Plus: Al Qaeda Now Using Codewords Lifted from... World of Warcraft and Dungeons & Dragons?!!?
— Ace Just like the controlled demolition of WTC 7.
But I'm sure that's just a coincidence.
Dell Dailey, the US State Department's co-ordinator for counter-terrorism, says the terrorist group's violent ways do not "resonate" with Muslims - especially with an increasing number falling victim to suicide attacks.Suicide blasts are reportedly killing more Muslims than non-Muslims, especially in Iraq, where support for the terror group is said to be diminishing.
"Absolutely it's imploding. It's imploding because it's not a message that resonates with a lot of Muslims," Mr Dailey said.
Terrorists groups like Hizbollah and Hamas are proving more attractive because they are involved in social services, according to under-secretary of state James Glassman.
Now for the weird stuff
Speaking at the Director of National Intelligence Open Source Conference in Washington, Dr Dwight Toavs provided an example of how a plot to blow up the White House could be planned within World Of Warcraft.Dr Toavs, who is a professor at the Pentagon-funded National Defence University, said the game's jargon could provide a disguise for such a plot.
For example, in a fictional scenario, terms such as "Dragon Fire spell" might indicate a particular weapon and "110 Gold and 234 Silver" may refer to how the online plan relates to real-life geography and targets.
Below-- the crack research team at AoSHQ has uncovered a new jihadist training film demonstrating the use of the new codephrases in a simulated attack.

— Ace The new numbers are out for the 7-9 states that Obama believes are in the Union but which no one else has thusfar noticed to exist.
Here are the numbers:New Pennsylvania: Obama up by six!
Old Mexico: Obama leading by four!
West Carolina: Obama ahead by two (within the margin of error).
Puerto Guam: Obama up big, 62-36 over McCain!
Oklabama: Obama up by eight!
Barryfornia: Obama has a commanding twelve-point lead!
And in the heartland state of East Jesus, Obama is up over McCain by five points!
Take that, McCain-Palin.
Thanks to sauropod.

— Ace Everyone seems agreed, mostly, that Obama deliberately interfered with the constitutional exercise of the president's treaty-negotiating power.

— Ace More Republicans eagerly sign up to slit their own throats -- and ours.
I'm working on getting all the contact information for these morons. (By "working on it," I mean I'm asking DPUD to do it.)
In the meantime, here's the number for the Republican Senatorial Committee. Mention you've donated due to Palin enthusiasm and/or intended to donate -- but now, the spigot is turned off tight.

Bear in mind, if they take no action, the moratorium expires completely at the end of either this month or next (forget).
They're not seeking any sort of "compromise" -- they are fighting to keep the moratorium in effect, in perpetuity, against the pubic's strong wishes.

— Ace Irreconcilable differences -- he wants to win, they want him to lose honorably, by which they mean "meekly."
Really great piece.
With a bit of a hopeful upside: I hope McCain is not too old a dog to learn new tricks. The liberals in the media are not and never were his "friends." He was always just a useful catspaw to them, with which they could claw at hated the Republican Party and George Bush.

— Ace Suposedly. But for political clips only.
Wow. Pretty sure they've merely transcribed each clip so that they have a text-list of words used. The cool thing would be if that were an automated transcription.

— Ace Not unambiguously good news -- Palin is obviously a more likable figure. Biden only stays close due to Palin's relative inexperience.
Just over half of voters view both of the vice presidential candidates at least somewhat favorably, although 35% rate their opinion of Palin as Very Favorable while only 23% feel that way about Biden. Twenty-eight percent (28%) have a very unfavorable opinion of the woman governor of Alaska versus 20% who say that about the longtime Delaware senator.Women continue to be more skeptical than men of the Republican vice presidential nominee, only the second woman to be on a national political ticket. While men split 50% to 37% in PalinÂ’s favor, women support Biden 50% to 44%.
When Palin is pitted against Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee wins 50% to 43%.
In the same survey, PalinÂ’s running mate, John McCain, beats Biden 49% to 45%.
Obama beats Palin? Yeah, I guess we couldn't expect her to beat him. Yet.

Bad News? In New Jersey
— Ace No, this isn't a repost. Last time I posted this headline it concerned a Marist poll.
Now it's a Qunnipiac poll with the exact same result (and two other polls also show NJ to be a dogfight).
Powerline: "this can't be what Obama had in mind when he envisioned a 50 state race."
In fairness, he envisioned a 57-59 state race, but no one is polling those last 7-9 states. Because the media is against him.
And in New York: Old news by now, but New York is in play.
As a Concerned Christian Conservative with ties to both NY and NJ, I am appalled of the "racist code words" John McCain is using in this race, like "experience" and "leadership."

— Gabriel Malor Brad DeLong and his wife have a piece in the Wall Street Journal today, "Why Obama's Health Plan is Better". It would more properly be titled "We Took the Healthcare Issues Page from Obama's Website and Condensed it Into an Op-Ed". It is misleading. It is incomplete. And, in fact, Obama's health plan is a disaster of liberal wishes strewn about with little regard for cost or consistency.
Big surprise. The three authors are Brad DeLong, still smarting from his involvement with the crashed-and-burned HillaryCare attempt; Ann Marie Marciarille, his wife; and David Cutler, an adviser to Obama's campaign.
Let's take a look. more...
