? I suppose they couldÂ’ve put them on a wing pylon, butÂ…well, never mind. Sorry to interrupt.
An instructional DVD tells pilots: "When the time comes to urinate, unzip the flight suit, remove the hose.... The control unit will pump the urine from the cup to the collection bag, where it will be chemically gelled.
Pilots are free to think about other business. "

Damned non-multi-tasking slackers! Seems to me though that the resulting chemical gel could be put to better use and combined with other dangerous ordinance about to be dropped on soon-to-be enemy carcasses.

Smells like...

Considering the male version of the device is a pump, I wonder if DoD could've saved themselves $5 million and just responded to an e-mail spam for "male enhancement."

Minute 16: Tonya Harding Claims Goons Raped Her Into Silence
— Ace

She couldn't tell what she knew about the attack on Nancy Kerrigan, she says, because Jeff Gilloly and unseen thugs raped her at gunpoint into remaining silent.

After meeting with investigators, Harding claims, an abusive Gillooly and two other men brought her to a secluded mountain spot to frighten her into silence.

This is going to shock you really bad. When I got back [from the competition] before the [1994] Olympics . . . we ended up seeing the lawyers, and right before I went in to see the FBI people to tell them the truth of what I knew [about the attack on Kerrigan], at that point, him [Jeff] and two other guys - don't know who they were because I couldn't see who they were . . . they were in a different car - decided to drive me up into the mountains, put a gun to my head, and take themselves upon me.

Q: All three of them?

Yeah. He stood there and watched the other two men do it. And he decided to do it, too. They said, if I didn't cooperate and say exactly what he [Jeff] told me to say, they were going to take me out. I had a gun at the back of my head and [was raped] on the back of a truck of a car, and they told me, 'This is what you are going to say. This is what you are going to do, and if you don't, you're not going to be here anymore.' I was screaming , yelling, bleeding. I was totally bloody by the time I got home.

Q: What were you thinking?

"That I wished they had pulled the trigger . . . Why people don't understand why I didn't come forward [regarding the Kerrigan attack]. That's the reason I didn't come forward."

But she also claims to have not known anything worth intimidating her over:

It was like, two days later when things started breaking in the news, and the media or police, or whatever, was involved or whatever . . . somebody said Jeff was involved, and I was involved, and some body else, and I was like, 'Well, I'm not even involved. I don't even know what is going on here.'

So what point would there be to intimidating her into silence? She says she knew nothing at all. The only possibility is that Gillooly was relying on her to provide a false alibi, and intimidated her into reasserting it.

It's just absolutely bone-chillingly horrible if it's true, but it's, you know, not.

Hmm... I'm in trouble for assault and conspiracy. How do I get out of this? Oh, I know. I'll commit kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, more conspiracy, and rape.

Thanks to dri.
