I feel very bad for whatever miscreant is standing in 15 degree arc directly in front of this weapon.

1 I was wondering if you were going to see that video of the belt feed shotgun.

2 A few feed problems but pretty novel, I must say.

3 I think that sucker had a forward assist!

Posted by: Soap MacTavish at November 20, 2009 04:44 PM (554T5)

4 I don't know, kept jamming an awful lot. Still - you get hit just once by that thing, and I don't think you care if it jams on the very next round, heh, heh.

7 Check out the AA-12.Drum fed auto shotgun and it works very well thank you.

8 A whiff of the grape.

9 It didn't look so much like a need for a forward assist but a better designed belt advance system.

I would love to own an AA-12 but must make do with a Saiga 12 (a 12 ga AK) until then. Get 'em while you can as the factory is said to be bankrupt. You tube has many videos of Saiga 12s rock and rolling.

13 Nits to pick: Tank Destroyer!?

The Spambots decided our fate in an instant.

We WILL buy laptop batteries!

15 16I think it's an AMX-10 PAC.

Need a laptop battery? We'll go back in time and kill somebody for one.

19 It looked a bit like an M18 Hellcat w/ a bigger gun (105mm?).  I'm not very familiar with Frankish designs.

Posted by: RicardoVerde at November 20, 2009 05:33 PM (PBTsv)

20 The tank looks like an AMX-13, although there was a Austrian TD that used the AMX-13 turret and looks very similar.

Posted by: Arbalest at November 20, 2009 05:33 PM (Ym9lj)

21 25 Yes the French vehicle was widely exported.I think only the Austrians used the Kurassier.

Posted by: steevy at November 20, 2009 05:39 PM (NP5DE)

22

A closer look suggests that the tracks and hull match that of the Austrian SK-105.  The tracks could be an upgrade of some kind, but the hull front and upper section, just above the track, points to the SK-105. But the video is dark, so it's tough to be sure.

23 Shotguns are for tossers and sheep shaggers.  Give me my L86 LSW any day.

Posted by: Roach Sanderson at November 20, 2009 05:47 PM (Gzb30)

24

26  There are/were only a few users of the SK-105, and the Australians are not listed, so I suspect it might be a de-miled one that was sold to a collector.

Also, I don't remember shots (with 0 or + elevation) landing within 100 meters and looking like a pyrotechnic.  But it's been a while for me.

Posted by: Arbalest at November 20, 2009 05:53 PM (Ym9lj)

25 I just want one of those Remington ACRs but not sure which caliber.  Is there a civilian version yet, or does that means I'll get a visit from those black Suburbans?

Posted by: RicardoVerde at November 20, 2009 05:53 PM (PBTsv)

OTOH, Skeet or trap, or even hunting Cape Buffalo (with even the original 75mm L70 gun) is clearly a sport only for the most discerning and adventurous of hunters.

This is now on my list.

30 'Home-made' huh?  Actually, it looks like he was using the design concept of the M1919 Browning MG.  The shape of the receiver and the feed opening is unmistakable.

I suspect his 'feed' problems come from insufficient mechanical force [and contact] on the feed pawl.  A shotgun shell isn't that much heavier than a 30-6 cartridge, but it is 'bulkier'.  Just a slight tweak should do it.

The only other problem is the 'linked belt': it's obviously 'custom' since getting disintegrating links to fit a 12 Ga. shell might be a bit much to ask for.  Oh well.

Looks like somebody's gonna be getting a visit from the BATF, never-the-less.

32 Another thought just hit me.

The barrel's too short; the amount of force generated by the propellant gases is dispersing too early [the weapon is essentially has a 'recoil operated' feed cycle].

Put a 'legal' 18" barrel on it.

I think you'd see a world of difference.

Just say'n mind ya.

Posted by: CPT. Charles at November 20, 2009 06:29 PM (lYKj1)

33 Oh yeah, he'd also need a heavier recoil spring if he does all that.

Almost forgot that part.

34 Racist!

Posted by: Kemp at November 20, 2009 06:48 PM (2+9Yx)

35 It looks like an AR-15 type lower receiver under that thing, so I'm guessing he's got a M-16 with stamp.  With any luck, he even ran the design past the BATF tech branch guys and got their blessing.

36 Looks like somebody's gonna be getting a visit from the BATF, never-the-less.

Not if they have a type 7 (or 10) FFL.

You can have one too, for $3k annually...

37 Tank skeet? Impossible! That would be like hitting "a bullet with a bullet", to coin a phrase. I'm not going to even bother watching the video, 'cause it has to be fake.

38 Skeet shooting with a tank!! Cool!!   I want to try that at the local army base!!!

Hmmmm..

What should I try first?

The old M60?
The newer M1?
Or the 20mm on the M2 Bradley?
Decisions, decisions!!

So, not only have the spambots achieved sentience, but now they're pro-gun control?  They want us to be helpless when they take over...

The tank skeet shoot was bogus.  It was a clever commercial, however.  As a former "13-Fox" (forward observer), I've seen plenty of HE air- and ground-bursts and thats not what they look like.  The "ground-burst" in the commercial was a petrolium pyrotechnic:  you don't get that orange flame and black smoke plume in the real thing.

The guys with the shotgun get an A for effort but D for execution.  They better have gotten the proper BATF permits or they've got some explaining to do.

I want one!

That belt-fed shotgun is too cool.  Perfect for those of us with a "bunker mentality".

Unfortunately, the Army wouldn't let me leave with my Browning M-2.

Bastids.  (chuckle)
