— Purple Avenger In a "correction" letter sent to Dingy Harry, the CBO director lets the cat out of the bag regarding claimed Medicare savings.
...Medicare spending per beneficiary under the legislation would increase at an average annual rate of roughly 2 percent during the next two decades—well below the roughly 4 percent annual growth rate of the past two decades. It is unclear whether such a reduction in the growth rate could be achieved, and if so, whether it would be accomplished through greater efficiencies in the delivery of health care or would reduce access to care or diminish the quality of care....I really pity the CBO analysts who are forced to work within a framework of magical thinking when they do all this scoring stuff.
Obviously seniors are thrilled with prospect of long waiting lists and substandard care, and you should be too. Less is more in the magic kingdom of Ogabeland.

If our health care is going to be crap and we are going to have Death Panels the least they could do it always us to self medicate and smoke and drink ourselves to an early death.
You know, just like the English are now.

Counterbalancing it is a 1% chance that the Red Chinese will nuke us into radioactive dust for welching on our debts to them, prior to our actual use of the medical care.
THAT's why the "might" is in there.

The graphic is pretty simple. Show one trend line of Medicare funding growing at a 4% rate bending flatter to reflect a 2% growth rate. And overlay that with a healthcare cost inflation curve simultaneously bending UP to reflect the increase in costs due to the provisions of Obama/Reid/PelosiCare.
Then illustrate the growing gap between the curves with images of seniors waiting in line, being turned away from treatment, attending funerals....

Given where we are right now, their predictions are obviously much rosier than reality 99% of the time...but that's not their fault because congress compels them to work with bogus assumptions. When you're forced to assume 1==2, all things become possible, and deranged alternate realities become the norm.

What kind of track record does the CBO enjoy? Anyone have details? I know of their more spectacular failures, which, taken alone should be enough to thoroughly discredit them to anyone except your typical Democrat, but how are they in the mean?

Now they pile on with a health care 'reform'. It's not allowed by the Constitution either. You can 'promote' the public welfare, but you can't 'provide' it. This train left the station with Lying Baines Johnson's fucking 'Great Society' in the sixties. It's time for some train wrecking.

Long story short, there are symbols beside these tests which can be ordered. They indicate what is not or may not be covered under Medicare/Medicaid. They say:
"May not be covered for the reported diagnoses."
"Has prescribed frequency rules for coverage."
"A test or service performed with research/experiment kit."
"Has both diagnosis and frequency-related coverage limitations."
I couldn't help but think....we'll all be under this shit soon.

Let me see if I understand this:
1. The annual increase in Medicare spending will drop from 4% to a 2% per year.
2. Meanwhile, the number of people enrolled in Medicare will explode as the Baby Boomers get into the system.
3. In addition to #2, the Senate's plan will decrease the Medicare eligibility age to 55.
4. And to top it off, the number of people on Medicare will outnumber those working and paying for it.
What could possibly go wrong?
My big fear is that a great deal of resentment will start to bubble over against the old and the retirees once the younger working people start to feel the crunch. It's at that point that the death panels will kick in because those being bled to death by taxation will not want to pay for long term care for the elderly.
You've lived a good life Grandma, I realize you're only 80 and that with quality medical care you could have had a few more years with your family, but that's too expensive so it's time to die.

Anybody else hear about Burris getting money from Obumblescare to finance a seperate office on minority health? So, let me see if I can get this right without drawing the ire of Shelly Whitesheets (Dumbass) RI.
Being minorities tend to eat more poorly and have higher instances of diabetes and high blood pressure, does this mean that more of our money and services will be directed at them, compromising our healthcare yet even further, while they basically get a free pass to continue eating whatever they want?
Because that's exactly how I'm taking it.

I also worry about my niece. She has Down Syndrome and a heart defect, too. That's true. I see people buying all sorts of crap (most of which is NOT food) down at Wal-Mart with their EBT cards, which are food stamps in debit form. I don't think they're supposed to be able to do that, but I've never seen anyone question someone with an EBT card. Frankly, I don't think the Wal-Mart cashiers really care, so long as they pay with something. I've also known quite a few people at my last place of business that would get all the food they could from the WIC program, and then sell it out of their cars.

I feel for you and your mom. As much as I'm in total despair over what's going to happen to us all in due time, the worst of the worst brunt will be felt by those past the "desirable age" who are dealing with very grave diseases. My mom just passed away in October at age 73. As crushing a blow as it was to me, I was thankful she didn't have to live long enough to experience the rationed nightmare that is going to befall all those in that age group. They will be left to suffer and go without treatment. After all...they were once 25 too! Time to accept reality and punch out. Oh wait...that is the game plan for us all, but not for the f_ing bastards in Washington. It's primo care all the way for them.

Just sorta idly wondering: if, under the glorious new system, you get diagnosed with something and the government, in its infinite benevolvence and wisdom, decides you aren't worth saving, isn't in their best interest to dead you (or at least detain you) really quickly?
After all, a person (or relative thereof) who just got handed a nice long, slow, lingering death sentence by the govenrment *might* conceivably decide to exercise some Second Amendment rights upon the noble, hard-working, dedicated, public-serving bureaucrats who made that decision.
This has a distinct possibility of not ending well.
