1 In the closing days of the open enrollment period for the Affordable Care Act (ACA) , the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) was mailing out letters notifying certain Americans that they had already started a healthcare coverage application on their behalf.

The HHS letter stated that the information they used to begin the application for individual Healthcare was obtain by the state agency in charge of implementing Obamacare.

The next step for the individual would be visit Healthcare.gov and complete the already started application to see if they qualify for “Marketplace coverage.”

8 State Sen. Leland Yee spent campaign donations in recent years to travel to the Philippines, the country from which federal authorities accuse him of arranging to smuggle hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of military-style weapons.

Campaign reports filed with the state also show the San Francisco Democrat spent at least $62,000 at a San Francisco restaurant that prosecutors described as the venue for many events of Chee Kung Tong, an alleged criminal enterprise. The restaurantÂ’s owner also has been charged with knowingly buying stolen liquor from an undercover agent working with Chee Kung Tong members.Read more here: http://www.sacbee.com/2014/04/04/6294438/yee-campaign-committees-paid-for.html#storylink=cpy

9 Watch out for bare butts when traveling in Machu Picchu -- incidents of "naked tourism" at the 15th-century Inca citadel are on the rise, and getting under the skin of Peru officials. Hmmm... I may have to schedule a trip to Peru. Wait. Are they hawt bare butts, or fugly bare butts? This is important to my decision making.

The fugliness of butts depends on how long it has been since you've seen the last one and how that rated on the scale. You can always change your perspective via judicious use of tequila shots.  13 shots and almost any butt goes from fugly to fantastic.

Past experience dictates that the more likely someone is to get naked in public the less likely you are to want to see what they have to offer.

68 Remember it was the democrats in congress who cut NASA shuttle mission budgets in 2006, freezing NASA spending at that level. Seems like it was earlier than that, because I remember the debate about how NASA would get astronauts to the ISS, and the answer from the democats was 'Russian Soyuz.' NASA layoffs started in 2010 when Obama asked, "Why would anyone want to go to the moon. We've been there, done that."

First,  no.

Second,  way to be respectful of modern day Peruvians,  80% of whom are Catholic and probably don't   appreciate seeing   naked dongs    and    puffy labia    flapping around.

87 Putin is unspeakably evil. Bush revealed on NBC’s “Today” that Putin once actually “dissed” his dog — and then followed up a year later by showing off his own “bigger, stronger and faster” hound. “As you know … our dear dog Barney, who had a special place in my heart, I introduced him to Putin, Putin kind of dissed him — ‘You really call that a dog?’” Bush told his daughter, “Today” correspondent Jenna Bush Hager. The Scottish terrier, who lived with the Bushes during their eight years in the White House, died last year. . . . . “A year later, your mom and I go to visit, Vladimir … says, ‘Would you like to meet my dog?’” Bush said. “Out bounds this huge hound, obviously much bigger than a Scottish terrier, and Putin looks at me and says, ‘Bigger, stronger and faster than Barney.’” . . . Bush added: “I just took it in. I didn’t react. I just said, ‘Wow. Anybody who thinks ‘my dog is bigger than your dog’ is an interesting character.’

94 The GOP is dead as a party. You know what my evidence is ... they lost the presidency by running a candidate that supported government healthcare in an election in which the primary issue was should the government run healthcare. Sure, the GOP dominated in 2010, won seats in 2012 (though not the top one), and looks to have another great run in 2014. But they lost the presidency because they are pro-life, so basically it is a dead party.

102 Information Manipulation and Climate Agreements

Abstract

It appears that news media and some pro-environmental organizations have the tendency to accentuate or even exaggerate the damage caused by climate change. This article provides a rationale for this tendency by using a modified International Environmental Agreement (IEA) model with asymmetric information. We find that the information manipulation has an instrumental value, as it ex post induces more countries to participate in an IEA, which will eventually enhance global welfare. From the ex ante perspective, however, the impact that manipulating information has on the level of participation in an IEA and on welfare is ambiguous.

106 I am a lifelong Republican. I didn't vote for President Obama because I couldn't stand the thought of a black man in the White House. But today, as I sit here typing in the old homestead, I am here to say that the GOP lost the last election because they ran a guy who was pro-life. That sort of extremism has no place in the racist, homophobic, misogynist GOP that I loved so much. From now on, I am ready to stop listening to Right-Wing radio and turn off FAUX NOIZE so I can get a better handle on President Obama's plans for the USA, as I can no longer really trust the GOP since they lost the last election because they are pro-life.

Interesting.  How  does this little anecdote speak to Putin's evil?  Because he  "dissed"  Bush's dog?

I think it's more an indication of  the guy trying to play on the whole Texas cliche, about everything needing to be bigger.  I suspect Putin would have thought it might have gotten under Bush's skin.  And maybe it did.

One might question how rational it is for the leader of the Soviet Union  to be trying to  shake the American President this way, but if it worked, then sure.  Why not.

147 A judge told me a pretty good war story yesterday reminiscent of those dreams where you are at work and suddenly realize you are naked. Back when he was a whippersnapper (and he's older than God now), there was only one prosecutor for the entire district so he was very overworked. So one day he has a trial, they select the jury, and get ready for opening statements. The prosecutor began his opening statement and pretty soon the judge and the defense attorney are looking at each other like what the hell? Turns out the prosecutor had brought the wrong file and was prepared to try the wrong case.

I still have dreams every now and then of walking into a class I hadn't been to in a while and realizing we were having an exam. Probably because that happened a couple of times in real life.

190 Me too. Especially since his comment earlier this week about preferring the term "anti-gay" to "homophobic". I asked him for clarification on that, but did not get a response. Posted by: grammie winger at April 04, 2014 12:39 PM I prefer neither. "Homophobic" and "anti-gay" are now being thrown around as loosely as the race card. If one disagrees with anything the LGBT movement is doing, that person is an "anti-gay" "homophobe". It's beyond ridiculous. And it's all over. With the Mozilla issue, in the "trending" area of Facebook, the CEO was described as "anti-gay". So now disagreeing with the redefinition of marriage makes one "anti-gay". This is the same as calling conservative Blacks "racist", because they do not agree with the liberal agenda. The Left has defined what it means to be gay. And then anyone who goes against that definition is then considered "anti-gay", even gays who disagree with the LGBT agenda. So, yeah, it would be nice to know what the AOS resident conservative-ish homosexual thought about this. It's annoying to see him blog about all the things on which he agrees with the LGBT movement, but then keep quiet on things like this (i.e. does he agree with labeling people who disagree with the LGBT movement/agenda as "anti-gay").

First, don't the equipment managers put out all the uniforms for the players in the lockers before the game each day? Second, the jersey that he wore was the usual away jersey (road teams usually wear jerseys with the city/state name on them, while home teams usually wear jerseys with the mascot name on them... so away jerseys say Chicago, while home jerseys say Cubs). The young player took the heat for looking silly, but isn't that the job of the equipment manager to get the jerseys correct? And that "CUBS" away jersey just looked really odd.
