— DrewM I'll just leave this here without further comment.
Speaker John Boehner and other senior House Republicans are telling donors and industry groups that they aim to pass immigration legislation this year, despite the reluctance of many Republicans to tackle the divisive issue before the November elections. Many lawmakers and activists have assumed the issue was off the table in an election year. But Mr. Boehner said at a Las Vegas fundraiser last month he was "hellbent on getting this done this year," according to two people in the room.
Added: Senator who partnered with Democrats to pass a comprehensive immigration reform bill that Obama would sign in a heartbeat, fumbles and flips around on amnesty some more.
“I think this administration has probably reached the point of irreconcilable differences with regards to trust, particularly among Republicans,” Rubio explained during a conversation at a Texas Tribune event on Tuesday....
“There is a true distaste--and rightfully so--for comprehensive pieces of legislation,” he said.
Rubio explained that he believed that immigration would always have to be addressed in a sequential process.
“It doesn’t happen all at once, but I think it’s a lot better than continuing to go in circles here, and this all-or-nothing approach that for 14 years has led to nothing.”
So....we're just supposed to forget that less than a year ago he was the GOP poster-boy for what he's now saying is bad policy?
Rubio should stick to giving speeches about how much he loves America. He's very good at that. He's not quite as good at actual politics.
As Churchill once said about returning to the Conservative Party after abandoning it for the Liberal Party, "Anyone can rat, but it takes a certain amount of ingenuity to re-rat.". Rubio, who has gone from amnesty opponent to supporter and is now trying to get back to opponent, does not have Churchill's level of ingenuity.

I can't trust myself to do that without winding up on a list somewhere. Here's something though. In all the years I've lived in his district, I never remember seeing more than one ad for his election, and that's run before the actual election. He's been running them for the primary this year.

John Boehner - November 08, 2012 http://tinyurl.com/ptt3jah
"“It’s an important issue that I think ought to be dealt with. This issue has been around far too long,” the Ohio Republican told ABC’s Diane Sawyer in an interview. “While I believe it’s important for us to secure our borders and to enforce our laws, I think a comprehensive approach is long overdue, and I’m confident that the president, myself, others, can find the common ground to take care of this issue once and for all.”
The gutless fuck has been wanting to do this for a long time.

No Senate election in PA. So no worries about Obama's SCOTUS picks.
My current Rep is a stone NE liberal who has voted with the establishment every effing time. (district mostly encompasses Reading, Allentown and some other New York/New Jersey fleeing transplants who brought their insanity with them.)
And I live in a Gerrymandered conservative section 60 miles from all that but it's a tiny slice so we have about as much influence on the outcome as a fart in a hurricane.
The only thing I could do that might give me a sense of accomplishment is to vote Democrat so's the GOP gets the smug wiped off their face . . . maybe.
So this election's a wash for me.

Agribusiness and chicken processors to hold down wages (and that has always been the main draw for open borders, even in the early 1900s.
Democrats who see a new endless supply of voters.
Those high-tech H1B visas that folks talk about are a different animal all together. They are NOT amnesty, but the high tech companies want them for the same reason; hold down wages. Currently we have have a LOT of unemployed high tech workers. There is no reason what-so-ever to import another batch except for cheap labor.

You have to understand Unionism
Members of a union fare better when the majority of their neighbors are NOT in a union.
Because THEN they have the money advantage. They make more money than the norm for the area.
Unions LOVE illegal workers (except in union jobs) as that lowers the wages and prices for goods and services which raises the standard of living for Union workers.
Unions are ONLY good for the Union members. It's a lie that they make the country/community better.

I worked for an IT company in Ohio for 7 years which had a large number of Indians on Visas.
For some reason, I was always under the impression that they actually had to be paid more than the average American IT worker to demonstrate that they were actually needed and not just cheap labor. That must be incorrect though. Does anyone know?

Punish a business that hires illegals 5,000 for each worker for the first offense. 25,000 thereafter.
Exile the owners to the illegals' country of origin.

AND
2) The GOPe does this in direct opposition to their alleged "base." So whatever votes they DO gain are more than negated by the number of votes they're going to fucking lose from disgusted former supporters who are sick of being the beaten housewife in this relationship.

Any amnesty talk--which, if it is to happen--will come later in the year, closer to election time.
Meaning such will favor the more conservative Republicans who'll promise to oppose amnesty.
There are already reports of some 50 Republicans on-board with kicking Boehner out.
67 more and he is gone.
Math so easy, I'm sure even a dumb ass like him can figure it out.
The one and only constructive thing you can do to stop amnesty is to get your Congressman on record as promising to vote against Boehner if he brings an amnesty bill to the floor.

If they include a postage paid envelope in whatever they send you (like for donations or surveys or whatever) send it back to them with your contempt for all they do scrawled across the survey/donation form. If you've got some unassuming spammish mail lying around (coupons, shit out of the Pennysaver, what have you), stuff that into the envelope, too; weigh it down so it costs more. Do that a few times and they'll stop sending you those kinds of requests. You'll probably still get stuff from individual politicians, though.

This probably won't help your blood pressure, but that's kind of what my mom did back in the 70's. Overstayed her visa, married my dad, had me, then one day had an interview with some immigration officer where she pleaded her case and the (female) officer approved her green card. Easy peasy. She did not have to pay a single cent.
For my wife, on the other hand, we are going through the legal process now, with about $1500 going to Uncle Sam for the privilege (for now).

It's worse than that.
They want to pump the stomach of victory out to regurgitate already chewed up defeat, and revive the amnesty cr*p and put it back on a sandwich.
Why? Because losing to Democrats is a lot easier than explaining to troublesome Republicans why you wont do what they want.

Drew,
While no one likes a blind cheerleader for the GOP, do you really feel proud to continue the conservative civil war? All posts like this do is drain Republican enthusiasm, increase our apathy, and turn less Republicans out to the polls. Where democrats then crush us and we have more progressive rule and the country continues its downward spiral to destruction.
We would have won in 12 if Republicans were enthusiastic about Romney, but instead people like you who are blinded by the need for pure position purity felt the need to criticize him and lower Republican turnout.
We are conservatives. We are suppose to judge actions not by their intentions, but by their results. Your intention may be to fight for the perfect candidate, but the result is you let the progressives win. They benefit from this, not us.
So why don't you start hyping pluses instead of harping on negatives?
For example, Boehner killed the planned immigration reform. If he wanted it to happen as written, it would have. Because he killed it, now he gets to dictate the terms. And immigration reform does need to be done on our terms, not the democrats, to get a secure border.

"Dude, 8 years of GW Bush left us with more debt, more government spending than when he found it. In the long-run GW Bush administrations will bankrupt just as well as Obama's. "
That's simply not true. Bush was bad, but Obama has spent much more, and debt to GDP is much higher these days. We'd be in much better shape if we had a GWB than an Obama.
"We have a massive government leviathan that is inefficient at all levels of government, and both establishment republicans and dems are responsible for that."
Republicans are determined to shrink it. Democrats are determined to enlarge it. Even if Republicans try, and fail, to shrink government it is going to grow much less rapidly than under Dems.

and should they receive praise? Yes
Maybe they haven't earned it, but they should still get it. We need to back our people to the hilt.

This. If a conservative Congress is elected in November, ramming amnesty through the outgoing Congress can be the Establishment GOP's last hurrah FU to the base. After the base stays home in 2016, the Establishment will blame the conservative Congress for the resulting loss.

Why did anyone care about McLame's age? "
"No one did."
Leftists care passionately about using any excuse to mock a Republican. when it was 35 year old Mandel against 60 something aging Sherrod Brown it was 'maturity' against 'he's just a boy' (about a 30 something war veteran!). For McCain/Obama it was 'grumpy old man' vs 'he's the future'.
Wheeling out old warmonger grandma the screeching crone, they will be using a lot of pancake makeup to create whatever image is necessary ... to win.

Minimally, there's no reason to do immigration reform when the Dem's are in charge of 2/3rds of the process.
