Of Course: Obama Postpones Forced Dropping of Insurance Policies Until October 2016
— Ace

And if you think he's not going to figure out that, hey, October 2016 is just before an important election and then delay it until May 2017, then let Rob Halford disabuse you of that mistaken belief.

Now, not only is Obama saying that these legacy plans can remain, but heÂ’s saying they can stay alive for three years longer than intended. If they can be extended for three years, the new rules may never fully go into effect (unless Obama will allow a wave of cancellations in October 2016, just before the presidential election). And maintaining these plans will further drive up the cost of insurance on the exchanges.

Remember, Obama deliberately canceled these policies in order to force them to subsidize sicker people in the exchanges. To the extent these people aren't in the exchanges, the cost for insurance on the exchanges goes up -- or, of course, Obama pays off the insurance companies through the "risk corridor" mechanism to induce insurers to set their prices artificially low.

Allah concludes:

Quite simply, Obama was forced to choose between doing something that would help his party at the ballot box but hurt his signature health-care law and doing something that would help stabilize the law financially at the risk of generating a nasty backlash to his party from consumers with cancellations. He made the political choice. Which is exactly what OÂ’s critics feared would happen as government insinuated itself further into the health-care industry via O-Care. Decisions on health-care policy are now a species of politics. YouÂ’re welcome, America.

61

OK, so my old policy (way too expensive already, but that's because health "insurance" has had only a small component of actual insurance for a long time - the rest is cost-shifting, subsidies, and of course the built-in excess costs of the cartelization by state and the federal tax code distortion and the long process of disconnecting prices from consumers) was cancelled months ago.  I'm on temporary (the kind you get between jobs) until June.  CA will not permit "old" policies to be revived - academic since the tiny number of companies operating here would have no interest in doing so.

But this is not about me, and it never is.  In this case, it's actually about the deadly serious and concrete issue of rule of law in the US.

We've had lawlessness from above for years from the judiciary.  In the area of immigration we've had federal lawlessness for years.  But the administrative lawlessness now running amok in the Beltway is on a whole different level.

75 More than one million U.S. schoolchildren stopped buying school lunches during the 2012-2013 academic year, after new nutrition standards championed by first lady Michelle Obama took effect.

The Government Accountability Office, a watchdog agency inside the federal government, told members of Congress in a little-noticed January 28 report that participation in the school lunch program declined by 1,086,000 in that one year, the biggest drop on record.

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 directed the U.S. Department of Agriculture to revise its school lunch standards to bring them in line with a new set of nutrition requirements.

Use their own words to hoist them up on their petard.  File suit based on their own projections and promises.  It should be easy to show standing based on their proclamations and then the results, shouldn't it?

108

So taking current political tribes, labels, and animosities out of it, purely as a serious American legal and constitutional question:  what do people really think of this lawlessness?

Why would any future GOP president feel bound to uphold and execute the laws faithfully, when, apparently, that doesn't neccessarily include, you know, actually upholding and executing them faithfully?

And to those rubes who, you know, actually do believe in and comply with a culture of the rule of law, who are assaulted by a tsunami of lawlessness on immigration, and now in execution of a disastrous onerous and unworkable national policy - why would you feel the slightest motivation to ever again be law-abiding, if you could benefit by doing otherwise?

Twenty-seven Democrats on Wednesday sided with House Republicans on a bill to delay tax penalties for failing to buy health insurance this year under ObamaCare.

Most of the 27 Democrats voting for the bill are seen as vulnerable in the November elections, and one of them, Rep. Gary Peters (Mich.), is running for the Senate this year.

The bill is not expected to be taken up in the Senate.

So, the only -- ONLY -- effect of the bill will be to give vulnerable Democrats a sound-bite for their re-election ads.

231 This afternoon, I went out to my car for a smoke break. Usually I listen to talk radio, but in the afternoon my choices are Michael Medved and Dick Morris, and I wasn't in the mood for either of them. (Does anybody know whether Morris is syndicated, or is he local to the Philly area? Sometimes he makes local references that lead me to believe he actually lives around here now. Anyway, I can't stand his voice. He sounds like Elmer Fudd. I can remember when radio announcers had to have good speaking voices. But I digress.) So I searched at random around the dial, and found a music station that played this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ9Nm_c3GVY That is awesome. They didn't say who it was, but I found it in a matter of minutes on YouTube. I correctly guessed that it was from 1965.

LDC, nice item and comment there.

But I've read right here in these pages repeal is the first item in all the GOP alternatives.  (for some reason there's always a list of other things they will do that in some way echo O-care, mysteriously, and especially so since the things they list are stupid and not popular, contrary to their bald assertions)

So looks like I am in a pampered class myself.  My cancelled individual policy (actually two - Aetna quit CA altogether and the one I replaced them with) can be revived.  But they can't, and won't be.  And the tax penalty I face for not having a Soviet-blessed policy will be delayed or waived.  But it won't be.  Never thought I would see, in the very details of my own personal life, such orwellian nonsense and damage.  Not in the US.

So, my old policy was just over $300/mo. for me and the wife.  The closest replacement policy available under Soviet Healthcare - and it was substantially worse, in terms of deductible (and major health care groups in a large CA county couldn't even say if they were participating .... in January!) would be ...... wait for it .... $878/mo.  Nearly tripling the previous cost, for less.

From a very annoying, over-priced, state-and-cartel-ruined monster of cost-shifting and welfare masquerading as "insurance" to a mortgage payment - for bare-bones catastrophic.

And not a single person I know tries to even understand this, or thinks it's a big deal (none of them yet affected by O-care).

240 A non-disclosure agreement that police departments around the country have been signing for years with the maker of a cell-phone spy tool explicitly prohibits the law enforcement agencies from telling anyone, including other government bodies, about their use of the secretive equipment, according to one of the agreements obtained by an Arizona journalist.

The NDA includes an exception for “judicially mandated disclosures,” but no mechanisms for judges to learn that the equipment was used. In at least one case in Florida, a police department revealed that it had decided not to seek a warrant to use the technology explicitly to avoid telling a judge about the equipment. It subsequently kept the information hidden from the defendant as well.

A copy of the contract was obtained from a police department in Tucson, Arizona, which signed the agreement in 2010 with the Harris Corporation, a Florida-based maker of the equipment used by the department. The police department cited the agreement as one of the reasons it withheld information from a journalist who filed a public records request seeking information about the departmentÂ’s use of the equipment.

“[The Tucson Police Department] and the City of Tucson have allowed Harris Corporation to dictate the City of Tucson’s and TPD’s compliance with Arizona public records law in regards to products and services purchased from Harris Corporation,” notes the ACLU of Arizona in a lawsuit demanding that the police department comply (.pdf) with the journalist’s records request.

253 O/T did you see this? Over at Real Clear Politics has video of Obama talking to students and telling them to "bend your knees so you don't faint":

http://tinyurl.com/mf67qlr

'"By the way, I just noticed, if you've got chairs, feel free to sit down," President Obama said to a student audience in New Britain, Connecticut on Wednesday.

"I know the folks here don't have chairs," Obama said, pointing to the audience members in the front row.

"And if you're standing up, make sure to bend your knees so you don't faint," Obama instructed.'

Now, since people don't faint from mere standing around, he obviously think people are STILL going to faint at his awesomeness!

293 If Laws are flowing willy nilly to whatever govt decides from one day to the next, How will it affect people in general in being good citizens trying to follow them and will citizens start becoming angry at the in your face inconsistencies between their governing on whims and our following on demand? I'm pretty sure folks will just ignore them, as Insty has been pointing out recently in his "Irish Democracy" posts. These days, the old argument of, "Ignorance of the law is no excuse not to follow it" has pretty much been thrown out the window due to the sheer volume of laws on the books. How in hell can anyone keep up with them? I'm past the point of caring anymore, and, curiously, all out of shits to give. This government hasn't had my consent for many years, and unless they start repealing laws starting with OCare, they won't get it. I'm lucky in a way, since I'm old and won't be around much longer. If I can keep my head down, I should survive, which, sadly, is the best I can hope for anymore.

302 "Remember, Obama deliberately canceled these policies in order to force them to subsidize sicker people in the exchanges. To the extent these people aren't in the exchanges, the cost for insurance on the exchanges goes up " So the people already forced off their old insurance and onto the exchange plans are going to get screwed. I truly hate this bastard. Big government sucks. It really does.

303 1. Ace, you do not suck. Feel better.

2. On watching the video, again, of Issa shutting of mike, a guy appears and stands behind him. He started out to his left, stood near him, Issa made eye contact and then left. The guy then went and sat down to Cumming's right. I am hoping he was security for the House chamber. I guess we will never know, and maybe he was there to protect Issa from Cummings in case a fisticuff broke out.

3. This is all orchestrated to save butts for Dems. So obvious. Are the Republicans really fighting will all they can? Is this just show-pony crap? I guess we will see when/if Issa charges Miss Fisk Fifth with contempt. I hope Rep Gowdy holds firm as well as Rep Jordan.

4. Are the Republicans being beaten at all fronts: Benghazi, etc. by this corrupt bunch of thugs making us a banana republic (raciss, Christy! Bananas is forbidden along with "terrorism" and other bad words!).

5. I saw that a bunch of terrorist-wanna-bees were stopped by the Mexican government from Guatamala, trying to get into US. Isn't that great news? This totally pisses me off. Totally. I may be writing Marco again and mailing him this news. Then! Watching NCIS-LA, as that is where I learn all of my self-defense along with Justified, they caught a bad dude pretending to be Hispanic but, gasp, in reality he was Mooslem. Peoples, since BEFORE 9/11 this has been going on, with ranchers in Arizona finding prayer rugs and Korans on their ranches in addtion to other trash mules left.  A writer, J. Zane Walley wrote the warnings of Arab terrorists crossing border in WND on 10/19/01 (Arab Terrorists Crossing Border). I totally encourage you all to read what he wrote about the problems ranchers had and have with illegals trashing their land as they trespass illegally into our country. Michelle Malkin sounded the alarm back then as well...and here we are! Walley wrote many articles of warning and/or the issue of government and ranch land issues. He had a stroke in 2003 and I have not been able to find anything recent on him. He was a powerful voice that went ignored on illegal immigration. As President Reagan once said, we ignore protecting our sovereignty and securing our borders at our own peril.

Here is the recent story on Mexico capturing illegals (from WZ, you won't see it in MSM). Keeping in mind in 2010, after Mexico also caught Somalians trying to get into USA, there was a warning...yet Congress and this preznit want to keep borders open and make them citizens:

I have 1 daughter, but she's an idiot (our family has never been very sentimental: if you're a moron, we kinda just leave you to die), so I can't get too concerned about the future from a personal perspective. Had about 10 years of trying to get involved in local politics to "make a difference." Then I found myself in the desert with a shovel digging holes I might need and thought: "Self, this isn't working as planned," and gave up on it. So I'll live out my days in quiet solitude with my wife, eat pancakes and spend time with my parrots. God can yell at me for not being proactive once I'm dead.

Even more depressing is that we're tolerating our demise. One can only wonder how different things today would be if those who saw our enemies coming back in the '50's and '60's had confronted them head-on.

It's not like we weren't warned.

This.

I know, intellectually, that I have to accept that the current PoS in the White House, dirt bag traitor that he is, can do whatever he damn well pleases.  But it still chafes.  I am maddened by the fact that nobody with any say-so is standing up and pointing out the simple fact that this is all illegal as shit, and the State is now entirely illegitimate.  The elections are rigged without penalty for the riggers.  The laws are ignored by those in charge of enforcing them.  Horrible, system-destroying new laws are passed via "deeming."  The legislature has ceded the right to make law to the executive in the form of "regulations" which are used to destroy the economy.  The monstrous vermin at the IRS are used to victimize the regime's rivals.  Rampant criminality among those at the top is out in the open and tolerated, again without any resistance.

If you think "the camps" are beyond the pale now, you're kidding yourself.

This is a third world country, but worse than many because the f--king do-gooders are running the joint.  The only reason to hang out here is to squeeze out enough money to leave and retire in comfort elsewhere.  Any hard working, decent person to brings kids into the world living in this lawless nation of sub-morons is doing them, and himself, a grave disservice.  I used to say things like "What is this, Russia?!" when stupid shit happened - now I envy the damn Russians for their low taxes and relative freedom.

Plenty of blame to go around on that one.  After 9-11 people should have had the sense to wake up and realize the muz are a contamination that should be removed from the nation.  Instead we coddled them, and spent more time fretting over non-existent harassment of muslims than trying to prevent them from doing what their religion teaches them to do to us.  Only their profound incompetence has prevented a wave ongoing horrific attacks.  Thank Heaven most of them are so inbred...

That's what I'm getting at - the Constitution is now a dead letter.  If it can be ignored at will, and no one rises up to impede that trespass, then it is dead.  It was wounded a long time ago, but up until the Bush years it was still the law of the land and, on the whole, treated as actual law.  Now it's just a collection of quaint suggestions.  And everybody in the political class who matters seems to be fine with that.

Short of breaking down my door and taking my goods at gunpoint, what violations still remain undone?  Freedom of speech - hello IRS man.  Free exercise of religion - tolerated as long as you don't impede the march of hedonistic Leftist dogma with word or deed.  Free press - soon to be fixed by FCC monitors.  Free assembly - sure, unless BO wants to shut down your public venue and actually INVENT ways to close it to you which did not exist before.  Privacy - except for my emails and phone calls and conversations within earshot of anything that can record sound.  The only time "privacy" is respected is when that serves the more important ritual of infanticide.  No taxation without representation - elections are now rigged and massive new taxes are "deemed" or regulated into existence.  Freedom of association - unless you own a business and want to hire somebody - then you have a series of de facto quotas, and you have to provide your product/service for whatever protected class the state invents regardless of your moral views.  The public ed system is used to rob you of your children by turning them against everything you value, so even the product of your procreation is now effectively the property of the State.  They tax every penny you earn everywhere in the world you earn it, sometimes twice.  Admittedly we're seeing some success in the 2nd Amendment area, but our buddies in Homeland are working up scenarios to address that "problem" and buying up the supplies needed to do what must be done.  It just goes on and on...

528 This should end well. (Plainfield, IN 2/25/14) On Wednesday, February 19, 2014 the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)’s Chaplain Services Department (ICSD) received news that two former applicants for active duty Chaplaincy were both selected to serve on active duty in the U.S. Army and Air Force. The significance of this news is that the Department of Defense (Army, Air Force, and Navy) has not selected an ISNA endorsed chaplain for active duty in over 15 years. The two Chaplain Candidates are: SGT Mustapha Rahouchen, an enlisted Soldier currently assigned to Fort Gordon, GA and Chaplain (CPT) Rafael Lantiqua, who was recently assigned as an active National Guard Chaplain in Austin, TX however, he recently lost his position due to his unit’s personnel drawdown and recently expressed some concern finding another Chaplain position. “After speaking by phone with both Soldiers, it was more than clear both were eager and ready to serve Allah and Country,” says ISNA Chaplain Services Director/Islamic Endorsing Agent Abdul-Rasheed Muhammad. “May Allah bless our new Chaplain Candidates and their families as they prepare for new challenges and opportunities in the Army and Air Force Chaplain Corps.”

582 I feel repeatedly pooped upon by the ACA. My insurance company was proactive in responding to the new law. They moved us over to a more expensive policy before it was mandated. My employer cut our hours 20% a year before it was mandated. Some of my favorite local businesses had to close because they couldn't afford to comply. It has introduced tension in the family, between us and the relatives who think we should appreciate how much Obama cares for people like us. Arrrgh.

I still like Perry teh best of all of them.  I think he might still have some game.  And, for me, he has the perfect skillset to be POTUS -- not so smart he thinks he's smarter than everybody else, absolutely down to earth and could charm a rattler off a rock, and has a good good good heart.  I might even send him some money if he goes for it, something I swore I would never do again.
