Top Story
- A power outage halted production at TSMC's Fab14A on Wednesday. (Tom's Hardware)
This is an older plant working on nodes from 40nm to 90m, mostly for the automotive industry - parts that are already in desperately short supply. Since a power outage is likely to ruin many of the wafers in production at the time - and wafers take weeks to complete - this is not going to help things.
Apparently the outage was caused by construction workers (when you invest $100 billion in new factories you're going to have some construction) cutting through an underground power cable. Given how much electricity these factories use, this must have been exciting for those on the ground.

- Our datacenter, which suffered a fire and a flood during a recent power outage, had another power outage this week. Since they're still restoring their UPS and backup power systems from the previous disaster, that meant that 75% of the servers we have with them at my day job went off line.

I have not been having a fun couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, there's enough space for three, maybe four games. And even though there is an expansion slot right there waiting for you to add more storage, you can't. It doesn't work.
What you can now do is transfer your data to a USB drive, and then load it back onto the internal storage when you want to actually play a game, because you can't play games from external storage. That's probably faster than downloading it again, at least.

Reine of Hololive Indonesia recently got her hands on a Ryzen 5900X CPU - not the top of the line, but the hardest model to find because it offers the best tradeoff between price and performance - and promised to show it off in an upcoming stream.
Which she did.
By filling a bowl with 12.3kg of raisins in Cooking Simulator.
On her old PC she only managed to get to 3.2kg, after which the game became unplayable and the raisins all ended up on the floor. This time she got a lot further, but though the CPU could cope with it - albeit at a pace measured in seconds per frame - the game could not.
And that's the stream, basically. Three hours of chit-chat while waiting for a computer to crash.
She could be doing my job.

While you can't play PS5 games off of the external drive, you can play PS4 games from it; which does help me out quite a bit. Man, my arms and legs are so sore, i can't sleep. It's been like this for several weeks. After a few hours of misery, i can sleep. Nap during the day ok, but my muscles are stiff when i wake. Heat helps. No pain meds of any kind. Been off weed for 17 days. Ugh

Indeed, people back home that I know who have legacy injuries that use CBD oil "that just relaxes me" have deep withdrawal issues if they do not use.
I made the decision about 18 years back to reduce the amount of painkillers and even simple aspirin I use.....the rush of pain was hard to endure but learning to cope with it made me healthier long-term I think.

Sven - I hear you. I really don't like to take anything stronger than aspirin, and I avoid painkillers like the plague. When my back or knee goes out, a short regimen of steroids and advil, accompanied by heat and stretching usually knocks it out. Stenosis and arthritis are the real problems though.

You know I've mentioned this before, but anyone with back pain or joint pain - stenosis, I know of this personally, and it is debilitating, lose the fat! Maybe you're svelte with Adonis like figure ... though maybe not? I dunno. If it applies though ... Trust me, it helps. I lost 60 pounds and it really knocks it down. I have a portable generator that weighs 50 pounds w/gas and oil. When I pick that thing up to move it anywhere I cannot BELIEVE I was carrying around that much fat. It doesn't seem possible. Has to play hell on ankles and knee joints as well.

Another fun day here in FLA
At 1 AM today, one of the door alarms that leads out to the pool released itself from its double sided tape. Hit the window and then the freaking 180 db sounds started up.
Ignoring the signs about not tampering with them, I found the battery and took it out. I should have thrown it in the pool.

In the nearby college town, that happens less.

Using Win10/Firefox, each return just adds another space between sentences. But if I use a full quote like this one above, line feed
works.

I got up extra early to send a message to a support person a half-day ahead of me. The reset password email is not arriving in my account. I suspect it's being stopped before it reaches the spam-sorting stage.
Asking my in-house helpdesk is pointless. Two weeks ago, I had a job ticket approved... from 2018. It was to unblock a page; the site was a Catholic school. Funny thing is that the blocker used to give the reason; e.g. religion. Now it just pretends it can't load the site.
Yes, "now." I checked the link from the job ticket. It's still blocked. But at least someone may do the difficult work of designation.

This lady apparently has a movement to have people stop wearing masks
at hashtag #forgetyourmask, Her name is Jennifer Cabrera. She is interviewed by Jamie Glazov, whose program is linked at "FrontPage". It's a 20 minute thing, but one could listen to 4;16-6:06 She's done a lot of research. Cloth and paper masks don't work and are actually harmful. She encourages people to not wear their masks, and then rather than get into a confrontation, if people are belligerent in stores to say, "Sorry; I forgot." which is a baby step of not wearing a mask at all.

My first thought was bear. I have spotted her tracks a few times but never the bear her self. Last year she had cubs and spotted those tracks too.
It turned out however the dog was growling at a tall traffic cone with a blinker that NCTD put up to mark a section of road the swamp wants to take back. After laughing at the doggo I dragged her around a soybean field very much relieved.

For some reason, Abortion is one of the issues which Leftist women hold closest to their heart.

ISTR a story about a bank error a few years back in regards to a paper check or bank draft (remember those?) It was in the 7 figures. This guy immediately took the check and put it in a safe deposit box, and then tried to get cute. Can't remember how it turned out. Something along the lines of "No you don't get to keep it." pretty sure.

I once made an online payment to Chase for $19000 instead of $190.00 on an account with a $500 limit. You bet they drafted that from my account. And when it bounced, they charged me a $35 fee, raised my interest to 27%, then tried the draft again, and charged $35, then again and charged $35, and again and charged $35, until I started getting overdraft notices from my bank and $50 charges from them for each. So, yeah. If chase gave me $1 million, I would keep it. Sue me.

Another recommendation for Christians for a very short and helpful Biblically based book: -only about 120 pages-"What the Bible says about Managing Stress" by Criswell Freeman who apparently is or was a Director of Clinical Psychology in Nashville. Chapters include "Managing Stress in Tough Times", "Gratitude Reduces Stress" and "Genuine Worship Reduces Stress." Book is available from Choice Books of Manheim PA

Humble Bundle is a website where you donate to various charities in return for bundles of software, games, ebooks, e-comics, etc..
Last week they quietly changed their policy on how you choose to do your donation. In the past, you could vary the fraction you designate to go to the charity, humble bundle, and the company providing the giveaway. All via a series of GUI sliders or by typing in the portion beside the sliders. Well, people started noticing the sliders were missing from the donation frame when they went to pay. Not everyone, just some. People did some tests and mostly determined that if you've adjusted the amount from the defaults they push it's likely they will remove your ability to ever adjust in the future.
This is strange because that was their only real advantage over other sites, that ability to control your donation. People are blaming it on HB's takeover by IGN with IGN wanting a bigger take of the donation profits with so many out of work and getting paid to stay at home high playing games. I never reduced HB's portion. I actually zeroed out some of the "charity" orgs because they were vile racist organizations that are actively destroying my country or giving a huge portion to abortion. So when I had the opportunity to research a charity I'd determine if they should or shouldn't get money and would adjust the sliders to default/nothing for the charity but never reduced HB/IGN portion.
I guess I saw this coming last year when they had a big multi-company giveaway to support burn loot murder and other pro race-war organizations but took away the slider to prevent you from not funding your genocide. But with this, HB is pretty much dead to me.
