New Finalist for Blogapaloozastockamont Host Location
— Jack M.

I know y'all think it's down to Las Vegas and New Orleans. But there is a last minute contender for the position of "Host City" for the proposed Blogapaloozastockamont Conference.

In fact, as one of the judges, I am being lobbied pretty ferociously by this latest entry. They even sent me a brief video explaining the merits of their locale.

I think you will agree that this place has a lot to offer the AoSHQ lifestyle. Consider me sold.

what is the best system out there these days?

when i left the gaming world it was playstation 2, with jaguar 64 the close runner up.

i bought a wii for my sister, but it seemed like it was made for little kids. so is it xbox or ps3 that is the better system or are they essentially the same?

More people play Xbox 360 than the Playstation. If you don't have any friends that have either system I would go with the Playstation. It plays bluerays, you do not have to pay to play online, and it comes with memory. With the Xbox you have to buy all that stuff and pay 50 bucks a year to play online.

really? ps3 has free online? wonder how they make money.  Again i used to play n64(essentially just goldeneye), ps2 and a whole lot of Call of Duty on the PC in college. I remember the online thing was just starting for video games.

i am not going to get one any time soon. I just bought a dog , so i am busy as it is, but I do think the games keep getting cooler, at least from what i see.

NEVER will I buy another Microsoft product. It has broken 3 times. If you touch the console while the game is in it, it scratches the $70 game into trash. It is hard to hook up to Wifi and you have to pay $$ to access. I hate the Xbox--it has caused misery. Our old play station 2 is still working as is the nintendo 64. I would always go with play station. Microsoft is also impossible to get help from.

I have xbox 360. It's a great unit, I think. You have to buy a secondary cooling fan for it though, or its liable to overheat. That, and Blu Ray are its main drawback. It's userbase is a lot large than PS3 so you get more action in the online games (which I don't do too much). Also, generally, the graphics on the xbox are better than PS3 (its a slight difference, while you play you won't notice).

Contrary to Dagny, I thought MS was really helpful when I called them a few times. Only so much they can do, of course. But they try at least.

xbox lets you stream netflix movies to your TV. Not sure if PS does that or not.

Ditto on what Mr. Pink said.  The blu-ray play is the key.  You get a great gaming sytem plus a console to watch blu-ray movies and they are a much better viewing quality than regular dvd.

There is only one reason why I'm going to by a PS3.

GoW3 comes out in March!

And they have GoW and GoW2 remastered for the PS3 now too.  I don't think there'll be new content, as some moron told me a few days ago, but it'll still be awesome.

65 62 They fixed the blue ring of death but they couldn't help with internet hook up. It also took forever for us to figure out that if you breathed on the console with a game in it, it was trash. We had to take back guitar hero 3 times because the disc was wacky twice and the guitar once. I, by and large, hate Microsoft anyway. I had to reinstall windows on my son's computer this week and couldn't find my microsoft office disc but had the product key. After destroying the house, I found the disc but the only way I could get tech help from microsoft was to pay $35.00. I also resent talking to india. Once this healthcare passes, it doesn't really matter. we will have lost, even if obama gets killed in 2010-2012. America will be a different country, we will have become a welfare state, and our "right" parties will resemble European Tories and Conservatives who do nothing but tell the voters that they can run the welfare state more efficiently, not that the welfare state needs to go.

82 PS3 can now stream Netflix - you have to get a disc from Netflix (it's free) and then you can stream.  PS3 is overall a far better piece of hardware, but for a long time they were way behind the 360 in game selection (it makes sense that Sony knows hardware and MS knows software).  The PS3 now has a good library of games too.

89 O/T - All of us here at AoSHQ have been regularly blessed by the presence of such intelletual menstrual cramps like palin-steele and honest cloud, that I thought I should pass along another brillian comment by someone who wades in that same gene pool.  The following comment was in response to today's article by Charles Krauthammer - "Travesty in New York"   Here's the idiots comment: I skip Krauthermer's articles because I do not consider him wise or intelligent enough to influence my mind. I don't agree with Professor Feldstein of Harvard, a conservative economist, but I read his articles regularly and always look forward to them, because he relies on facts and makes sense in the conclusions he draws, even if I come to different conclusions using the same facts.

Krauthermer makes no sense and bases his nonsense -playing to the gallery - on anecdotes and cliches.

We are trying these ALLEGED terrorists in civilian courts, through the fairest of legal systems, to prove that they are guilty, and to dish to them their due punishment.

If the facts show that they are not guilty, THEY SHOULD BE FREED. Do you have a problem with that?

Anything else is stupidity led by people like Krauthermer, Cheney, Rumsfeld, who have lowered the prestige of America so much that we even fear the possible outcome of our own legal system. If we don't respect ourselves, if we don't do what we preach, how else do you expect the world to believe what we preach they do? And you wonder why America is losing influence around the world at an alarming rate.

95 Dalaran, where's that?  Only place I've heard of Dalaran is in Warcraft, in which Dalaran is the mage city destroyed by Archimonde in WC3

but you can port everywhere.

You're gonna do this in the wintertime?

Florida, baby! Preferably within driving distance of O'town.

Posted by: BackwardsBoy at November 20, 2009 08:35 AM (ZGhSv)

98 How about Myrtle Beach, SC?

Lots o' stuff to do there even in the Winter, especially for the golf nuts who don't like playing with orange balls in the snow.  Also, lots of outlet malls for the wifey and female morons.

Also, Charleston is good in the Winter when all the tourists are gone.  Best Irish pub in the Southeast there.

Just looked up Dalaran on wiki and now it's a floating city in WoW?  Okay, I guess.

hahahaha. I had to look up Dalaran in WC3. I'm not old skewl enough. It's like the new, improved Shattrath.

105 "Orange balls? When I play in the snow, my balls are usually blue!" The same thing happens to me after a night of twittering Meghan McCain.

+1 Ben

PS3 is far superior to XBox in terms of capability and robustness of the hardware; but XBox is better for DLC and online play.

108 I hear Dalaran is beautiful this time of year and when your not partying the cooking and fishing dailies will keep you busy.

112 Very quickly- Dagobah natives will notice no climatic difference between their home planet and New Orleans (and I'm an NO native). Tatooine natives will notice no difference between their home planet and Vegas.

Seriously?

I live in NO and would be happy to help (up to a point ) as well as attend. Please let me know if there's anything I can do.

120 I'd like to vote against NO, unless it's going to be the week of June 5 - I already have to go there that week, I have no interest in making two trips there.
