The "magical black character", or magical black friend, is a supporting stock character in American cinema who is portrayed coming to the aid of a film's white protagonists. These characters, who often possess special insight or mystical powers, have been a long tradition in American fiction.

Get some EmergenC from a pharmacy. Flavor: Tangerine. It helps.

Also, fresh garlic in soup (added with serving). Or, if you really want to be cured quickly: heat cup of V-8 juice 1 minute in microwave and add 1 minced clove of garlic before drinking. It will clear you sinuses. If you have a sensitive stomach, maybe not advised.

Hope you feel better soon.

Even repealing Roe v Wade would only turn it back over to individual states. Its like they huff glue all day or something.

140 Companies including Bank of America Corp. and Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) have contributed $20 million toward the cost of the Democratic National Convention, helping fund an event that Democrats initially said wouldnÂ’t accept corporate money, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Organizers of this yearÂ’s convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, turned to corporations after the cityÂ’s host committee struggled to reach its $36.7 million fundraising goal, according to the people, who requested anonymity.

Last year, the Charlotte host committee set up a separate entity called New American City Inc., to take corporate cash and to which Bank of America and Wells Fargo contributed, according to the people. The two banks were on a list of corporate donors released Sept. 1 by the host committee that also named AT&T Inc. (T), US Airways Group Inc. (LCC), Duke Energy Corp. (DUK) and the law-and- lobbying firm McGuireWoods LLP.

162 Bart Stupak was a vital swing vote in the Obamacare debate 2 years ago. As a pro-life Democrat he could not support ObamaÂ’s signature initiative without some assurance that abortion would not be covered by the monstrous healthcare overhaul. Following an Executive Order signed by President Obama that supposedly ensured that abortion would not be covered, Stupak declared victory for the pro-life movement. This in spite of the fact that many had said the Executive Order was toothless and would not prevent anything. It seems Mr. Stupak has finally realized this.

Won't happen. The promises made were political lies and will not be made whole. What will happen is the numbers will be recalculated down based on new law which will adjust one set of arbitrary, false numbers for a new set of smaller arbitrary, false numbers. At best.

253 Drudge says the Dems are including taxpayer funding of abortions in their platform, and no restrictions, ie support for late term abortions.  If they do go all abortionpalooza, I'd love to see a PAC ad right after the convention ends telling people about that Philadelphia abortion butcher Dr. Kermit Gosnell.  That story was under-reported last year when he was arrested, and people should know what really goes on in some of those places.

They don't even have to say the Dems support Gosnell, but this is what can happen without even minimal restrictions and oversight.  In fact, to avoid being criticized a la the cancer death ray ad, they could even go so far and say Obama didn't support Dr Gosnell's crimes, but he does fully support unrestricted abortion right up to birth (bet a lot of people don't realize that).

Out of bounds?  The Dems would go ballistic, no doubt.  I know RR want to stay focused on the economy, but issues like this and O eating dog really turn people's stomachs.

296 Media availability for Obama officials and acolytes has been shut up as tight as a clam for conservative media here at the Democratic National Convention. According to sources at Talk Radio News Service, placing a stringer outside the designated TV area to ask high-level Democrats to stop by radio row has been banned by the DNC – in fact, as one source told me, “You need permission from Obama for America.” Meanwhile, top Obama outside advisor and head of the Center for American Progress John Podesta stopped by radio row this morning – but only long enough to speak with liberal talkers. When I approached him about appearing on KRLA’s “The Heidi Harris Show” along with me and my co-hosts Heidi Harris (conservative) and Brian Whitman (liberal), his handler quickly intervened. Later, the handler stopped by to clarify: did the show have two liberals and one conservative, or two conservatives and one liberal? When I stated that it had two conservatives and one liberal, he quickly shook his head and sprinted away. Pussies

I think the political classes of both parties (and Walker, although awesome, is also a pol) really misread Clint's stint with the empty chair and did not realize that it was a hit with ordinary people. They are used to carefully scripted and vetted speeches and got nervous when they saw an old guy up there seemingly winging it. I cut Walker slack on that one. Historically, when incumbents lose big, they do so for sound reasons: The public sees their policies as not working--or worse yet, as failures. That's certainly increasingly true of Bush today. From the chaos in Iraq to an uncomfortably soft economic recovery to the passage of an unpopular Medicare bill, the White House is having a harder and harder time putting a positive spin on the effects of the president's decisions.

237sven10077: "The unfunded liability monster while daunting can be controlled if we force the able off welfare."

Won't happen. The promises made were political lies and will not be made whole. What will happen is the numbers will be recalculated down based on new law which will adjust one set of arbitrary, false numbers for a new set of smaller arbitrary, false numbers. At best.

It's an illusion. The ludicrous liability will be written off - like magic - and the paper gains (from the recipient POV) never realized. An epic boning is inevitable.

That is what is happening in Greece as we speak.

Cutbacks in benefits, no prescription medicine, because the government has not paid for the last years worth of medicine, and the drug distributors are going broke, possible electricity shortages because they state has not paid for the electicity they bought in the previous quarter.

The Greek results are suicides, people abandoning their children, and mass unemployment.  Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money.

We could put any number of people in that office who would make an effort.  Heck, my 21 year old niece would make an effort.  Doesn't mean she'd deserve election.  America is not looking for someone to make an effort.  They are looking for results.

You may or may not be disappointed to learn that most 'wasabi' served in restaurants is actually green dyed horseradish. Real wasabi is hella expensive and I don't think Japan exports any of it.

398 The I for incomplete rubric is just plain stupid.  It takes an enormous amount of time, effort, and money to even get a party nomination, let alone become POTUS.  You are applying for a damn job, the hardest job in the damn world, in which, you will be literally in charge of not just America, but, the Free World.  People live and die because of your command decisions.  Everything you do or don't do, affects everything.  So being a lazy, petulant, mendacious, effete, effeminate, narcissistic, and ineffectual poofter makes you supremely unqualified for the job.  If, by dint of racism and careful stage management, you get the job, and then fail to do it because you are a lazy, petulant, mendacious, effete, effeminate, narcissistic, and ineffectual poofter, We The People are supposed to just let you keep the job because you want to keep your pansy posterior on AF1?  Not just no, but, HELL NO!

Bain Capital Ventures Fund I (launched in 2001) managed wealth for “endowments and foundations such as Columbia, Princeton and Yale universities.”

Major, center-left foundations and cultural establishments also have seen their prospects brighten, thanks to Bain Capital. According to the aforementioned sources, such Bain clients have included the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, the Doris Duke Foundation, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Ford Foundation, the Heinz Endowments and the Oprah Winfrey Foundation.

Why on Earth would government-union leaders, university presidents and foundation chiefs let Bain oversee their precious assets?

“The scrutiny generated by a heated election year matters less than the performance the portfolio generates to the fund,” California State Teachers’ Retirement System spokesman Ricardo Duran said in the Aug. 12 Boston Globe. CalSTRS has pumped some $1.25 billion into Bain.

Since 1988, Duran says, private-equity companies like Bain have outperformed every other asset class to which CalSTRS has allocated the cash of its 856,360 largely unionized members.

Is Bain really a gang of corporate buccaneers who plunder their ill-gotten gains by outsourcing, euthanizing feeble portfolio companies and giving cancer to the spouses of those whom they fired? If so, union bosses, government retirees, liberal foundations and elite universities thrive on the wages of BainÂ’s economic Darwinism.

Reminder of our media's history:

MSNBCs Chuck Todd from May of 2004:

"A Kerry Landslide: Why the Next Election Won't be Close."

Including a section entitled:

"Bush: The New Carter

Historically, when incumbents lose big, they do so
for sound reasons: The public sees their policies as not working--or
worse yet, as failures. That's certainly increasingly true of Bush
today. From the chaos in Iraq to an uncomfortably soft economic recovery
to the passage of an unpopular Medicare bill, the White House is having
a harder and harder time putting a positive spin on the effects of the
president's decisions.

Odd how Chuck Todd isn't penning any articles on Obama in the same vein, eh? (http://tinyurl.com/25aza)
