Napolitano Flip-Flops, Says the System Did NOT Work
— Gabriel Malor

Can a person throw themselves under the bus?

A day after saying the system worked, Napolitano backtracked, saying her words had been taken out of context.

"Our system did not work in this instance," she said on NBC's "Today" show. "No one is happy or satisfied with that. An extensive review is under way."

Genius.

Really?? Is she trying the Jedi mind trick on us??

Here's her original quote:

NAPOLITANO: What we are focused on is making sure that the air environment remains safe, that people are confident when they travel. And one thing IÂ’d like to point out is that the system worked. Everybody played an important role here. The passengers and crew of the flight took appropriate action.

JNap is right now scouring American military records to see what branch Mutallab was in and when to cause this kind of thinking and action

31 I know it's fashionable to jump on TSA today, but the fact is the only real way to secure airline travel - or any kind of public transportation for that matter - is to profile.  Yes, improving our intelligence gathering and communication and training , etc. will help tremendously, but the best way to keep terrorists off planes is to profile. That is what Israel does and it works.  The problem is political correctness and the organizations, politicians and lawyers who worship it, will not allow it.

As to Napolitano, well, she's a hack and should be fired, but doing so would just be empty symbolism.  Yes, a political score for the right, but otherwise it will do nothing to improve our security.

Even if he was allowed to board the flight there is no way that he would be allowed to enter the US so why would security in Holland let him board?

Hmmmm, Napolitano credits her systen with responding effectively AFTER a terrorist attack.  Too bad she isn't a unilateralist cowboy, instead of a senior member of the most nuanced and universally-loved administration ever!  Then we would probably not have to rely so much on dumb luck, which contrary to what you might quite naturally assume, the Obama administration is indeed capable of runing out of.

95 I'm sure this is nothing more than the old high school prank of setting one's fart on fire.

Obviously Janet Her Own Planet never actually tried that, or we would have heard about it - on seismographs.

98 How about an airline that serves bacon and ham?  I'd be first in line.  Mmmmmm...bacon.

Great minds think alike.

99 O/T:  I love the fact the Marine base in Hawaii shut down the beach for The Won and his homies from Chi-town.  If my kid were stationed there and we'd been visiting over the Christmas vacay, I'd be furious.

And if I see one more picture of Wee-Wee heading for the beach with his towel and book (Karl Marx?) in his flip flops, my head's going to rocket off.

Napolitano was Obama's FIRST CHOICE to keep AMERICA SAFE.

Jennings was Obama's first CHOICE to keep our children safe.

Jeremiah Wright  was Obama's FIRST CHOICE for Pastor or mentor.

Obama has ZERO ablity to make decisions.

101 While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. “The guy said, 'He's from Sudan and we do this all the time.'”
Mutallab is Nigerian. Haskell believes the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab's lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.
The ticket agent referred Mutallab and his companion to her manager down the hall, and Haskell didn't see Mutallab again until after he allegedly tried to detonate an explosive on the plane.

102 What a bunch of fools we all are for taking her words out of context!
Here's an idea: She should resign immediately and we all here won't look so stupid all the time!
Someone pass me the pork rinds and a cold can of Milwaukee's Best.

103 "And if I see one more picture of Wee-Wee heading for the beach with his towel and book (Karl Marx?) in his flip flops, my head's going to rocket off".   He's not reading a book, he's writing a book.  "How to destroy the greatest nation in the world in less than 24 months".  Probably make the best seller list when it hits the streets.

104 This bloated idiot said her comment was taken out of context.

Translation: "it was reported".  This word "context"...I don't think the Obamunists use it in the traditional sense.

109 Janet Napolitano and Gibbsy on ABC yesterday with Jake Tapper.  I guess they're counting on no one having seen this, if they expect people to believe this "out of context" b.s.  Not only did she say it, she said it several times and there was a self-congratulatory smirk on her face throughout.  FIRE HER!

110 Just finished listening to Andrew Breitbart interview Kurt Haskell of Newport, Mi.  regarding his seeing/ hearing the no passport issue.  Here it is, 2 days later, and according to the interview, other than the FBI interview with him Dec 25, there has been no follow up from any of the alphabet intelligence agencies.  Good thing "top people" are so diligent investigating.  Sherlock Holmes would be proud.

Yeah, that's the same bullshit the refugee men pull when their benefits workers (gah) tell them they can't beat their wives in America.  "But that's the way we do things back home."

I don't know why no one ever has the balls to say, "Hey, if you want to do it that way, you can go back."

It's clear Janet from another Planet got a phone call from Spinmeister Gibbs or Obama himself...

Just another case of being taken out of context...  I think they don't even really understand what that term means...

How did this woman get elected in Arizona?  What was her appeal to the electorate?  She seems like a world class moron...

Then again, my state elected Client No. 9.

Posted by: tfc3rid at December 28, 2009 08:20 AM (G+0vr)

117 Yep.  From the WaPo story:

White House officials struggled to explain the complicated system of centralized terrorist data and watch lists, stressing that they were put in place years ago by the Bush administration.

It is all Bush's fault.  What?  You expect the current administration to do anything about terrorism or homeland security in the first year?  They had speeches, and the Olympics, and a stimulus handout, and a Nobel Prize to manage.  If only Bush had fixed terrorism forever this wouldn't have happened.

Everything is, and always will be Bush's fault.  At least for this whiny incompetent half-assed buck-passing administration without a shred of capability or responsibility.

At least we know that the Nigerian terrorist Mutallab has been read his "rights", and we know Obama won't allow the CIA to interrogate him, and we know that Attorney General Eric Holder will be more than happy to refer him to his terrorist-defending colleagues at Covington & Burling.

If Mutallab should inexplicably be convicted on terrorism charges, he can take comfort in the knowledge that no government official has a more terrorist-friendly record than Eric Holder, who is currently freeing high-level al-Qaeda operatives from Gitmo with the same idiotic zeal he applied to his release of 16 FALN terrorists under the Clinton administration.

128 Americans must die, so Muslims can fly.

Make Congress fly commercial and stand in the same lines with no special treatment.  You might see some changes.  Yeah, that includes Pelosi.  None of them are any more important than any of us.  They just act like they are, on our money.

Just vote no to incumbents.  They are part of it, or they went along with it and they need to go.

Damn ridiculous.  I'm an American soldier, and I can't fly home on a four day pass without getting 'extra screening'.  I can't fly overseas without getting my passport or military ID checked multiple times.  I've been traveling in uniform and gotten 'extra screening' because my ticket was booked last minute.

For those not familiar, PETN is not some obscure binary stuff.  It is the base explosive compound used in C4, Semtex, and a whole bunch of other common explosives.  When they swipe your carry on with a cotton pad and run that through a machine, they are checking for traces of PETN.  So, this guy has underwear full of PETN, is on a watch list, traveling from Yemen, with no luggage.  And he walks through.  Ridiculous.

And then the administration tries to say that the system worked.  Ridiculous.  Any third grader could put together a more effective security system.
