— DrewM 1. Governor Mike "Presidential Hair" Pence of Indiana is considering a run for President.
You should check out that link not just to see what Pence says but how the Bloomberg reporter frames it. Hint: KOCH BROTHERS.
I was pretty interested in Pence in 2011 because I think he has the ability to unite significant parts of the traditional GOP 3 legged coalition.
The Bloomberg story is via @ByronYork.
2. Speaking of Bloomberg, Mike is sure he's going to heaven because God is all about fascism or something.
If [Bloomberg] senses that he may not have as much time left as he would like, he has little doubt about what would await him at a Judgment Day. Pointing to his work on gun safety, obesity and smoking cessation, he said with a grin: “I am telling you if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in. I have earned my place in heaven. It’s not even close.”
Um, ok.
3. Democrats: Hey Kathleen Sebeilus isn't doing anything these days, maybe she should run for Senate this year.
4. Meanwhile in Ukraine, the Russians are winning.
NATO is kind of indifferent on whether or not France should deliver a modern amphibious warship to....Russia.
Can we stop pretending that NATO and "Europe" are serious about anything? Please.
And the real reason for this entire post: A Ukrainian armored personnel carrier doing donuts.

Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Behind Bloomberg's door to heaven would be a very long, and very slick chute.

For what it's worth, Mike Pence has been an excellent Indiana governor. I have a few politically connected friends, one of them a liberal Democrat, who have seen him at work at the statehouse and say nothing but good things about him, personally and professionally. According to those who know him, Pence has a command of the issues and an almost gentle way about him in dealing with other people, whether with him or against him on a given debate. He has a near-perfect memory and an eye for significant details when it comes to legislation. Those are all good leadership qualities.
The downside(s)? Name recognition, for one thing. No one but Indiana knows Mike Pence, and in modern national politics, it takes about a billion dollars and/or a sympathetic press to achieve the widespread name recognition necessary to win a national campaign. Pence is also a very nice man, a Romney-like gentleman. Such men typically don't fare well against hardcore Leftists accustomed to the down-and-dirty of machine politics.
I'd vote for him, but he's my governor and I like him.

THIS. This is what we need. While the SoCons can't win it alone, what the FisCon/social libertarian types forget is that neither can *they*. Hang together or we'll all hang separately.

1) Some people who are perpetually unhappy will try to make everyone unhappy.
2) Some people who feel guilt for their behavior will search for new ways to be moral. (believing in global warming, recycling, shopping at "politically correct" places, eating healthy, etc) They will then judge others according to their new, made-up, moral code and attack those who stray from it.
3) Some people are fucking insane.

That doesn't make me part of the problem. The GOP is the problem for trying to bully me out of my vote instead of trying to win it from me.

The funny thing about gluttony too, is that people like Bloomberg think drinking over 16 oz. of soda is gluttony, but he probably wouldn't be caught dead wearing last year's tie, or one that wasn't made from the finest silks.
Perhaps he should re-read his Bible.

It *could* still be political disagreement, but I doubt over gay issues.
It's more likely that it's some kind of power-play within the company. They've made a decided shift away from Halo with their new game (Destiny- which looks awesome, btw), in that it almost *requires* on-line play (like Titanfall, only moreso, I've heard).
My understanding (and it's limited, 3rd-or-4th-hand knowledge) is that he wasn't completely on-board with that; believing that console games should have a fulfilling game experience that doesn't require shucking out an extra $10/mo to the console manufacturer.

Rove won the two elections he actually ran by courting the people he and others now proceeds to insult and shit all over every chance that they get.
At running a campaign he might be decent (not great since they were both squeakers) but at picking who candidates should be and the methods to employ to win he fucking blows.

Daniels' 'Let's call a truce on social issues' remark alienated me instantly. The Left, for its part, runs almost exclusively on 'social issues'. Concede that ground and you've lost the fight before it even starts.
A Daniels candidacy is a nonstarter, anyway. He balks at running for national office because he knows the press would be all over his wife. It's juicy stuff, and they wouldn't let it go. She'd be torn to ribbons. For what it's worth, I don't blame Daniels for making the decision not to run on that basis. He clearly loves his wife.

Nobody cared that Guiliani was a greaseball wop. Giuliani ran a terrible primary campaign and was one of the worst retail politicians I've ever seen--not a guy comfortable with pressing the flesh with the commoners and completely out of his element once he left the five boroughs. Guiliani's loss to McCain had nothing whatsoever to do with ethnic bigotry.
Personally, I wanted to vote for the guy but he just couldn't make the case.

Like I said, it's fun until you throw a track. Then all of a sudden you want to beat the shit out of your driver.
People think tanks can go anywhere...and that's mostly true....as long as the angle of attack to an obstacle is exactly perpendicular. Every degree you are off-center raises the possibility of bogging down.
Whoever the driver was never should have come around that curve that tight to the apex. That was just asking for trouble.

That banging sound you were hearing was just him shifting into reverse and then back into forward gear. You have to give it a second to "catch" before you take off again.

Assuming the GOPe runs Jeb, Christie, Huntsman, Rubio or anybody of that ilk, I am not voting for anybody for president. Here's why.
Imagine a President Jeb trying to pass a "bi-partisan" amnesty bill. The Congressional Republicans would feel obligated to support their Republican president. And presto! 30m new Democrat voters!
Now imagine a President Hillarita trying to do the same thing. Congressional Republicans would block it. No new Democrat voters.
I voted for McCrazy and Romney, but going forward I'm going to wait until the Republicans run a Conservative or until we get a competitive Conservative party. No more RINOs.

What I find most amusing is how relaxed everyone seems.
Was there any weapon available to the Iraqis that could threaten an M1?

Taking credit for preventing someone from being confirmed who you somehowjust knew would not support the conservative cause but having a memory lapse about supporting Roberts is tragically humorous.
-----
Hey, I supported him as a good choice, but he sure turned out to be a dickwad, didn't he?
Putting up Roberts as a contrast to Sotomayor and Kagan when they all had the same perspective on Obamacare is what's tragically humorous.

Not the world's greatest food, but it is damn tough to mess up breakfast.
Love their covered hash browns and pecan waffle, myself.

I remember eating at a Waffle House in Arizona, and they delivered (eventually) the breakfast special on several little plates, one for the eggs, one for the waffle, another for the bacon. I moved it all onto one plate, and disposed of the extras on a nearby vacant table. Is this a "thing" there? And, if so, why?
If you want breakfast in Apache Junction, go to the Hacker's Grill. Great food, and very inexpensive.

Frontally? No. But very, very, VERY large IEDs could, and did, knock a few out.
You can kill one by hitting it in the engine grill with an RPG.
But first you need to get close enough to do that.

"The Evolutionary Psychology Behind Politics: How Conservatism and Liberalism Evolved Within Humans" by Anonymous Conservative.
I just finished it. I am seeing everything through a different lens.
It is literally national suicide to vote for anyone not K-selected, and this applies to a very large number of Republicans.
Read the book and see. Once a month, he gives it away on Amazon for free. Go to anonymousconservative.com for details and other blog entries. The "Raw Amygdala" stuff is especially good.
It's solid knowledge, and it explains so much that it has a very calming and clarifying effect. I feel like I can understand what is happening and understand the only options for solutions much better than I ever could before.
I think Ace or a Cob should read it and do a post on it.

We lost one that way when it then set off the ammo in the stowage bustle.
Believe it or not, the crew still survived.
A tank that cannot move is as good as dead. It just becomes a bunker at that point, and that's assuming it can still operate its weapons.

I stole this off an Amazon review - take it fwiw....
The gist of Evolutionary Psychology is that liberalism and conservatism are outgrowths of two types of evolutionary strategies in humans, K-selection and r-selection. K-selection breeds children to compete (and win) in a hostile world with scarce resources through a high-investment, two-parent upbringing, late sexual maturation (and monogamy), sexual dimorphism, and loyalty to the in-group. r-selection breeds children for a world with abundant resources through a low-investment, single-mother upbringing, early sexual maturation (and promiscuity), androgyny, and no in-group loyalty. Think of wolves (K-selected), who are tight-knit, loyal, brave and sexually restrained, versus rabbits (r-selected), who have sex with wild abandon, ignore their fellows when they get eaten, and run away from danger instead of facing it. Or, for a human example, compare a white middle-class family from the suburbs to a black welfare queen in the inner city with five kids from four different daddies.

There is a video of an M1 rolling over a car, and an IED detonating from within it as the tank rolled over.
It didn't seem to bother the tank much.

As a Christian, allow me to comment on Mr. Bloomberg's view of Heaven.
God created the Universe. As we can currently see via the series "Cosmos," the universe is - as they say in Boston - "Wicked Big."
As the illustrious fictional physicist Dr. Sheldon Cooper has pointed out, String Theory postulates that there are an infinite number of Wicked Big universes, all running in parallel. God created those, too.
So, Mike, what makes you think that anything you do can impress the being that created all of these things and everything in them, and even the time that they move through?
Pride: the original - and still biggest - of all of man's flaws and sins. The sin of "Me." The statement "obviously God doesn't know who he is dealing with..." said With Feeling.
Mr. Bloomberg, you make a great straight man. It's a pity that you don't realize that what you say makes you a clown...

No, jwest isn't a lefty troll. Lefty trolls have a certain amount of internal consistency. Our boy here, he generally waits for the opportunity to say the dumbest thing possible, then says something dumber.
Sometimes that's lefty drivel, sometimes it's not. Trolls go where the trolling takes them.

The synopsis from the review was close, but still doesn't do the theory justice. The book is fairly short. It is a fairly easy read, too. It clarifies a lot of things about the left and history that don't seem to make sense on the surface.
It's a free book. If you go to the website and get on the mailing list, he tells you when he is offering it for free on Amazon, and then you can download it no-risk. I read it in about 3 days.

There is a difference. Look at, say, DeBlasio in New York: what he says, what he does, what he believes. Compare with Cruz of Texas. Not the same party? I'd argue they're not the same species.

I wouldn't have voted for any Rep or Dem recently but Ron Paul or Dennis Kucinich.
And Rand is testing my patience. The apple is bouncing a little too far from the tree.
Warren? Maybe, if she distances herself from the harridan warhawk rival to her right by assuring, no wars under her term unless we're invaded. Which can also be accomplished by taking the bases out of Europe and putting one on the Rio Grande.
