— LauraW Nick Popaditch, the 'Cigar Marine', is running to represent CA District 51, a very very blue part of a blue state.
Good lookin' guy. I'm just sayin'. Don't really care, just noting it out loud.
He looks good.
Video below the fold.
Moments of interest:
He starts talking about the campaign at 1:28.
At 2:55 we get to see what's behind his totally badass eyepatch. Gives his handsome face an air of mysterious menace, don't you think?
At 3:30 a flush of warmth prompted me to remove my sweater.
At 3:40 I started imagining myself curled around him like an alien facehugger.
At 4:12 I experienced a spontaneous shuddering climax of a violence heretofore unknown to me and which will be referred to hence as Marine One.
Thanks to Peaches.

Eh, nowhere near the bathhouses.
Notice how his district gerrymanders right under 52 and 53 to cover the entire border with Mexico. What is his position on enforcement I wonder?

I like how he took out his knife and held it to Andy Levy's throat and made Levy sing the The Star Spangled Banner.

You can read Sgt. Popaditch's account of how he lost his eye in Matt Burden's "Blog of War" and he has written a book of his own: : "Once a Marine" If memory serves me, after retiring from the USMC the Sgt. went back to school, got a degree in education and went on to teach public school. This man is a winner all the way:

I knew the man when he was in Delta Company in 1st Tanks back in 2000. Went to the field with him a few times, didint know him well but he seemed like a very no-nosense fair guy. He also hated reporters (a plus) .

One of the more appealing aspects of Starship Troopers was that only veterans were allowed to vote and form the government. But that's just plain "fascism" because Heinlein was "fascist" like that.

Hmmm, don't know if it was sarc, never really picked up on any fascist leanings on his part but haven't read a lot of his stuff. I do know that in "the cat who walks through walls" he gives socialism a pretty good beatdown. btw - I'm still looking for deety.

OT but politically based:
The White House lashed out at the Gallup Poll on Tuesday after the survey's daily tracking numbers showed President Obama's approval rating dropping to a new low of 47 percent.
Asked for a response to Monday's tracking poll, which placed Obama's approval numbers among the lowest of any recent president in December of his first year in office, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs mocked the reliability of the widely respected polling firm.
"I tell you, if I was a heart patient and Gallup was my EKG, I'd visit my doctor," Gibbs said. "If you look back, I think five days ago, there was an 11-point spread, now there's a 1-point spread. I mean, I'm sure a 6-year-old with a crayon could do something not unlike that. I don't put a lot of stake in, never have, in the EKG that is the daily Gallup trend."
He added: "I don't pay a lot of attention to the meaninglessness of it."

He's a cross between Bruce Willis and Captain Ron.
I've got a man crush and I need to get my wife to move with me to CA-51 so I can vote for him.
Between him and Jesse Kelly, we'll have the Marines take Capital Hill.

LOL, those requirements would not out 90% of the population, much less women.
I have always said we should make paying a significant amount income tax as a requirement for voting. I would give the military members an exemption for time of active duty and 1 year after they are discharged.

It is. I'm just punching the socialist strawman who lives in my head that decries anything that portrays the military in a positive way as "fascist". Although he usually forgets that it's spelled with an s.
Hey, Tom: stay in Korea. Apparently you aren't an American anymore.
It's more entrepreneurial and individualist than the way USA is heading, so... ok.

I can't vote for the guy as I'm stuck in the meat eating end of CA-53, out-voted by the pot heads in Pacific Beach, welfare recipients east of Downtown, and that cesspool known as Imperial Beach.
Thank God for gerrymandered congressional districts!

I agree with this. Also, if you work for government, you don't get to vote for that government. That is, if you work for the IRS, for example, you do not get to vote in federal elections. And if you're working for your local government, you don't get to vote in local government elections. This would partially mitigate the inherent problem of democracy wherein people vote themselves largesse out of the public treasury.
My wife informs me that she would be happy to give up her right to vote if that would bring about getting good men elected.

OOOhhhhh, bald AND an eyepatch -- he's making me hot (sorry-- but not really, as a woman I can have my shallow moments with political canidates like that...I excuse it because I seem to get hot for the type of canidates certain sisters find unappealing and the ones they find oh so sehxy leave me cold).
Guys like this are the ones that make me think of sex -- the kind of sex you have with guys like this...mmm mmm mmm.

Eh, and I'm not for putting any sort of hinderance on women voting -- my two kids were teenagers this election (their first)...they did a better job picking canidates imho, than a lot of 40 - 50 yo. men.
Maybe a citizenship test and/or a gullibility test for the populace as a requirement for voting?

What kind of candidate is Gunny Pop? An honest, conservative, old fashioned pro-American, non-apologizing combat-decorated US Marine. He believes in a strong military, strong borders, low taxes, and smaller government. If you liked President Reagan, you will love this guy. I know him--well. He is the real deal.
Jump to www.popaditchforcongress.com and throw him a few bucks. He can win, and Filner has never had a real opponent. Now he has one.
If you want to learn more, read his book "Once a Marine" (www.onceamarine.com). It is all about his values and character. It will tell you all you need to know. When you finish, you will want to climb into a tank with him as your commander, or pull the lever for him in November 2010.
