As an student in biochemistry I had to struggle with my experiements.  If the data did not fit my hypothesis, I had to submit to the hard reality that the world as I concieved it may not be the world as it exists.  I had to question the accuracy of my methods, question my hypothesis, and, in the worst case, start all over from scratch. 

The enormity of coming up with original research that was doable, grant-worthy and based on a novel contribution was an ongoing lesion in humility.  Science was an honorable pursuit, and the struggle to apprehend reality worth the pain.

107 What is funny about all the BS hype and the CFL fraud is that even IF the AGW scam was true CFL lighting would make almost zero impact on electricity usage.

Like all other "green" scams, the us of CFL bulbs is only a PR stunt with minimum impact.  The only place where lighting has a significant impact on the average consumer home is a small strip about 50 miles wide along the California coast. There they have no A/C and most homes use natural gas for heating, cooking, and hot water heaters. 

That same area is where the majority of the nation's idiot greenies come from.  They don't really give a damn how much electricity costs because they don't use any. This is why they also "think" that roof top solar panels is the answer to all the energy woes.

Most of the rest of the country, except the extreme North, have heat pumps for A/C and heating. (no coincidence that the North harbors a lot of the greenies as well). Also, most of the rest of the country use electricity for hot water.

Last year I spent $1800 on electricity at a rate of 7.1 cents/kw-hr. If that goes up by a factor of 5 it will go to $9000.  Now I don't know about the rest of you Morons but I don't have that kind of money laying around to throw into a useless hole in the ground.

And that is ONLY for electricity. The price of EVERYTHING will go through the roof as energy prices go up. Remember the hyper inflation during the Carter years. A lot of that inflation was due to energy prices going up.

That was small compared to what the House bill will do to them. Of course, by the time people actually see the impact it will be too late. The government will blame the "evil" oil companies and the evil utilities.  Then what little is left of these companies will be nationalized.

So why are these companies supporting the crap and tax. They have been bribed and CEOs now only look at the short term. They will be CEO for only 5 years at the most and that is ALL they care about.

I think we need to teach more geology in middle and high school science classes. Since life evolved on earth CO2 has ranged to much higher levels than now and life was thriving. The atmosphere is currently near the low end of the historical range.

Looking at the geologic record of estimated CO2 and temps, it does not seem that higher CO2 causes higher global temperatures. Higher CO2 levels would be beneficial to plant growth.

The indoctrination of our young'ns is pretty effective. My nieces' (ages 5 and 11) absolutely love a show called "Fetch" that airs on PBS in the afternoon.

 There is a common thread in all the important global issues that are facing the world. This common thread is world control. The world leaders are in effect being brain-washed into relinquishing their duties to protect their respective nations in the name of doing something for the higher good.
 This would be all well and good if it could be believed that scientists are acting in the peopleÂ’s best interests. But, since when have scientists been assumed to be altruistic? Why is it accepted that they will only act in the best interests of humans? And why should it be accepted that the scientists are correct about human causes of global warming?
 Are not scientists responsible for developing biological, chemical, nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction that have been used to control, bully, harm or destroy certain groups and places? It is not so far fetched to say that many scientific developments are amoral.
 So, should world leaders turn over their moral consciences to scientists who are knowingly or unwittingly working for the ruling elite? The ruling elite have their own agenda, which is definitely not in the best interests of the people.
 The carbon-trading schemes, and other emissions-based solutions presented by the ruling eliteÂ’s scientific doomsdayers, will not solve global warming  climate change. But, if they get their way, they will change the lives of people for the worse. That is part of the ruling eliteÂ’s agenda.

Why?  If you already have an effect from a technology (ie coal) that is known to be beneficial in a peculiar way, why wouldn't you want to maximize its effect at minimal cost compared to other proposals?  (if indeed there really is a problem)

Coal may be "bad" for other reasons, but if its SO2 contribution overcomes its CO2 contribution, then for the duration that you're stuck with coal as a solution (think 20-30 year time frames), it makes perfect sense to optimize it.
