— Dave in Texas Serious condition. He was vacationing in Hawaii, report says paramedics responded to a call at 2:41pm local time, which would have been, 3 hours ago Central I think.
He'll Probably Be Fine [ace]: I don't know anything about this, obviously, but anyone with heart pains is going to be in "serious condition," so while heart pains are a danger signal, to be sure, it's probably not the case that he's in grave danger of dying.
The fact they caught this early, and got him to the hospital, is a good sign. A heart attack tends to kill by surprise.
[Dave]: yeah, anyone taken to a hospital with chest pains is going to be listed as "serious". We kinda want them to treat it that way, here in the Pre-Obamacare" health care days.
Morning Update [Dave]: Resting comfortably, according to his website. Meanwhile the lefty blog swamp is full of heartache since he didn't DIAF.
There are a lot of people I don't like. I can manage to not like them without wishing them a painful death. It's not all that difficult, believe me, I'm not overloaded with classy or nothin. Just a smidge.
A Thought [Slublog] - This has been mentioned in the comments, and has been forwarded quite a few times on Twitter:
"The people calling for Rush Limbaugh to die are the same people who ask to control your healthcare."Quite a few of the comments on the #Rush hashtag are toxic. It's amazing to me how people can hate someone they've never met so vehemently simply because he communicates ideas with which they disagree.
Nurturing such hatred has got to be corrosive for the soul.

The weight loss program to which Limbaugh subscribed was the Florida based Quick Weight Loss program. I have been on this program and lost 40 pounds without a problem. It is not a liquid program, but controlls the amount of food consumed by weight, with a strong mixture of meats, chicken, vegtables, etc., eating 5 times daily.

I hope he gets better and takes three months off. Let Mark Steyn fill in.
I was tempted to comment on Rush over the last couple of months but I didn't think anybody would care. Obama is definitely stressing him out big time. Rush hardly takes any calls anymore, and when he does he generally cuts the caller off after two sentences so he can expound on something he already spent 45 minutes talking about. His whole monologue used to be about 45 minutes long and now it normally lasts nearly two hours. I like what he has to say but when you present an argument it's best to buttress from three or four or maybe five positions. But as of late, Rush won't stop until he hits around a dozen, most of which are repetitive/redundant. I've listened to him for about 14 years and in my opinion his show has suffered a lot in the last few months.
I hope he gets his health back, takes a good long rest and learns how to unwind a bit..

This isn't about whether you can continue on "without Rush." Rush is a HUGE force in getting the conservative message out. We conservatives need him, not to reaffirm what we already know, but more importantly, who he can reach...and teach...which he does supremely. I think it's bogus to lay his medical condition on "made his bed, now he has to lie in it crap." ANYONE can have heart problems with or without exercise being a part of it. That was kinda cruel of you, dude.

I know people are upset and worried, but I really think "serious condition" is what you are automatically the moment you have chest pains. It does not indicate that this is a serious situation *for people with chest pains,* that is, not an especially serious case of that.
Any problem with the heart is "serious." The fact that he survived the initial pain and was taken to the hospital indicates a good chance of good recovery.
As you probably all know, when it comes to heart attacks, it's the first one that usually kills you, when it comes all at once and without warning.
so you're saying there's a chance...

They'll stent him and he'll be OK. Really. Back in the '70's when my father had a series of bypass surgeries, I had a part-time job in the Dietary Dept. of that hospital, (I was in high school then) and I remember freezing every time they called "Code Blue" over the intercom and praying that I wouldn't hear my dad's room number announced. Stenting and bypasses were very dangerous in those days and yet the tough old bird pulled through them all, despite having been a 3 pack a day smoker for many years.
Nowadays, the situation is much different. Stenting is almost a routine surgery and I'm sure Rush is in very good hands. He'll be fine. He just needs to take it easy for awhile and start exercising. And yeah, giving up the cigars is a good idea.
No need to see the trash the left is vomiting up - I just showered and don't want to have to do it again. The vultures were overjoyed when Cheney had his ticker problems.

"Fuck that motherfucker, he can eat shit and die as far as I'm concerned, I can't be a phony and try to fake compassion for an overpriveliged POS who has done nothing but use his good fortune to take pot shots at the poor and underpriveleged in this country and their advocates.
Ive never seen that piece of inhuman waste show an ounce of compassion for anyone so as far as I'm concerned he doesn't deserve any. At least he'll get none from me."

Rush has very successful full-time radio hosts fill in for him all the time. I wouldn't call Mark Davis, or Mark Bellig, or Roger Hedgecock or the late Tony Snow "lousy radio personalities."

Not necessarily.
My Dad had heart problems for years. His first one (maybe even two) heart attacks were "silent." Didn't know he even had them. He had quite a few after that that obviously he did know about.
All that being said, modern technology is great. Rush could be fixed up with an angioplasty in a few days. Who knows, they could even fly a doctor in for him.

Wow, I was so sad to hear this news, and my first thought was "Rush can't die, we need him right now!" Like WTR, I started listening to Rush after 9/11. I didn't like him at first (thought he was full of himself, but then I realized it was all tongue in cheek). Now I listen to him whenever I can (Mark Steyn is my favorite fill in host, by far!)
That being said, the one thing that worries me the most about Rush is that he is receiving health care in Hawaii--which is basically not the best, even in Oahu. I really wish he was stateside. The best cardiac hospitals (like Cleveland Clinic) would take the best care of him. Health care in Hawaii isn't quite third world, but it's not in the same league as here. The fact that this happened while he's in Honolulu just makes my heart sink.

I've been in and out of hospitals for the last couple years for my dad. Every time he goes in his condition is labeled serious because, well, it is. Only once was it critical and that wasn't even when he had the quadruple bypass. We refer to that condition as Christmas last year.
I can't believe how many other morons spent Christmas at the hospital with their dads. For about three years straight me and my brother spent each Thanksgiving and Christmas at the ER. I think this makes the third year in a row spent at home. Christmas at the hospital is major stress. Big time suckage.

Nobody should let the vicious comments about Rush elsewhere bother them one bit.
All the disgusting comments the left is robo-posting all around the web about him right now just redounds against their ideology - and particularly against their ambition at the moment to institute the government takeover of medicine.
Normal, undecided people read that hateful stuff and ask themselves: These leftists are the allegedly 'compassionate' people who want to take control over everybody else's health care? THESE are the people who want to usurp my right to decide whether I & my parents & my kids get to receive treatment or not?
I'm telling ya, it was hearing exactly that kind of heartless stuff from the left that turned me from a young skull-full-o-mush lib into a dittohead back in the day.

I actually laughed when I read this comment because the goober who posted it so perfectly betrays his childish nincompoopery.
Note how he believes that withholding his compassionate thoughts deprives Rush Limbaugh of something.
Rush doesn't deserve his compassion, he insists.
Deserve?
Whatever does that mean? Does he believe that the merely thinking "compassionate" thoughts benefits the object of his compassion? And that withholding them harms the object of his non-compassion?
Clearly he does.
Which is why the comment is so hilarious. Leftists never require themselves to do anything. Simply holding the proper compassionate thoughts is enough, you see, and worthy of self-praise in all cases.
Sacrificing for the good of others is completely unnecessary. It's the right thoughts that count. Well, not even that, really. It's the expression of the right thoughts that earn you your merit badge in Leftyland.

Rush gives over $2 million dollars out of his own pocket to a foundation that serves children of fallen Marines and law enforcement officers
I'd be willing to bet "guitar man" cares about as much for soldiers and police officers as he does for Rush. They're all "inhuman" in his (sneer quotes) "enlightened" and "compassionate" view.

I had to de-program myself after five years of OU. Liberal crapfest. My major was in the Political Science department (College of Arts and Sciences). I had a few professors that weren't libtards, and two out of those three were African. Real Africans, that were not down with the victimization/entitlement mentality. I made my worst grades in their classes. And deservedly so.

Posted by: Hatchet Five at December 30, 2009 08:34 PM (VXu1B)
Exactly. I get the same thing in face-to-face conversations with liberals, who say all these things Rush supposedly says but they've never listened to him, but instead just read what other lefties have said or written about him. Of course, those lefties, if they've even heard Rush's show, usually make quotes and/or the leave out the context in which Rush made his remarks (e.g., non-serious sarcasm or humor).
I haven't listened to Rush regularly for years due to my schedule, but I still catch him once in awhile and have been a subscriber to The Limbaugh Letter since the first issue. The things they claim he says are completely made up. Then again, to the Left, conservatism should be outlawed so how can we expect a rational rebuttal from the Left to Rush and the substance of his arguments.
In addition to being a compassionate person loved by those that know him personally, Rush is so important to the conservative movement and the political discourse in this country. I wish him well and my thoughts and prayers are with him tonight.

Wouldn't you love to take a peek at Guitar Man's tax return, and see just how much of his own skin he's put into the game of "advocating" for the underprivileged? If he's like most libtards, the sum total of his annual charitable contributions equals a few worn-out message t-shirts from the '70s, a handful of change tossed into the Salvation Army kettle, and a shitload of patronizingly compassionate thoughts.
But then, libtards don't actually need to do anything tangible for the underprivileged. They just have to say the right things and support any measure that requires the wealth of other people to be redistributed by the government to earn the esteem of their evolved lefty buddies. That's what's so great about being a compassionate libtard; why, it's practically free!

As for the financial sacrifices of Lefties, Cicero hit the nail right on the head in #317. They're always compassionate spending taxpayers money, never much of their own. Good examples were the small amounts given to charity for many years by John Kerry and Al Gore, two of the biggest phonies that exist inside or outside of politics.

Wanna know how serious Barky and crew are about the nearly successful attempt to murder 300 people on a plane and possibly many, many more on the ground?
They were so concerned that they dedicated the resources of the WH counsel's office to look to see if there were any lapses in communication within the intelligence community during the Bush admin post 9-11 that could have allowed a serious incident to occur.
From the article:
.. senior Obama White House aides, including chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, David Axelrod and new White House counsel Robert Bauer, ordered staff to begin researching similar breakdowns -- if any -- from the Bush Administration.
"The idea was that we'd show that the Bush Administration had had far worse missteps than we ever could," says a staffer in the counsel's office. "We were told that classified material involving anything related to al Qaeda operating in Yemen or Nigeria was fair game and that we'd declassify it if necessary."

FAST WEIGHT LOSS THE PROBLEM
I am not surprised that Rush had issues with his health. He recently lost over 60 pounds in a fast manner by dieting. This is not good and weakens your system considerably. Like Rush I am a big guy (a few years younger) and also "yo yo" with my wieght but have tried to get off the weight with exersize.
When he was telling his audience earlier on in the year about his very rapid weight loss I got worried and those worries seem to have been real. Fast dieting like that weakens the muscles of the heart and with his fast paced lifestyle it placed too much stress on that organ.
Rush now has to recuperate and give his heart the time to work its way back. Slow down the pace and later on get into a regular exersize regime.
Rush will come back BETTER THAN EVER. He will be more focused as he has gotten an "intimation of mortality" and will realize he has to play his part in the saving of America and the western world as we know it.
The liberal left is salivating at the thought of 2010 without Rush and are clogging the airwaves and the internet with their intolerant hate and dumbed down thoughts. Don't worry - Nov 2010 is coming and they will be slaughtered at the polls and Rush will be there to help their political demise.
Good luck big guy !!

That is because they are hypocritical bastards who wish death upon people they disagree with. Look at history when they are given full power. What do they do? They kill and dehumanize people that are not "down with the program". Also IMHO that is why they refer to him as "divisive", like people that disagree with the left woudln't if only we didn't have such divisive figures around preaching "hate". So anyones disagreement is not legitimate no no, just hatred and division. Oh if only "divisive" figures, ie anyone that disagrees, can be gotten rid of we would be in utopia on earth!
The only thing missing is cries of "Kill the witch!" or "Burn the heretic". They are what they supposedly hate.

HIV sufferers...as with anyone with a serious disease...deserve sympathy..
...but, on the other hand, they shouldn't be sanctified. .....there was an HBO mini-series called Angels in America..it's.like these folks have been elevated to some sort of holy or spiritual status because they've contracted a disease, in most part, thru unnatural and dangerous sexual practices
I know, I know there are others ways of contracting it, but man-on-man anal sex is the leading cause of HIV transmission.
HIV/AIDS theoretically can be eliminated completely...just using a fucking rubber would play a major part..

433 Isn't it funny how libturds wish him dead and scream from the mountains against the death penalty."
Yeah I have spent some part of this morning reading thru comments on mainstream sites like Politico and the WaPo. Truly vile shit, blatant contradictions, and wishing for his death in the same sentence they call him hatefilled and divisive. Pointing out his past addiction while those are the same people who would excuse Obama's and want to legalize drugs. I view reading those comments, and their sheer number, as a valuable lesson. We need to learn who we are dealing with, not the bullshit slogans they chant at rallies and the crap that gets sugarcoated and thrown on TV to represent "progressives". We need to know who they really are, what they want for us, and most importantly be able to admit it to ourselves in order to move on.

He's paying for his choices. Looks like it is personal responsibility time for Rush.
Also strange, but I don't see the left giving that kind of compassion to the poor, poor terrorists who suffered the "torture" of being water boarded.
A rather twisted sense of compassion priorities: kill a desenting voice, but mercy on those who would kill Americans.

Kennedy killed a woman he was fucking while his wife was pregnant and colluded with the Soviet Union to undermine Reagan. Admittedly, Rush has gotten around a bit, but he never tried to gang-rape a waitress with Chris Dodd. Kennedy lived large on his Daddy's (ill-gotten, don't forget) money, and Rush built his empire with his own work and talent. Kennedy was a lifelong alcoholic; Rush was able to admit and overcome his pain-killer addiction (aside: all the articles this week fellating Brett Favre for making the ProBowl never mention HIS painkiller addiction...).
Finally, and most importantly, Rush hasn't spent years advocating legislation that will prevent you, I, or the lefty assholes celebrating last night from receiving the same high-quality care he and Kennedy received; that was one of Kennedy's signature beliefs.
(OK, they're both white guys, but other than that...Rush is flawed, Kennedy was scum.)

Very simple, I think I need to know what they are. Same reason I watched the Daniel Pearl video. I think we need to learn, by we I mean myself and others, what we truly face here in this country calling itself "progressive". Just imagine yourself, if you had a newsletter or something with your political opinions in it. These same people would wish death on you. They would use government positions to expose your court records and child payment schedule. They would lie about you to their friends. Why not be aware of that fact? I would consider it a valuable lesson actually.

I'm with Mr.Rum and Sodomy ...it's pretty apparent what most "liberals" (I really wish that word would not be abused so) want for people who do not conform to their views of the world (to the letter) -- if you hadn't figured it out after reading some of their comments concerning the "poor, poor terrorists misunderstood people of religion", their comments in defense of partial birth abortion biological freedom for women (still trying to understand how that one makes sense), their comments in defense of death panels/healthcare rationing comprehensive healthcare, their comments in defense of impoverishing the world and leaving many to starve green initiatives for the planet, or any of the other moral pretzels they configure or name calling which they regularly subscribe to, then you're a more patient and forgiving person than myself (to be kind in my judgements).
I believe that many are well meaning sheep who have lost the ability to think for themselves and/or are so desperate for approval and belonging that they would sell their souls and have (these are the ones that usually don't go too much over the line into vulgarity, but are led right up to it which is dangerous and sad); or they have some very serious emotional/psychological conflicts at work with in them and definitely need some sort of therapy...or they are just plain evil, twisted, miserable little Gollums who hate the world, everything in it, and most of all themselves. There is only one way to deal with such people: try to not let them cloud your life too greatly...and try to keep the damage they can cause to a minimum.

Fellow morons, get the lesson: Leftists want to control speech, because actual discussion of their ideas ends in discreditation.
That's why they avoid debate whenever possible ("The science is settled.").
Limbaugh wields nothing but the power of speech. No armies, no weapons, no authority -- just speech.
To the ever-vulnerable-to-ideas Left, he is as dangerous as troops massed on the border or, for that matter, a rabid dog. They cannot reckon with him.
That's why they wish him death. They want all their enemies to die, metaphorically speaking, or be exiled, because that's the only way they can win.
I think there's a kind of parallel to this somewhere in the New Testament. I'll have to look that up.

And only locally at that. There were a few exceptions (I think of Bob Grant as a talk radio John the Baptist to Lord Rush), but generally talk radio was local, local, local.

I got pissed over the article from KITV out of HI. They listed that Rush was addicted to pain pills in the past, hydrocodone, Vicodin, and Norco. What a bunch of asses. Those are the same syntheic opiod. And if you've never struggled with opiod addiction or went thru the hellacious withdrawals, then do not judge. I have spent many days suffering through them, and it feels a lot like dying. You dont, you just wished you would.

I recall the left heaping loads of scorn and vitriol on Charleton Heston when he passed. Why? Because he was a champion of our 2nd amendment rights. Nevermind the fact that he walked side by side with Martin Luther King a card carrying Republican during the civil rights march on Washington while Democrats like Robert Byrd, Bull Connor and George Wallace were fighting tooth and nail to deny them their civil liberties.
Liberals should take a moment to realize and reflect on the fact that along with our men and women in uniform, they are free to expouse the garbage they do because of men like Rush Limbaugh, not in spite of them. Rush would be the last person earth who would want to see them shut up, unlike his progressive counterparts who would very much love to see us denied our first amendment rights.
Posted by: Blazer at December 31, 2009 07:25 AM (t72+4)
That's a great point. Think about this for a moment - Rush Limbaugh has no power to tax, control, or threaten the safety and well-being of The Left.
He can't make laws telling them what they can and can't do. He can't seize their assets. He can't burden them with regulations and paperwork. He can't fuck up their country's economy.
All he does is talk for 3 hours a day and they go batshit crazy over it.
Imagine that. Rush Limbaugh, sitting behind a microphone and expressing opinions is ruining their carefully planned Utopia.
They have Congress and the Presidency. They have control of the media, our schools, and Hollywood. They're entrenched in our governmental bureaucracy.
And yet ... just one guy challenging their ideology is too much for them to handle. He must be silenced. They wish him dead.

Rush (and I hope he recovers speedily) is not important anymore.
He's broken the ground: he's made the talk show a fixture of daily radio. When he showed that a conservative radio personality could draw an hold an audience (thereby showing that there is money to be made) he broke the dam. Of course, Ronald Regan made this possible with his ending of the fairness doctrine. What happened when the people got a taste of this freedom of speech? Wait, no. Not freedom of speech but freedom to listen. What happened when we got the freedom to listen?
When we first heard this, we rejoiced in it. We were bombarded daily in the mainstream news, and by lefty professors in college and by the Hollywood left that sneered at our love of country, our patriotism, and that we valued Western ideals. Suddenly we knew that there were others like us and that we were many.
That is why the Left hates him, he's made us aware that we are many. If he were to fall today, another would take his place. If they were to bring back the fairness doctrine, we'd find away around it. Their propaganda fails more than it succeeds. Rush just showed them how powerless they really are.
And for that they hate him and their hate is impotent.
(and I've just gotta' dip my balls in that...)

Always wonder why there is so much hatred on the dem/lib/left side of the spectrum. They virtually manufacture independents from their vitriol. Wonder why their mamas never taught them the golden rule? Wonder why they don't see that you "get back what you give" and "what goes around comes around"? These people should be so happy and thrilled that they are getting everything they ever wanted from government, yet, they are miserable and filled with hate and the need to have their "pound of flesh". They will have it all, yet, they don't know how to enjoy life and to love and to work hard. Very very sad actually. Far from the American spirit.
At a time when the press has stopped representing the people, we need voices, even the ones like Oberman. We need people to speak out and Rush has never flinched. Hope he gets better soon and comes back to his daily listener audience.
It is kinda creepy that he is in Hawaii with the president. Wonder who else is there? Wonder how surprised we would be if we knew.

Well said. I agree 100%. It has got to be exhausting to live with such an unrelentingly negative outlook on so much of life.
A guy who doesn't agree with the President's policies hopes out loud he fails and the left goes bonkers. The same guy is hospitalized with potentially fatal symptoms and they spew sickening filth wishing him dead, with an absolutely unbridled glee. I just don't get how they don't see their own hypocrisy in this and numerous other instances. It couldn't be more obvious and they're just blind to it. And on top of that they constantly accuse the right of the same hateful, indecent behavior. I just don't get it.
A few of the comments I saw on Twitter last night were just vile. I'm not even going to check the hashtag. I don't need to be that depressed about the mindset of my fellow man on New Year's Eve.

Left wing ideology is almost like a religion to these people. To divert from it can be akin to herecy as far as they are concerned. Hence their hysterical hatred.

Nurturing such hatred has got to be corrosive for the soul.
Which is hilarious since they are always preaching against "hate". When the Bible says, "Do not let the sun go down on your anger, and so give the devil a foothold", it means business.

534 It's amazing to me how people can hate someone they've never met so vehemently simply because he communicates ideas with which they disagree.

HEEEEEELARIOUS ASS YOU are. the poster you laugh at never attributed that which she does not understand to only libs. A plain reading simply states she does not understand the mindset. I am sure she does not understand why any conservative would wish death for a difference in thinking either. Nor do I. I can wish them a lot of things, but death is never one of them.

103 The left is full of demonically possessed assholes who are blind to their own malevolence. I really hate them right now. And I don't hate anyone except terrorists.
What I said was that you can find that very same hatred right here.

I don't see much evidence they have souls. Nobody with a sould could believe what they say they believe.
It is interesting that the ones who get all preachy about the death penalty, and the poor jihadis who die blasting people are in favor of killing babies through kindergarten and wish gruesome injuries or death on people who don't follow their religionbelief-systems to the precise letter.

I have met Rush personally twice. He has been great to me and my family, still sends my dad, a cochlear pioneer, personal cards for his b'day. He has even sent gifts over the yrs. A nicer man you could not hope to meet.

Not to downplay your praise for Rush in any way, but in the old days, before the self-centered, perpetually adolescent Boomers took over, this kind of behavior was known as simple, common DECENCY. I know many people that do the same kinds of things---and most of them are conservatives. Imagine that!

I started listening during the post-election fracas in November 2000, because it became so unavoidably obvious that NPR, CNN, etc. were misrepresenting, obfuscating and omitting huge piles of facts. I KNEW I was not getting the whole story--so tuned in to Rush for the first time to see what he had to say. Sure enough, he wasn't just offering opinions, he was filling the gaps in the NEWS reportage that were left by the MSM. And the MSM has only gotten worse in the last 9 years---and thus, Rush has gotten more and more necessary!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hang in there Rush. America needs you more than ever.

Hmm... haven't read any death wishes on powerless proles.
Did kindergarten let out already, or are you skipping school?

If someone was on the radio promoting ridiculous nonsense, dismissing that person and the ideas they promote would be easy. This is why conservatives and libertarians don't get upset over the antics of Air America. We get annoyed and shake our head in disbelief that anyone could be that out of touch with reality, but we don't get viscerally angry. I'm just glad that I'm not afflicted with whatever mental disorder it is that they suffer from.
When Rush comes on the air and says things that leftist know to be true but wish were not, they come unhinged. They want him to be quiet and stop interfering with their willful ignorance and self-delusion. So naturally he is a target of extreme anger and hatred. Leftists are determined to live in a delusional state of mind and cannot tolerate anyone who forces them to confront reality.

Name me one liberal celeb who gets a reasonably pay check that allows common workers to get better pay? Roadies? Make-up artists? Movie set workers? Hell, even truck drivers in that industey.
No! I want 12 mil for 6 months work!

Rush has shown just how indispensable he is, since 2008. Conservatives have so few effective advocates. He's taken a tremendous number of shots from Dems (including the NFL veto), but he has come on strong. An incredibly smart guy, too.
