— Ace A rather lame attempt at re-branding.
"You call it ClimateGate," she hisses (I guess to Inhofe), "I call it Email-Theft-Gate."
Again, as Treacher says, ClimateGate is about stealing emails in much the same way Watergate was about parking garages.
What a rotten nasty old buzzard. Dumb, too.

Almost two decades before President Barack Obama made “cap-and-trade” for carbon dioxide emissions a household term, an obscure company called Enron — a natural-gas pipeline company that had become a big-time trader in energy commodities — had figured out how to make millions in a cap-and-trade program for sulphur dioxide emissions, thanks to changes in the U.S. government’s Clean Air Act. To the delight of shareholders, Enron’s stock price rose rapidly as it became the major trader in the U.S. government’s $20-billion a year emissions commodity market.
Enron Chairman Kenneth Lay, keen to engineer an encore, saw his opportunity when Bill Clinton and Al Gore were inaugurated as president and vice-president in 1993. To capitalize on Al GoreÂ’s interest in global warming, Enron immediately embarked on a massive lobbying effort to develop a trading system for carbon dioxide, working both the Clinton administration and Congress. Political contributions and Enron-funded analyses flowed freely, all geared to demonstrating a looming global catastrophe if carbon dioxide emissions werenÂ’t curbed. An Enron-funded study that dismissed the notion that calamity could come of global warming, meanwhile, was quietly buried.

Actually, Madam Hag the Vulture Bag, it's not THEFT of e-mails if the e-mails were compiled in response to a legitimate FOIA request, then released to the intertubes by a disgruntled member of the East Anglia Climate Clusterfuck Brigade who didn't want an illegal failure to respond to that FOIA request to occur.
There certainly is a difference between theft by an outsider by breaking into the system, and whistleblowing by leaking the e-mails from within.
But I wouldn't expect you to understand that, Madam, as you are probably still a little addled thinking about Merideth Baxter munching on your cooch.

So true, I hope that once the dust settles (I'm in no rush) we do find out who acquired/released the info. Didn't some Brit reporter get a copy of the info a month prior to the big dump? He might have a way to verify the claims of anyone claiming to be the whistleblower.

A leaker in the CIA gives classified information on how we are fighting terrorism using various programs like tracking money to the NYT who then publishes it. Those people are "heroes" who should be feted and praised.
A disgruntled person at this U.K. college leaks evidence of criminal conspiracy and fraud and they call for an investigation of the leakers.
