Eric Boehlert, Liar
— Ace

Patterico and Matt Welch are spelling Andrew Breitbart (who stings Boehlert ten times a week).

Donald Douglas sums it up at Right Wing News.

Welch proves that Boehlert is a whiny ninny, and that's great, but, like, come on. That's like proving OJ Simpson had trouble letting go.

Patterico proves he's a liar, which is also kind of obvious, but it sure is nice to see it proven so thoroughly.

No argument from me.  BP is definitely moving on to my shit list.

If the management were thrashed within an inch of their lives they would deserve it.

However, I'm thinking that Barry and the Democratic Congress are planning on going all Bill of Attainder and Ex Post Facto on them.  That has to be fought, no matter who that makes us allies with.

38 I agree. Also, it's a bitter irony (for BP) that they contributed all that campaign money to Obama only to be kicked under the bus when he no longer needs them. But he's using them to shift blame, & the British people feel that he's utilizing this crisis to slam their country. A lot of anger across the pond.

/Aside: My dad works in oil industry, so I'm not happy about how this is going to affect his work.

As i said in the morning thread. This 20 billion in escrow is only going to go to unionized companies affected by the spill and public union workers cleaning up the spill in the marshes.

And the best thing, from Obama's view, is that when the 20 billion is blown, he will be able to blame BP for not making the people of the Gulf whole again.

He will be able to mismanage the money and still get away with blaming BP.

It is a win win for him.

63 BP bears most of the blame here, criticizing Obama's incompetence should not take away from that.

I liken it to the San Francisco earthquake and subsequent fires caused by incompetence.  Blame them both.

From Wiki:

As damaging as the earthquake and its aftershocks  were, the fires that burned out of control afterward were even more destructive.[17]  It has been estimated that up to 90% of the total destruction was the result of the subsequent fires.[18]  Over 30 fires, caused by ruptured gas mains, destroyed approximately 25,000 buildings on 490 city blocks. Worst of all, many were started when firefighters, untrained in the use of dynamite, attempted to demolish buildings to create firebreaks, which resulted in the destruction of more than 50% of the buildings that would have otherwise survived.[19]  The city's Fire Chief, Dennis T. Sullivan, who would have been responsible, had died in the initial quake. The dynamited buildings themselves often caught fire. In all, the fires burned for four days and nights.

IMO what happened today was that the government just took over BP. They are now owned by the government. In Obama's speech after the meeting he announced that the meeting will enable them to set up a legal framework. Trouble is we already have a legal framework, one that was ignored with GM, Chrysler and now BP.

I could care less about BP, I do care that as soon as a company gets in trouble these days all reference to our current form of government is ignored and a new one pops up.

Where exactly does it stop?

BP bears most of the blame here, criticizing Obama's incompetence should not take away from that.

Its looking more and more like BP was negligent.  That makes the spill their fault.  Refusing help, refusing to utilize contingencies plans, refusing to allow local authorities to act and refusing to put alternative methods to use are zero's fault.  The environmental catastrophe is entirely on him.  And all this refusal and posturing is what makes me think it likely there is a conspiracy on the zero admin's part to allow this to become an environmental catastrophe.
