Irish Green Party Idiot Uses " Most Unpariliamentary Language"
— Ace

Content warning for f-bomb.

Maybe this isn't fair, but when he says this, I hear him saying "Eff you, boy."

Seems like other lefties are looking to emulate Alan Grayson and show their Purity of Anger through stuff like this. Guaranteed way for an idiot back-bencher to get swamped with donations.

By the way, he said he was prompted to his outburst by "patriotism." And partly by "me Lucky Charms."

Via Hot Air's headlines.

When Congressman Wilson said "You lie!," he apologized and shrunk back, never defending his action.  The Left isn't bound by shame or issues of decorum.  They are not bound by rules.  So they will do more of this if there aren't major sanctions.  I agree with Ace, we'll see more of this.

We're in an amazing era, a golden age of publicly expressed irrationality and venom. Every time I think we've reached the bottom, some public figure proves me wrong. You know what's going to happen, don't you?

An electoral bloodbath. Everything we think we know about politics will be proven wrong in 2010. Not only will the GOP take back power, but it will do that which all the "experts" say can't be done, i. e. repeal entitlements and defund massive swathes of the government.

I'm absolutely certain now. There's revolution in the air. Can't you smell it? Smells like... napalm.

As soon as our side realizes that there is no virtue in displaying decorum, politeness, niceties, civil accommodations, or any polite face saving gestures to the enemies on the other side. See them for the monsters they are and treat them accordingly. Total, idealogical war is the only way out. They cannot be reformed, or enlightened, but instead, must be destroyed.

I wouldn't say that.  At least the Brits have troops in the ME, while leftist Irish like their idiot ex-pres Mary Robinson think Ireland's sainted "neutrality" makes them morally superior.  (Yeah, they're against all use of force unless it's IRA guys shooting up a pub or kneecapping someone.) Just a few weeks ago, I was reading about some Irish guy who converted to Islam and has now joined up with the jihadis.  He hopes to kill some Brits and Yanks.  Most Americans don't realize how popular anti-Americanism has become in Ireland, particularly Dublin.

I think many of them are pissed because their grandparents stayed  instead of  hopping on the boat to Boston.  Most of the ones with brains emigrated.  (Too bad the Kennedy clan didn't stay put.)

104 Slightly off topic but it is about another asshole politician

WASHINGTON (AFP) – The White House may be bedecked with baubles and awash with Christmas cheer, but its most famous resident appears a tad disgruntled with Santa.

When it comes to gifts, "I give nicer stuff than I get," President Barack Obama said half-jokingly in a interview to air on ABC television Sunday.

The man's humility knows no bounds

"You know, I do remember the one time I met my father he was visiting during Christmas and he gave me a basketball and -- the degree to which I came to love basketball -- it wasn't until much later in life that I realized, 'Actually, he gave me that basketball,'" Obama recalled.

"I think there was some cause and effect there in terms of the degree to which I just ended up taking up the sport as a kid who didn't know his dad."

Dredging up the daddy issues again.

By the way, he said he was prompted to his outburst by "patriotism." And partly by "me Lucky Charms."

Frosted Lucky Charms make him tragically malicious.

The Brits might disagree with this. Egotistical numb nut.

I raised the issue of Abandoned Child Syndrome last year.
I believe this guy is a total mess.

Clinton had a lot of similar issues behind the pathological lying and the poor impulse control.

Agreed.

But then Tiger acted similarly because of probably an overly involved dad whose death he is not coping with

110 Does "green" now mean "gay as hell"?

And is that OK to say that these days?

Seriously, I want to be cool by Ace.

America, in the future, please do not vote for Dems with daddy abandonment issues.

I think many of them are pissed because their grandparents stayed  instead of  hopping on the boat to Boston.  Most of the ones with brains emigrated.  (Too bad the Kennedy clan didn't stay put.)

Thank you for your insights into the fascinating new science of Eugenics, Donna V. Please tell me more! What other countries and ethnic groups are predisposed to stupidity or weak morals through their deficient genetic stock? I need to know who to look out for.

Just a few weeks ago, I was reading about some Irish guy who converted to Islam

I know a great many Irish people, including plenty of anti-American wankers, but no Islamic proselytes (good, bad or indifferent) yet. If you do want to find English-speaking converts to Islam, there are more obvious places to look, such as, for example, England. So it seems a bit strange to generalise about the Irish on the basis of such an oddball character. But then I'm not wise to the fast-developing methods of eugenic science.

(Yeah, they're against all use of force unless it's IRA guys shooting up a pub or kneecapping someone.)

Which reminds me. If you really want to find IRA supporters, there are in fact other, much better places to look, such as, for example, the United States. (Where does that link go? Do, do please find out.) Pot kettle black.

113 Here's some Irish newspaper coverage of the sensation. As you can see, Deputy Gogarty was actually defending his intention to vote for social-welfare cuts, which explains why he was a little testy. He's mostly right, by the way, that Ireland's current economic woes aren't the fault of the Greens. They're mostly the fault of the Greens' current coalition partners.

anonymous irishman,  are you currently residing in Ireland?  I'm looking to take my family over there for a vacation  holiday during the spring.  I'm also thinking of buying property in light of the housing bubble--do you know if yanks can get into the market without a hassle?

118 118:

I'm not a lawyer or a real-estate type, but I'm pretty sure there aren't any legal restrictions on US citizens, or nationals of most countries, owning land in the Republic (or in the UK). I'm also pretty sure that most estate agents and property owners here will be more than happy to take anyone's money, especially at the moment. There is indeed a lot of worthwhile property going begging in Ireland, especially nice new apartments in here in Dublin. Obviously you always have to keep your eye on lawyers and realtors, particularly if they're across jurisdictions, but you know that already. The one other cautionary thing I'll say is that just now the RE market here is a bit like the US market: there's a fair bit of extend-and-pretend going on and, partly for that reason, it's not clear whether prices have hit a real bottom or whether they'll drop again in another few months or years.

Ace, a few days ago you wrote that you just don't see any anti-Irish sentiment around. Just read this thread.

Can't be bothered to check whether someone else did this already: it's Ireland, after all.

You mean they don't talk like that all the time in the Irish Parliament (almost a contradictio in adiecto).

Next time, we'll cure Late Blight in the late 18th-century.

123 anonymous irishman:  my apologies for lumping in good Irish people with the idiots.  This story caught me at a bad time.  I spent a few hours on Friday night with liberal inlaws of Irish descent and they reassured me that the IRA boyos were nothing like al Queda, no, not at all and that blowing up Brits in pubs was justified because, well, they're Brits.  Listening to them put me deeply out of sorts and so when I saw this thread, I vented.  Yes, it was unfair of me and no, I do not believe in eugenics.  As  you pointed out and my experience made clear, much of the support for the IRA  comes from this side of the pond from dopes who kid themselves that  they're on the side of modern-day Robert Emmetts.

130 Thanks Donna V; we're cool now and the whole thing is old newspaper. I did mash the Righteous Indignation hooter a bit hard there. I very much feel your pain at being stuck in a room with a group of Provo sympathisers. In their defence, they likely didn't have a clue what they were talking about.
