— Ace I asked in my last post on this which official -- and of course I was implying someone taking orders from the White House -- put out the word that this was a case of "firecrackers."
I wasn't just wrong but I could have seen that question wasn't well-founded if I'd read what I needed to read about the matter. Several papers quote passengers or the captain offering this description.
Sorry about that, got very careless, made an error. Tossed out a badly-founded implication without doing the minimum amount of homework necessary to do so.

OT(?): Just bought some beer, booze, and boolits. And dropped off my laundry. Didn't buy and firecrackers and pillowcases though. Still a productive day.
I wonder if the administration thinks people getting blown out of the sky by "a case of firecrackers" somehow makes it ok?

Is this post meant to counteract the insinuation in the second Dickless Detonator Dude thread that the false firecracker story, used to downplay the incident, was first made by a (Muslim?) BBC hack working the Beeb's Washington beat?
BTW, the earliest Canadian (private) CTV News link I put up about the event also made the firecrackers-only claim. (I think I posted it around 10 p.m.)

I think you miss the point of the correction.
Blogs build their credibility one post at a time. It is, in fact, a waste of the readers time for a blogger to continually post shit he has to retract and constantly correct.
There are many fine conservative blogs on the internet that don't have anywhere near the ratio of incorrect, retracted or corrected posts. I've commented from time to time on this, but doesn't seem to do much good.
Ace, sloppy as ever, isn't even asking the correct questions.
The correct question isn't "who shouted firecracker."
The correct question is: Why did the US State Department give a known terrorist a visa to enter our country.
You cannot board a flight in Amsterdam bound for Detroit without first receiving permission from the US Department of State.
So, not only does ACE waste time with stupid factually incorrect questions, he's not even asking the correct questions.

That's alright Ace -- I think Jawa got snookered when he posted a video of a binary explosive. The video showed something the size of a match head vaporizing a watermelon. If you make conventional explosives that powerful you probably wouldn't need nukes. BTW -- according to Jawa the explosive used was PETN.

@16
So I'd really like to know who the hell started putting out the word to the media that this was just a matter of some "firecrackers."
I didn't know Ace was referencing this sentence of his. I thought he was worried about the MSM's unfounded claims that it was only firecrackers and not a "serious" explosive device being used to downplay the incident out of pro-Islamic p.c. that in his comments section blamed a specific BBC hack. Viz.
It was this guy, from the BBC. Imtiaz Tyab.

And I was noting that the MSM made the firecrackers being set off claim (and not "sounded like a firecracker") early yesterday evening in their first reports.
And B+, you were responding to my CTV link last night that made the firecracker claim.

Jeez. I basically missed this entire story (I'm at the in-laws for the holidays, zero time allotted for news watching/net use). Finally getting caught up. I think I have the sequence of events understood pretty well.
Thrilled that this time the good guys prevailed, but we are living on borrowed time. Our government simply isn't serious about protecting us from Islamist madmen, that much is clear. Whatever list this dung-stain was on, it didn't do one bit of good.
Obama should think long and hard about this incident. If this terrorist had taken a page from that Salahi duo, it could be Obama himself in the hospital (or worse) rather than the passenger(s?) that subdued the worm. I know Obama loathes history, but he really should learn from it. We're weakening at the stress points just when we should be strengthening them.

One of our big problems, of course, is that we don't treat attempts like this the way we should. They only failed because of some extenuating circumstances, and we got lucky in the process. They should be treated as if they had successfully carried out their mission, and our reaction should also be commensurate with the reaction to a successful such attack.
Individualistic laws of civilized societies do not extend willy-nilly into the aether. They serve for policing individualistic societies which cherish individual liberty, not for ordering the savage, ruthless world in a way that it neither understands nor cares about.

No attacks v. USA in the 7 years of Bush post 9/11 - what did Bush miss exactly re counterterrorism?
Under Obama, we now have two successful domestic attacks and one near miss yesterday on Christmas - so how is that better than Bush, exactly?
Obama's weakness and apology tours are encouraging terror attacks on the United States. Those are facts, not claims.
Regardless, we are where we are now - perhaps a dozen separate Obama public speeches of apology and butt kissing to "the Muslim world", and now at least three US Domestic terror attacks since Obama's arrival:
1. Murder of soldier in Little Rock by Islamic extremist
2. Murder of 13 soldiers and unborn child by Islamic extremist at FT Hood, and now
3. Attempted bombing of a plane in Michigan
Obviously, the kiss Muslim butt strategy is not working.

The Kaneohe Klipper golf course overlooks the Pacific Ocean, and is well-known among island golfers as a scenic course.
