— Genghis Chapter XXXXXXXXXVIIIVIIIXXVIVIXXX: “A New Despair: Return of the Prodigal genghis.”
Geez, can’t a person take off a year from this abomination of a nightly thread without you people peeing all over the carpet and driving Maet somewhat insane? I suppose not…that would be too much to ask of you. So, as Ace mentioned the other day, I’ll be pitching in on those nights when Maet’s meds have him otherwise…”occupied.” What did you people do to him anyway? I’m told that he spends a large part of his time these days curled up in a fetal position, rocking back and forth, muttering “the ONT…the ONT.”
(But seriously, MaetÂ’s done a kick-ass job with this mess of a nightly thread and I very much appreciate Ace letting me slither my way back on to the blog. IÂ’m quite certain heÂ’ll regret that decision, as will you)
First, a word from Cyrus in order to fulfill Ace’s longstanding mandate that all posts should contain at minimum 15% ”The Warriors” content:
">
Let the lameness begin::
I think we’ve all been at a bar and heard this one time or another: “My starship is bigger than yours!” Or maybe imagined we heard that, shortly before the bouncer threw us out of the place via the plate glass window.
But now, thanks to The Starship Size Comparison Chart You can put those tiresome arguments to rest and return to the bar with it in hand and scream “starship envy!” into their faces. And even as you’re being defenestrated by the same bouncer, you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you were right. As you bleed-out on the sidewalk.
Been awhile since we checked in on the LOLcat Bible Translation Project. I think that may have been the first tip I ever sent to Ace that he actually posted. And for which he didnÂ’t file a restraining order against me. Sometimes these things slip through the cracks.
But if you havenÂ’t been pious lately, thereÂ’s no better place to start with than The Beginning.
(Selection of tonight's ONT theme song forthcoming as soon as my piece o' shit PC decides to quit locking up on me. But it wouldn't be a classic genghis post without at least a dozen things gone wrong, now would it? Figured I'd better get something up before you freaks started gnawing on the furniture. Go ahead and get started without me.)
TonightÂ’s ONT was written on 100% post-consumer recycled pixels.

Then, Zinn would call the United States a "police state".

My recollection is that what was released was a statement by the Secy of State (or whoever) of Hawaii certifying that she had seen it and he was born in Hawaii. Also a copy of the certificate of live birth. But not the birth certificate.

I've got to say that comparison chart kind of sucks. I've seen another one that might not be up to date with sci-fi shows but I've seen one that went up to a larger scale, including the Death Stars and the big giant thing from Halo. You could also click and move them around to better compare. I'll see if I can find it.

heh...that reminds me of this:
I started here, all there was was swamp. All the kings said I was
daft to build a castle in a swamp, but I built it all the same,
just to show 'em. It sank into the swamp. So, I built a second one.
That sank into the swamp. So I built a third one. That burned down,
fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up.
An' that's what your gonna get, lad -- the strongest castle in these
islands.

Why Britney on Glee or why people make me sad? I admit it was sort of a non sequitar. But I spent all day doing tourist things so I was exposed to the effluence of society in all their glory.

The Vietnamese have a term, Xin Loi, which literally is "sorry about that". In GI usage the phrase "Xin Loi Mother Fucker" is a precise compression of eddiebear's comments down to six syllables. Guaranteed to relieve stress while semi-befuddling the recipient.

This is an interesting phenomenon in that it used to be common. In old Europe, the Monarch would spend taxes on important things - the military, roads, etc AND things like flunkies and entertainment. When money was short, rather then cutting off the flunkies and ice sculptures, the Monarch would stop paying non-connected creditors and businesses.

BTW, I write from my new hometown, Philadelphia on the map but Fluffya in the mumbling mouths of its residents. I'm studying the website cheesesteaktown.com to blend in. So far, the greatest thing I've found is the blonde darling of the banked track, Pretty Judy Arnold, who skated for the Eastern Warriors in the Roller Games league. Pretty was an official part of her name, just like Failure Barack Obama or Sissyboy Keith Olbermann. She's a born-again minister now, 40 years later. But I'm guessing she's repenting some especially shocking and exciting sins from her youth, IYKWIM. Mmm...
Which leads to my contribution to our nightly quota: Hey Warrior... come out and playayay! Warrior Judy Arnold... come out and playayay!
We could all also pick our favorite gang from the Warriors. You probably think you can guess mine, but you're probably wrong. I like the Orphans, the pathetic third-string gang desperate to win the slightest crumb of respect or dignity. I think they're a prototype of the New America Obama has planned/

We were led to believe they were, but they refused - rudely, too. And after they got a budget, they delayed signing it. And then they delayed issuing the checks. And then you had to cash them it in Sacramento or send them express to Sacramento. They fucking pay most people by direct deposit but instead of doing it that way, they could hold on to the money for another fucking month.
It's not like they didn't just pay people for 4 months, but it takes months to process and get approvals and they nickel and dime you to death. So, it was like getting paid for work you did 6months to a year earlier plus OOP expenses PLUS another 4 months.
I hate those fuckers.

448 garrett, put in just over 150-miles this week. And I feel pretty good.
Nice! (Curly Bill just bought it...No, No, NO!!!!)
September is the month for Big Rides - perfect weather, cool temps and the best conditioning of the year. Not to mention Fall Colors and all that shit.
I had a bit of a tragedy last week. I roached my Carl Strong Steel Frame. It was like losing a close friend. I nearly vomited at seeing the damage...It took a 10' gainer into a Rock Garden and was fully trashed from the impact.
Not a single part damaged other than the frame.
My favorite Mountain Bike, ever. Good thing I bought that Pivot this spring.

@456 @418 Hey, Genghis. Nice charts. I've been pouring over them on and off for about 20 minutes.
Did you see the Death Star in there?...how could it not have the Death Star?
Ah, nevermind...the answer is in the FAQ:
But what about the Death Star? ThatÂ’s too obvious to miss!
First, the Death Star is so frigginÂ’ huge that it doesnÂ’t fit on even the largest chart IÂ’ve made. And thatÂ’s even for the low-ball estimate of the size, which brings me to my second point: No one can agree just how big the Death Stars actually were, so thereÂ’s no point in doing their sizes.

Some fuckin guy was telling me today that he might get a job. I said wtf is a job? He said after they give ya free money for 99 weeks, that's what ya gotta get for about 6 months. After that he said, ya just go to this "job" thing drunk, hope they notice and run yer ass off, and then give ya another 99 weeks worth of free checks.
He said it's great, he just wished his wife wasn't doing the same thing. She hides the channel changer near her buttcrack and refuses to buy her own beer or shag his. Unmanageable. Tough to live with he said.

True, but the bubonic plague hasn't been eliminated. Who knows, there might be somewhere in some little town somewhere that has it (smallpox or the plague) but everyone there is immune to it. All it takes is one person to pass it on.

Mid 90s flic, 1995 I think. This was before it was politically incorrect to show Muslims as blood thirsty maniacs. True Lies came out in 1994 and portrayed the muzzies the same way.

I think republicans are more judicious with their money. they don't care what other people think and can't be pressured into giving money whereas the dems want to be one of the kewl kids and can be pressured because of that and end up being sorry they were talked into giving so much money.
I actually wish someone would run a great campaign and win and do it with very little money. I think knowing where and when to pounce with an add is more important than blanketing the airwaves.

True, but the bubonic plague hasn't been eliminated. Who knows, there might be somewhere in some little town somewhere that has it (smallpox or the plague) but everyone there is immune to it. All it takes is one person to pass it on.
It was kind of a facetious joke - but TB is a real worry.

Actually, there's a lovely reservoir of bubonic plague just up the 101, in the hills over Agoura. It's carried by the ground squirrels.

Report: WikiLeaks founder investigated for rape
STOCKHOLM (AP) — A Swedish tabloid reported Saturday that an arrest warrant has been issued for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange on suspicion of rape, and officials said they could confirm "media reports."
The prosecutor's office in Stockholm issued a brief statement saying it "confirms media reports that a foreign citizen has been arrested in absentia" but didn't name Assange.
"The arrest refers to two separate events, one complaint of molestation and one complaint of rape," the statement said.
"The person is arrested in absentia, as there is a risk that he could obstruct the investigation," it said.
Expressen said prosecutor Maria Haljebo Kjellstrand confirmed that Assange, who is an Australian citizen, was the person sought on the warrant. Haljebo Kjellstrand could not be reached for comment Saturday. The prosecutor's office said all information related to the case would be posted on its website.

Is President Obama good for the Jews? For more and more Jewish-Americans, the answer is no.
In a Pew Research Center report issued on Thursday and entitled “Growing Number of Americans Say Obama Is a Muslim” (tragic in its own right), there was another bit of bad news for Obama: the number of Jews who identify as Republican or as independents who lean Republican has increased by more than half since the year he was elected. At 33 percent it now stands at the highest level since the data have been kept. In 2008, the ratio of Democratic Jews to Republican Jews was far more than three to one. Now it’s less than two to one.

Okay, arhooley.
This is what I done.
Doubt it gets past moderation.
No big thang. I spent one year at Tisch School, on a scholarship.
Switched to another school, no scholarship, totally different major, after my NYU experience.
Don't worry about "the whole country" being intolerant.
Worry more about your desire to have any professor, anywhere "validate" your POV.
I'm not saying that NYU professors can't be incredibly parochial in their assumptions and outlook but boo-fucking-hoo!
Make your case.
On the merits.
They WILL ignore or disparage it, if it doesn't fit their agenda but at least make the case for yourself.
Also, if this is a music form that you feel very much about committing to, to the point of evangelizing, you might be interested in hearing any and all criticisms and taking them seriously.
Instead of getting all butt-hurt because some NYU professor didn't pat you on the head for your golden, one of a kind, INSIGHT that "Perhaps because it is the music being made by the same people that the country has been trying to oppress for so long, so naturally they look at it as inferior or subsidiary, but is it possible that hip-hop artists are musical geniuses just as you profess your favorite musician is?"
Such apple polishing bullshit that is, right there...
Talk about received wisdom!
Also, your references to Country Music (not one of my personal favorites, to be honest but I am familiar with the genre) as opposed to "metaphors, double-entendres, and lyrics that persuade you to rewind the song ten times", I gotta say that's pretty laughable.
You seem like a good kid but very terribly sheltered, in cultural terms.
You are right on Washington Square Park, no?
There are tons of new and different things, experiences and people to discover if you just take an hour's stroll away from NYU.
It can't have changed all that much in 10 years or so...
P.S.
I'm not sure that Hip-Hop can be DEMORALIZED.
What?
It can be made sad or lethargic?
I think that you meant DEMONIZED.
But you are clearly not intellectually nor culturally sophisticated enough to make THAT sort of serious argument.
"And maybe it is just because I have been on a hip-hop overdrive for the past twenty years of my life, but when a hip-hop song comes on that has that drum or an 808 I am forced to move, it is second nature that my head begins to bop. Sometimes I hear other genres of music on the radio or when flicking through the channels and I will listen for a moment, but then shake my head and keep flicking through the channels. They just donÂ’t affect me, mentally or physically, as hip-hop does."
You are what, 20 years old?
This is what makes your "head" bop?
Exclusively?
And what kind of weight should ANYONE ascribe to your musical or artistic judgment when you fully admit to being entirely insensitive, in fact repulsed, by any other easy pop genre?
P.P.S.
You might be better served when listening to music if you paid more attention to its EFFECT on you rather than your AFFECT with your peers.

774 Oh now Obama wants the Lockerbie bomber returned to Scottish prison.
What really sucks is that anyone's freedom is dependent on how Obama is polling.

Yo, Deety. Gee, I don't think mine got past moderation either.

777 calling Ann Coulter too liberal. LOL, some people are just plain stupid.
Shocking. When the, arguably most courageous, flame throwingest flame thrower and bomb tosser on your side is anathema because she wont condemn someone on religious grounds...
BTW, is 777 the opposite of 666

781 CDR M
It's only because his polls are going in the wrong (for him and his) direction
While he was polling better Obama Inc thought releasing this monster was playing well for them but now that a shit storm has erupted and this whole"Obama's a Moslem" thing is getting legs he is running for the tall grass.
He really doesn't give a shit about anyone but himself.
Before he was elected I did a whole bunch of comments on how he is psychological damaged goods and now those points I made are being borne out and validated by people more educated than I.
This entire "Obama" charade is an amazing product of marketing.
Flim Flam...
Smoke and Mirrors
He is in the position he's in because he is a sociopath and is simply happy to be sucking on the sweetest plum along with those who invented his persona.

LOL, I don't think I have ever seen a passage in the bible that discusses 777.
But my position has always been that your degree of "religiosity" has nothing to do with whether of not you are a conservative.
But I think ace put it pretty well. "when your belief system causes you to call AC a liberal it is time to reevaluate your belief system".

Thinking animals figured this out after the second or third teleprompter appearance. The one at grammer school killed me.

Heh. A good analogy is that Obama is like a good movie trailer that sucks when you go to see it and you want your $12 back.
And marketed as funny but is really teh suck.

Of course they screw it up by rating the first example on the low side using a case that is not murder at all.

And unfortunately there was no way to just go to the matinee because it was only released in IMAX 3D

Some times it can be justified to beat the living shit out of someone even if they do have tits.

Here's all you need to know about the Code Pink ladies
Posted by: chemjeff at August 21, 2010 05:28 AM (Pm5H8)
We need to stop paying dues, stop hosting "dignitaries" and stop colluding with the very people who are bent on destroying us. I know there are already plenty of touchy issues for candidates to deal with, but I'd love to see a Repub/Tea Party-type address this mess. Pretending that the UN is just a nuisance, as most cons do, is shortsighted. It's a dangerous, corrupt and ultimately evil organization that Americans should have nothing to do with.
Oh, and that Assange story seems kind of too good to be true, timing wise, but the dude certainly looks like a diddler and a deviant, so who knows?

Not too surprising that Code Pink is giving money to Jerry Brown. That boy has a bright future in national politics, yessirree.

No, because what makes 666 so bad is that its a double whammy. Not only does it use 6 but there are 3 of them and 3 is half of 6 making it bad too. So I think the opposite of 666 would only be 7

Yeah, I kinda wish that too.
But he won't.
I fucking feel that.
His vision is skewed, he would be just as happy to be the Leni Riefenstahl to the next Sinaloan narco-terrorist...
Or, get a job at the State Department..
Whatever, same difference.
No?

Meh.
Vic doesn't hit girls.
Sonnava!
Now I have to hit girls.
You all have no idea how much I suck at hitting girls.
Got my ass kicked by Laura Tauras when we were both wearing snow-suits, in 7th Grade and she pushed my face into the only rivulet of running water in the fucking county, in February one year.
Learned a lesson I did...
All or nothing.
