A bitter and defiant Gov. Paterson is claiming that President Obama's attempted political hit job has only given him "renewed vigor" to seek a full term next year, The Post has learned.

Paterson made the astonishing claim during a small and somber fund-raising event with about 60 contributors in Manhattan -- just hours after being repeatedly dissed by Obama during a presidential visit Monday to a community college in Troy, a witness said.

Yesterday, the governor also appeared to point some of the finger of blame for his political problems at Obama and the fierce partisanship gripping Washington.

The president and his aides "haven't exactly been able to govern in the first year of their administration in the way that other administrations have, where you would have, theoretically, a period in which the new administration is allowed to pass the needed pieces of legislation," Paterson said.

Help me out lefties...is Paterson a racist for attacking Obama or is Obama a racist for attacking Obama?

We have been laughing on our back channel at BLACKFIVE about the Biden plan to have our secret squirrels locate al Qaeda and then let our magic ninjas swoop in and take them out. The idea is ludicrous for many reasons, but mostly because we don't have the will to do the dirty trickery necessary to pull it off.

Ever since we eviscerated the CIA in the Carter era and destroyed any ability to do human intelligence we have relied on electronic intercepts and satellite imagery for our weak and generally wrong "intelligence". While those tools can be useful, absent a humint capability, they are woefully inadequate. So the idea that we could rely on them is a joke I 'm surprised they have the stones to make. Targeted strikes by UAVs in Pakistan have been successful, but expanding that into a theater-wide, pipehitter free fire zone is not gonna happen. 

If I thought for a minute that they were serious about actually resourcing this and providing the networks of spies, warlords, assassins, and shady characters with satchels of cash it would take to make it work, I might could get behind it. But does anyone see the Obama administration, which right now is thinking about prosecuting the CIA for being mean to terrorists, doing any of that? All right, get up off the floor.

Biden's plan is a way to cut and run, while maintaining that you are doing neither. That is why it is becoming increasingly likely. I think the more we say Biden plan though, the more damage we do to it's viability. Seriously, just say it out loud...Biden plan. It makes my brain cry out in pain.

You know all those lousy speeches he gave before to foreign audiences? Yeah, this is worse.

I'll try to get some excerpts or a transcripts but so far it is simply disgusting.

The guy honestly think the world began at Noon on January 20th of this year.

He's really going on about America just being one of the team and we'll give up a little (a lot) to be a good team player. I'm not sure if he's idealistic enough to think this is possible/desirable or simply wants to see America brought low in order to atone for past wrongs (the latter is looking more and more likely).

Either way, the sharks he is talking to are more than willing to take whatever he's willing to give up and they won't reciprocate by doing what little he's saying they should do in return.

Oh, my...

The conversation about how we communicate with each other despite being aware of the clear impressions that I know that I make in rooms that I walk into, when people hear my voice, is a challenge. How much do I express the... I think really pretty obvious complaints of black Americans in rooms full of whites.

This... there's nothing more difficult than this. Because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem. We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power.

Hmm...this 'centrist' president of ours really has surrounded himself with more than a few radicals, hasn't he?

Item #1: Oktoberfest begins!
Oktoberfest started in Munich yesterday. What could be better than 16 million liters of beer under tents, greasy food, and lots of girls in dirndls. And don't forget the Schweinsbraten (roast pork), Haxn (knuckle of pork), and Weisswurst (a white sausage). I expect they have bacon too but they probably call it something completely weird and German.

Apparently they cannot survive the rapid change in water depth when they come to the surface, which is the only thing keeping us all alive right now.

Without a 2/3rds majority -- which the bill doesn't have -- the bill wouldn't go into effect for 90 days.

Except the Governor can claim it's an "emergency" which would put it into effect immediately.

Except, you know, this is not an "emergency" and even the archliberal SJC might balk if this were challenged in court.

A governor just can't declare routine business is an "emergency." If this was an "emergency," Ted Kennedy could have resigned while he was missing 95% of Senate votes.

And it's going to be hard to claim this is an "emergency" given the law previously said a governor could appoint a successor but they changed the law to keep a vacant senate seat open until a special election 150 days or so after the vacancy.

This "emergency," then, was deliberately created by Massachusetts legislators. As in: This was the whole point of the change.

They chose to change the law (to prevent Romney from choosing Kerry's successor, had he won in 2004) and permit a vacancy for 150 days or so. How can they now claim it's an "emergency" if the seat is unfilled for ninety days?

For the first time, independent voters—who delivered Mr. Obama the White House and Democrats control of the Congress—disapprove of the job he is doing, 46% to the 41% who approve. In July, 49% of independents approved of the president, against 38% who disapproved.

New doubts about the president have coincided with new hopes for Republicans, who appeared flattened by the election nearly a year ago.

As the 2010 election cycle heats up, independent voters now favor Republican control of Congress by four percentage points.
