WaPo's Ruth Marcus: Obama admin "dumb", "weak", "small", "childish", "petty", "Nixonian"
— Purple Avenger

Looks like someone has noticed that the Obamunist's attacks on Fox News aren't exactly ummm...presidential grade behavior, resembling more the temper tantrums of 3 year olds.

If a reliable liberal like Marcus isn't going to buy in and drink the KoolAid, one wonders what the hell the White house is thinking with this current campaign to shun Fox. They're playing to the 20% dead-ender Obama zombies, and the middle (already fleeing Obama in droves) is sitting there wondering WTF? Are they on drugs?

Palin Endorses Hoffman
— DrewM

flaming_skull2a.gif

She goes rogue on her Facebook page.

The people of the 23rd Congressional District of New York are ready to shake things up, and Doug Hoffman is coming on strong as Election Day approaches! He needs our help now.

The votes of every member of Congress affect every American, so it's important for all of us to pay attention to this important Congressional campaign in upstate New York. I am very pleased to announce my support for Doug Hoffman in his fight to be the next Representative from New York's 23rd Congressional district. It's my honor to endorse Doug and to do what I can to help him win, including having my political action committee, SarahPAC, donate to his campaign the maximum contribution allowed by law.

Our nation is at a crossroads, and this is once again a "time for choosing."

The federal government borrows, spends, and prints too much money, while our national debt hits a record high. Government is growing while the private sector is shrinking, and unemployment is on the rise. Doug Hoffman is committed to ending the reckless spending in Washington, D.C. and the massive increase in the size and scope of the federal government. He is also fully committed to supporting our men and women in uniform as they seek to honorably complete their missions overseas.

And best of all, Doug Hoffman has not been anointed by any political machine.

Doug Hoffman stands for the principles that all Republicans should share: smaller government, lower taxes, strong national defense, and a commitment to individual liberty.

Political parties must stand for something. When Republicans were in the wilderness in the late 1970s, Ronald Reagan knew that the doctrine of "blurring the lines" between parties was not an appropriate way to win elections. Unfortunately, the Republican Party today has decided to choose a candidate who more than blurs the lines, and there is no real difference between the Democrat and the Republican in this race. This is why Doug Hoffman is running on the Conservative Party's ticket.

Republicans and conservatives around the country are sending an important message to the Republican establishment in their outstanding grassroots support for Doug Hoffman: no more politics as usual.

You can help Doug by visiting his official website below and joining me in supporting his campaign:

- Sarah Palin

Breaks with the party? Check.

Invokes Reagan? Check.

Fires up the base? Check and mate.

Thanks to enoxo and Al in the comments.

Added: Having thought about this for a bit, it's a free roll for her.

She won't get blamed if Hoffman gets beat, everyone expects him to anyway. Yet she still banks a lot of good will from grassroots types for her willingness to stand up to the go along, get along types.

But if Hoffman wins.....

UPDATE [DiT]: Hoffman raises $210,000 in the past seven days. That's before Palin's endorsement tonight.

Hoffman's startling success in raising cash on the web suggests -- as has been made clear in tea party protests and town halls over the spring and summer -- that the conservative base of the Republican party is energized and voting with their feet and their wallets (and often against the picks of the party establishment).

Allow me to mangle General Omar Bradley's famous quote: "It's the right war, at the right place, at the right time, with the right enemy."

Thugocracy...Obama White House Trys To Exlude Fox From Pay Czar Interviews
— DrewM

While Obama is busy feeding his lap dogs their talking points, his press operation is trying to exclude a news organization that isn't drinking the Kool Aid.

I can't find anything online yet (video now below the fold) but Fox is reporting on Special Report that the White House wanted to exclude Fox from the 5 member White House Pool who were going to be given access to Kenneth Feinberg.

The White House Pool, of which Fox has been a member since 1997, is a consortium of the five networks which fund its operations.

After the White House attempted to exclude Fox, the Washington bureau chiefs of the 5 networks met and announced none of them would participate if Fox were excluded.

It's amazing we are in the position we are. We have a President who is more interested in talking to murders around the world but is affraid to face a reporter who isn't enthralled with the crease of his pants.

Wonderful.

Below the fold is the FNC report. more...

NJ Democratic Boss With Ties To Governor Corzine Convicted On Corruption Charges
— DrewM

Nothing like having a crony convicted in federal court less than two weeks before election day.

>Prosecutors had argued that (Joseph) Ferriero and Dennis Oury, who was borough attorney for Bergenfield, had conspired to defraud the town by hiding their co-ownership of a consulting business. The consulting firm had sought contracts from towns in the county.

Ferriero was head of the county's Democratic organization from 1998 to 2008; Oury was borough attorney for Bergenfield.

Jim Geraghty reports
that over the years Corzine has given contributions to Ferriero of close to half a million dollars.

Chis Christie, the Republican challenger and former US Attorney jumped all over this.

"He was enabled for large portion of what he did by Jon Corzine and his bankroll. He bears some responsibility. His own running mate [Lieutenant Gubernatorial candidate Loretta Weinberg] accused Joe Ferrerio of being a political boss standing in the way of reform. But continued for his own selfish political purposes. I'm not saying governor had knowledge of him being a criminal - at least, I presume that's the case — but his money enabled Joe Ferrio to be a dictator up there - he ruled over not just the Bergen County Democratic Organization, but the Bergen County government. He should have listened to Loretta Weinberg years ago and closed his checkbook to Ferriero."

I imagine Corzine's response will be along the lines of, "Ferriero? Never heard of him. Look over there...a unicorn!"

If you are a Jersey moron, you have my condolences but more importantly you can help get out the vote to defeat this Obama supported SOB.

Christie had a big lead at one point but it's basically a dead heat at the moment.

Thanks to 'someone' and tmi3rd for the nudge on the GOTV link.

Nancy Pelosi, Splitting Atoms... With Her Mind
— Ace

This is amusing.

Look, we know she doesn't want to call a tax hike a tax hike. We can chalk that up to dishonesty rather than stupidity.

But if someone is this unconvincing in their dishonesty -- this unable to formulate a better line of horseshit -- then that's just stupidity a work.

Liars don't have to be stupid. In fact, it's really better that they be kinda smart.

There's just no excuse for this kind of retardedness. Except a doctor's note saying she's actually retarded.

Where are the NATO Troops Mr. International Promised Us?
— Ace

Good question. When does Obama's alleged charm begin translating into tangible benefits for America?

If what the White House and Obama supporters have been saying for two years is true, the weighty decision on Afghanistan's troop strength is one that Obama shouldn't have to make. From airy speeches in Berlin, to campaign rallies boasting that The One would renew "tattered" alliances abroad, to smug lectures about President Bush's disrespectful treatment of our international friends and allies, President Obama was supposed to be the great uniter of the grand Western alliance, NATO's savior.

So far, he's saved nothing. President Obama has failed to turn any of his charm and charisma into meaningful support in Afghanistan. Where's the European surge? Where's the flood of NATO troops, inspired by Obama's lofty rhetoric, gushing into the Helmand? General McChrystal needs 48k more soldiers because he needs to hold territory and protect Afghani villages. Why hasn't he been able to supplant McChrystal's request with a sizable international force? Wasn't that the point of electing a President whose greatest strength was his popularity abroad?

The world probably does like us better. And that translates to.... Jack and Squat.

Everything about Obama is this childish belief in "liking." If Iran's mullahs "like" us more, they will renounce a 20 year national/religious ambition to get an a-bomb.

If Obama's going to conduct middle-school diplomacy, perhaps he should learn what most people do before eighth grade: There is a difference between liking someone and like-liking someone.

Pelosi...We Have The Votes For Health Care. House Democratic Whip: Um, No You Don't
— DrewM

The important thing is that people who have no idea what they are doing are in charge of rearranging ~15% of the US Economy.

Pelosi yesterday.

"We have had, I have said for months, we will have a public option in our legislation," she said. "And we have the votes to do that. And we always have."

"The question now is what form will it take?" the speaker added.

The claim comes as the Huffington Post reported Wednesday that Democrats are eight votes shy of being able to pass a bill including the public option, with Pelosi having given House Democrats until this evening to declare how they currently stand on the bill.

The chief Democratic vote counter last night.

Clyburn professed optimism, but said Democrats hadn't yet achieved a majority for health reform legislation in the House.

"I think we`re very close. We`re getting there," he said during an appearance on MSNBC Wednesday evening. "We`re not there yet, but we`re getting there. I feel pretty good about this."

How excited do you think House Democrats are to vote for a public option that will bust the budget and likely die in the Senate? Sure there are some hard core liberals (maybe even 100) but that's not enough to pass something, just kill it.

Meanwhile, swing Democrats just saw the "Doctor's Fix" die yesterday. They know who killed it and that it wasn't the evilllll Republicans. How confident are they that Senate Democrats are going to sign up for a "Charge of the Light Brigade" run at the government option, public opinion be damned?

Clearly, the only people to blame for the Democrats not being able to get their act together are the Republicans. And Bush.

Obama Administration: The "Stimulus" Is Done. That's It, No More
— DrewM

Awesome!

A top White House economist says spending from the $787 billion economic stimulus has already had its biggest impact on economic growth and will likely not contribute to significant expansion next year.

Christina Romer, the chair of President Barack Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, said Thursday that the $194 billion already spent gave a jolt to the economy that contributed to growth in the second and third quarters of the year. She told a congressional panel that by the middle of next year, the impact of the stimulus will level off. Romer said spending so far has saved or created 600,000 to 1.5 million jobs but warned that unemployment will remain high, above 9.5 percent, through the end of 2010.

Let's take a look at the results vs. predictions via Geoff.

stimfunploymentsep.jpg

Well, that was money well spent.

Someone should get Obama a shirt that says, "I Spent 787 BILLION Dollars and All I Got Was a T-Shirt and 9.8% Funemployment"

Scozzafava: Withdraw Now
— Dave in Texas

You're going to see a lot of this today. The Republican Party needs to push this liberal goof out of the way and support Doug Hoffman as the Republican candidate.

Agreed. Scozzafava needs to step aside, and I urge her backers to throw their support behind Hoffman.

Teh Fred, lists her absurd positions that are entirely out of sync with conservative values and normal Republican policy positions. For crying out loud, a huge chunk of her most recent donations came from abortion rights groups, labor unions and the NEA .

Card check? WTF? Oh wait, her husband, Ron McDougall, is president of the Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Central Trades and Labor Council and a member of the UAW.

The same clown who called the cops when his wife the candidate refused to answer questions from felt "threatened" by Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack.

In a ridiculous press conf yesterday outside Hoffman's HQ (anybody see that?), Scozzafava declared that Hoffman was unwilling to debate her, which is an outright lie. Hoffman offered in August and even offered to pick up the costs. But he wasn't a threat then and she refused. Now he's gaining momentum and she's panicky.

Good.

Geraghty also offers an unconfirmed tip that Hoffman will get Sarah Palin's endorsement. Sounds right to me.

As ace and others have pointed out, NY-23 isn't exactly super-liberal territory.

She is a horrible candidate for the Republican Party in a district we don't have to lose. This fight isn't just about winning NY-23, it's also an opportunity to send a message to the RNCC about the kind of candidates they're pushing. If you haven't already donated to Hoffman, you can here.

ScozzafavaFAIL: this thing got crashed by everybody yesterday.

Jay Cost Explains Why Liberal Media Polls Keep Getting 55+% Support for the "Public Option:" The Feel-Good Phrasing of the Question
— Ace

I thought this might be the case, but I didn't do my homework and look at all the various formulations the liberal media polling outfits employ to push-poll this to the public.

If you use the Democrats' focus-group-tested buzzwords in the question -- "compete," "option," "choose" -- you get support.

As Kellyanne Fitzpatrick remarks, this is no surprise:

Asking an under-informed public in a poll about "public option" is incomplete. It calls for a response to feel-good phraseology rather than a probing of underlying ideology. "Public option" in health care is not so different from "campaign finance reform," "Violence Against Women's Act," "revenue enhancements" or for that matter, "world peace' and "no rain this Saturday."

Rasmussen asks the question two ways. First, they use the liberal media's Democrat focus-group-tested terminology, and they get results congruent with the liberal media's polls.

Then they ask a follow-up:

Suppose that the creation of a government-sponsored non-profit health insurance option encouraged companies to drop private health insurance coverage for their workers. Workers would then be covered by the government option. Would you favor or oppose the creation of a government-sponsored non-profit health insurance option if it encouraged companies to drop private health insurance coverage for their workers?

Result? Nearly 60% disapproval.
