— Slublog Barack Obama, October 15, 2008:
But there is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments. How's that promise working out for everyone? Now, what I've done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut. I haven't made a promise about...
...What I want to emphasize, though, is that I have been a strong proponent of pay-as- you-go. Every dollar that I've proposed, I've proposed an additional cut so that it matches.
One of the most important messages the GOP needs to communicate between now and November is that during the campaign, the president repeatedly lied to the American people. The question is, should we reward him for those lies by keeping his party in power, or should we hold him accountable for them by putting a check on his ability to continue crushing our economy?

He campaigned in the middle to get elected, and then he did what every democrat does. Obama moved to the left to govern.
Democrats are all liars. They and their media lap-dogs are in power to fool.

The GOP should make a series of ads showcasing Obama's campaign promises - vs. Obama's actual hard left actions.
Of course, there isn't enough space/time to actually commit that to a 30/60 second spot.

The Democrats spent eight years shrieking that Bush was a liar, even though he wasn't, and the GOP must be willing to be as forceful. It should be easy enough, too, given that Obama is a liar.
But if they go the "my friendsh" route ala McCain, we're doomed.

I posted this over at HotAir a few days ago in response to a liberal troll:
Here is what Barack Obama promised during the campaign on health care reform:
1. No individual mandate - he was VERY clear about this because it was a way to attack Hillary, who supported a mandate. Many, many debate clips can be found of him trashing an individual mandate, claiming that the reason so many people don't have health insurance is simply because they can't afford it, not because they just don't feel like paying for it.
2. ALL negotiations on C-SPAN - not just a last-miunte, fig-leaf, staged "summit" with Republicans after the bills have already passed the House and Senate.
3. NO special interest deals - yet the entire bill is one giant special interest deal for the insurance companies, Big Pharma, and the AMA.
4. EVERYONE who likes their current plan and doctor will be able to keep it. EVERYONE. Not, "everyone except seniors who like their Medicare Advantage Plans," or "everyone except smart people who know the best use of their money is to buy high-deductible catastrophic plans with a Health Savings Account."
5. Health insurance premiums will fall by an average of $3000. We haven't heard much about that one lately, but he said it in about a gazillion campaign speeches.
And this doesn't even count the ways this legislative process violated other promises he made about "changing the cukture in Washington", like posting all legislation for 72 hours, and waiting five days for the public to comment before he signs anything.
Republicans can play a nice game of jujitsu on this, highlighting the ways ObamaCare violates the promises made that progressives liked in Democratic districts, while highlighting the violations of promises that conservatives and independents liked in more conservative districts.

I don't disagree.
If there was someone better than JD Hayworth, I'd be all for getting rid of McCain. McCain is not a bad person. But dude, serious, retire already. I agree the GOP needs fresh talent. Still, we have to work with what we have and we too need to promote and inspire people to get up and run.
The frustrating aspect of the GOP is there inability to let fresh new people have a chance. Here in CO - we could have had Josh Penry run for governor and he would have been amazing. But no - the "establishment" candidate stepped in and pushed Penry out. The GOP are short-sided morons, but what is the alternative?
I have my gripes with the GOP on many levels. But the choice in Nov is going to be simple: imperfect GOP vs. Socialism. Pick.

Well, for a retard, he seems to have predicted everything that is going on in this country. You should put it into context. He shared that the husband of a big democratic liberal came into the studio to tell him "glen, she can't take it anymore, the lies the corruption, it's too much". He then went on to say that "we have to reach out to these people". I missed the part about the Christians.

It's pretty safe bet that two (R) terms are on the books for the (R) in 2012, which means it would have to be someone in the 45 to 50 year old bracket - today.
Age has nothing to do with it. And I think the nominee in 2012 will be someone we are not even discussing at this point.

What happened on March 23rd? In the year 2010, we know that Barrack Obama signed his Health Care Legislation into law against the will of the American People. Since no one knows for sure what is in this legislation yet, who knows what powers it gives the government. But, what significance does March 23rd have in history? On that date in 1933, the Ermächtigungsgesetz (Enalbing Act) became law in Germany. The Ermächtigungsgesetz was the second major act through which Chancellor Adolf Hitler legally obtained plenary powers and established his dictatorship.
Just a coincident. Move along.

"One of the most important messages the GOP needs to communicate between now and November is that during the campaign, the president repeatedly lied to the American people. The question is, should we reward him for those lies by keeping his party in power, or should we hold him accountable for them by putting a check on his ability to continue crushing our economy?"
Funny, that's how the GOP got Obama elected.
Right now the only thing the GOP has to offer is an alternative mode of Suck. Yes, they suck less, but they still suck. And they're not going to overturn Obama care - even if they wanted to (which is highly questionable), they won't have the veto-proof majorities to do it. So go ahead and just start disabusing yourselves of that fantasy right now - because it's just a fantasy.
The best thing conservatives and libertarians can do right now is loudly state their cases against bad policies by both the Democrats and the GOP. At this point, we're heading for the crash and there's no stopping it. The best we can do now is put ourselves in a good position to say "I told you so, now here are the solutions."
The bright side? The bigger the crash, the more momentum there will be to unroll socialism in America.
