— Dave in Texas Special coverage from Forbes, the 67 Most Powerful People in the World. Because power is better.
No surprise to see Obama in the top slot, and Hu Jintao right behind him. I'm a little surprised to see Wal-Mart CEO Mike Duke ahead of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett (a little surprised, not hugely surprised).
Pope Benedict XVI is in the top 20, check, also various heads of state. I had no idea the CEO of Telmex is the world's 3rd richest dude. Hillary is listed as is Bill (but she's #17 and he's #31).
Check this dude out at #41, Joachin Guzman. Mexican druglord edges out the President of Russia.
And finishing up at an impressive #67, everybody's favorite burrito-head sammichscarfinbutterbean*, Hugo Chavez. The article says Forbes decided a major contributing factor was not only to have power, but to actively use it. See Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

Apple announced today that it has developed a breast implant that can store and play music. The iTit will cost from $499 to $699, depending on cup and speaker size.. This is considered a major social breakthrough, because women are always complaining about men staring at their breasts and not listening to them.

Wow, now there's some devastating humor there. I totally get what Ace was saying now.

Yeah.
Is it wrong that I thought LauraW wrote this post just because it said "Hump Day" in the title?

You beat me to it. I was going to mention that they are including worm food on this list

I'm surprised Ahmadinejad did not make the list. If by "power" you mean the ability to make people miserable, then Ahmadinejad definitely belongs on the list.
By the way, did you see the list of "experts" that Forbes compiled to select the seven most influential figures? I mean, Wesley Clark picking the seven most important warriors in the world today? Or Katie Couric, of all people, picking the most important media figures? Whatever.

And how many million of them are young men who can't find a date/wife after all the female babies were killed due to the one-child policy?
(You think the problem is bad, wait until you see the government's solution!)

They are a construct of southwestern US and extreme northern Mexican cuisine.
Venezuelan food is rather mild - with fish, fried bananas, and Dutch cheese predominating.
However, Chavez is an ass in the extreme . . .

Bennies are being slashed BIG TIME in order to try to save jobs. We'll see how it goes. Still get perturbed when I consider that he thinks he's not paying enough in taxes, though.
BTW, by "big time" I mean the 401K is almost gone.

I see Stephen Harper is under the radar. He's in Hopenhagen and he's not signing anything. He's a big time conservative and is acting it out accordingly.
His major problem is how many more troops will he send to Afghanistan?
Canadian troops are in the forefront and taking an inordinate amount of casualties. Decisions, decisions.
He hates the UN.
They want Canada to really hand over the carbon cash and Harper is laughing at them.
Our economy grew in real terms because our dollar is not levered very much. He's a sane leader in an insane world. I guess he doesn't rate.
Our cap and tax went in the garbage can-thanks to Harper.

Steven Den Beste? For real? I quoted your HA post yesterday.

You're a class act.

"false choice"
"tired dogmas/theories"
"My predecessor"/"last 8 years"/"The previous administration"/etc (not sure exactly the phrase he usually uses for this)
"Mmm, mmm, mmm, ME"

Suggestions?

No surprise to see Obama in the top slot
It must be a propoganda list. They want people to believe Obama is powerful, but he's only what his handlers tell him he is. And he has many handlers.

Is that a political analogy, Herr M? If it is, you should start writing Ace's analogies for him.

Love your stuff Dave. Love Uncle Jim's stuff. All the military news.
Sorta feeling it for giving Uncle Jimbo a hard time. The thread from hell is still going. Every once in a while, i throw a little gas on it. Its all fun.
