— Gabriel Malor The words coming out of her mouth have no relation to anything close to reality.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that "the system worked."Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who has been charged with trying to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the jet, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."
How do we know that even this dimbo knows that the system did not work? They're instituting changes to airline screening and in-flight procedures in reaction. If everything were hunky-dory, there'd be no need for that.
This is the Democratic knee-jerk blather, "See, we're good on national security." They can't even bring themselves to admit that it is only an accident of fate that kept the passengers of Northwest Flight 253 alive on Christmas.
Andy McCarthy ties this back to President Obama's embarrassing foreign policy:
Hadn't Abdulmutallab heard that we are closing Gitmo? Hadn't he heard that we're phasing out military-commissions so we can show the world that we give even the worst mass-murderers civilian trials with all the rights of American citizens? Hadn't he heard that President Obama has banned torture (yes, yes, I know, actually Congress banned it 15 years ago — details, details ...)? Hadn't he heard that the president has called for "a new beginning" in America's relationship with the Muslim world? Hadn't he heard that this is our new, smarter strategy to safeguard the nation from man-caused disasters?
How long do we have to wait before we can say that the President's terrorism policy has failed?

There's less a pressure differential between the cabin and the outside air. Just blowing a hole in the side of the plane may not be enough to destroy it.
But if the jet is at altitude, the pressure differential will have other secondary effects. The explosive decompression will often cause the cabin floor to deform and that will destroy the control cables. That would ultimately be what would cause the plane to crash.

However, doesn't our Government, run by Democrats, tell us every day that they know best for us? That they should tell us what to eat, when to smoke and how to live?
How is it that a Government that wants to rule every single moment of our lives is totally OK with letting fate take it's course on an airline and hoping for the best? In other words, it's OK to let a plane full of innocent people get blown up, we have no control of that, however, you'd better not smoke or get fat!
Is it just me, or is this totallyfu*kcinginsane?

what a disasterous comment for the Obama administration politically..... we must hammer this one home.
here's jake tapper calling it "nuts" that this bastard with known terrorist ties is not on a no fly list:
TAPPER: Let me ask you a question. Knowing the president -- I've been covering him for a few years -- I can't imagine that he would hear this guy's father reported to the U.S. embassy that he has extremist religious views, and within a matter of weeks, he boards an airplane with explosives on his person and is not subject to additional security. I can't believe that he would not hear that information and say, "that's nuts." Why did that happen?
GIBBS: Jake, he's heard that information and heard it not long after it was brought to the situation room. That's what has precipitated both a watch listing review and a detection capabilities review, to ensure that one, the information that we have goes through the process the right way and surfaces to those that have to make those decisions. Again, we have a watch list that this individual was on, that contains about 50 -- 550,000 names. So this individual was listed in November of 2009 on that database based on that information. The no-fly list and the selectee list...
(CROSSTALK)
TAPPER: But who's watching him? If he's on that watch list, who's watching him?
GIBBS: Well, again, Jake, I think if you read the papers this morning, you'll find that the name was listed, concern was brought, but the ability...
TAPPER: Brought to who? Anybody can just write down a name. I mean...
GIBBS: No, no, this is a database that a series of agencies enter names into, and a series of agencies draw information from. But again, Jake, the investigation will look backwards and figure out if any signs were missed, if any procedures can be changed about how names are watch-listed. But again, understand there are 18,000 people on either a selectee or a no-fly list. This is a database that contains -- I'm sorry, 550,000 of those names. It's a huge number. We have to ensure and the president has asked that a review be undertaken swiftly to ensure that any information that's gathered and put into any database, that it gets to where it needs to go, to the people that are making decisions.

I'm hearing about new passenger safety procedures. Nothing on your lap during flight AT ALL, no visiting the can during the last HOUR of a flight, more pat-downs. Why? Because WE REFUSE TO PROFILE. I currently average about 4,000 miles of flying per year. Not enough to make a difference to anyone but me, but still -- all roadtrips now, unless I need to cross an ocean.

See, it's like this:
1. The Constitution says that the Federal Government is responsible for national defense. Bah! That's a waste of taxpayer dollars! It's silly ideas like this that allow the Evil Boosh! and his Dark Overlord Cheney to bankrupt our country while starting pointless wars with our misunderstood Muslim friends.
2. All that money we're spending on national defense should be funding things like monuments to Democratic Senators much needed hospitals, green jobs, fixing potholes billions worth of critical infrastructure repairs and minority electoral control community organization and development.
3. Thanks to Obama (Our Lord and Savior, peace be upon him) we have tax revenues away from those pesky, old world thinking Constitutional mandates and are now giving it all back to the people. You know- from each according to their ability to each according to their need... and don't forget the government processing fee of approximately 1000% what it would cost to simply do things any other way.
4. All this further demonstrates why we need government-run health care. Look at that man who burned his hand while tackling the terrorist helping our misunderstood friend put out the inadvertent fire in his pants! In his native Holland, he would have been able to go to the hospital for only the cost of his tax contributions at rates over 150% of US health insurance costs free! Here he had to actually pay for disinfectant, burn cream and bandages with his own money instead of using his own money that we taxed him plus that that we taxed from all his neighbors!
So you see, everything is going EXACTLY as planned you stupid tea-baggers!

Well to the progressive mindset, the system did "work".
Remember, Obama said after 9/11 that we need to "understand the sources of madness". Because you know, it's more important to understand why someone would fly planes into buildings or conversely, light their dick on fire, rather than determining how to prevent the next attack. Or you know having the ability to actually name the enemy. That's just nonsense and nuance.
So it "worked" in the sense that we're now discovering info on this goon w/out addressing the real concern. Oh wait, that's not true. They did take a step backwards by saying that people are now no longer able to get up one hour before a flight lands.
Smart.Power.

550,000 names is nothing for a modern database.
I created a database with over 14 million unique entries and it has to verify hundreds of entries of additional unique records, daily. Used for RF ID scans/verification.
If the record is a duplicate id number it is immediately brought to the user's attention.
Platform: MS Access 2000/Win2000.
Time to verify: 1- 2 seconds.
Created: Summer 2000.
Still in use today with over 29 million records; each unique.
