Putting the "Hockey Stick" into perspective. [krakatoa]
— Open Blog

It's important to bear in mind that the discrediting of Mann's Hockey Stick didn't rely on a lack of warming, but rather centered on the rate and amplitude of the warming, and in comparison to historic trends.

Doc @ The Autopsy has compiled the Greenland & Vostok Ice Core graphs in a tidy YouTube presentation which is helpful for perspective.

Anthony Watts adds in the the instrumental data post 1900, as the nature of ice cores require several decades of compaction to form. Even with that data which has become suspect, the point is clearly made. Current warming is far from historic highs, far from unusual in our current 10000 year warm trend, and we should all be far more worried about what causes Ice Ages.

10 The data without their "homogenization" appears to actually negate much of the warming trend. In fact, the data from stations not in cities seems to negate all of the warming trend. I'm starting to wonder just how accurate the global warming thing was now, was the world really warming for years?

Here's an excellent summation of the trick and hide the decline from the UK Daily Mail. (And the Russians admit the data was dumped on a Russian server, but the Russians and their secret service had nothing to do with it with the Russians hinting that they knew who did it.)

Hey, I just found out what an Ugg boots is last night.  They're really sucky-looking!

I agree they are ugly but they are super comfortable and warm, warm, warm. They are so addicitive, it's hard to go to be because it's polite to take them off. It's the first comfortable fashionable woman's shoe ever created.

In a purely fashion sense,  why would WARM boots for women be popular if the earth were actually getting warmer--doesn't make sense unless when the ice age starts bearing down flip-flops become the winter choice.

30 eman: "The beauty of it is most members of the MSM are so stupid and ignorant they don't even know they are being used."

While I agree with the former as far as the actual science and interpretation of it goes, I think they know they are being used, and they agree with it -- agree with being pitchmen. They don't care because they are philosophically simpatico with the "settled science." It's a way to "change the world"... "for the children."

In fact start looking for the "social justice" of global warming if you haven't already. If the peddling of it hasn't been done already, it will be since the climate alarmists are now shooting blanks while the public opinion tide turns. They'll need to tack in a different direction becasue of all the blowback.

Remember when Team Obama and the Democrats were, via the National Endowments for the Arts, trying to synchronize with media of all sorts to peddle Obama/statism but got caught? (See Yosi Sargeant and BigHollywoodcom.) I'm starting to see this theme get inserted into all sorts of advocacy presented as "news" stories. A family member pointed this out to me this weekend in my local rag. Disparate stories had both the philosophy and the exact term "social justice" stuck in.

So while the heat may have died down a bit because of the expose of Sargent, don't think the tactic has been abandoned. The shell was moved and now it's just under the radar. Global warming alarmism is a natural fit for this "social justice." Expect more of the latter even if the former dies down briefly. These facsists/statists cannot afford to give up this fight. It's in their DNA.

And GOP, if you're reading -- now would be a really good time to obstruct. Do NOT let this stuff pass. Health insurance "reform" and Cap & Tax would doom this nation. If you cannot bother to obstruct on this, then there's no point in having you around.

"E-mails stolen from climate scientists show they stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data — but the messages don’t support claims that the science of global warming was faked, according to an exhaustive review by The Associated Press."

Doh, if it is not faked, why would they stonewall skeptics and discuss hiding data?  People who stonewall and hide things do it BECAUSE THEY HAVE SOMETHING DIRTY TO HIDE, DAMMIT.

35 Professor Trevor Davies, the universityÂ’s Pro-Vice Chancellor and a former CRU director, told me. ‘I am certain that the science is rock solid.Â’He admitted that his CRU colleagues had sometimes used ‘injudicious phrasesÂ’, but that was because they kept on being ‘divertedÂ’ from their work by those who wished to scrutinise it. ‘ItÂ’s understandable that sometimes people get frustrated,Â’ he said.  The only lesson the affair had for him was that ‘we have got to get better in terms of explanation. Some scientists still find it quite it difficult to communicate with the public.Â’

So there you have it.  The lying, data fudging, and data destruction is all your fault for being so dense.  You made us do it

38 eman: "What is this of which you speak?"

In news stories it was pointed out to me the use of "social justice" both as an ancillary theme and as a term. I'd never seen it used quite like this before and now it's inserted into several different stories for no apparent (well, compelling anyway) reason. This is not an accident. It's like finding an Easter egg.

The average person will never devote the time necessary to fully understand the "science of global warming". Merely posting the broader definition of “Hubris” with any AGW articles, blogs or OP eds should  end this non-sense as far the general public is concerned.
