That "Singing House" has a purty mouth.Posted by: Andy Sullivan's Residence
Fake or real? Here's the answer.
Here's a bunch of stuff at The New Editor:
Chris Matthews greeted Parker Griffith's party-switching by calling the GOP "The Party of the Confederacy" and shrieking that all the GOP had was "Dixiecrats" like Parker. Hey, you know how much Matthews likes those who switch parties or otherwise thwart their parties; so I'm as shocked as you are to see this unanticipated venom. Old, by now, but since no one actually watches Chris Matthews (well, those 58,000), this is pretty much your only chance.
Victor Davis Hanson writes (full article linked at TNE):
Asking why would Obama & Co. be so self-destructive to push through an array of proposals that have no more than 45% of the public?s support is like asking whether the English Prof who teaches incomprehensible Foucauldian theory worries whether he has only 2 students, or whether the well-off union boss is all that upset that membership has sunk to 30% of the workforce, or multimillion-dollar-earning Sarah Palin-interviewing Katie Couric is worried about her sinking ratings, or whether the New York Times columnists are upset that their mother paper is broke with subscription and readership down, and laying off thousands of blue-collar employees.
Matt Welch of Reason looks at Obama's claims on his health care plan and decides "You lie!"
And this is so surprising I'm not at all sure I believe it: US Manufacturing is generally robust (despite the recession), and not, in fact, dying or almost dead?

"The party of the Confederacy", 'eh ?
You can fit more people in an average McDonalds than people who actually watch his show. My guess is, about three people including ace heard him say that.
Thanks once again for taking one for the team ace. You couldn't provide enough hookers and blow to get me to watch him.
That doesn't mean don't try though.

The GOP started out to eliminate slavery.
(Yeah, I know, you keep reading Chomsky's buddy Zinn's history book and it doesn't say that at all...try a real history book next time.)

Increasingly, Foucault's work (along with Deleuze, Serres and a few others) serves as a remarkably insightful critique of the fascism of the progressives. That many continue to buy the false distinction between socialism and fascism (of which the original progressive movement was very closely connected with, and Obama's policy practices are impossible to distinguish from) is disappointing because so many of the academic intellectuals should otherwise be able to see that the works they hold in such high regard effectively destroy their leftist political advocacy.
Check out LewRockwell.com's perspective on the relevance of Foucault: http://www.lewrockwell.com/dmccarthy/dmccarthy9.html

Ahhhhh, the Demoncratic party. The party that gave us the KKK, George Wallace, Bull Connor and "Sheets" Byrd.
I wonder if Chrissy is aware that MLK was a registered card carrying member of the Republican party?
Nevermind.

It will probably also include making a crude dwelling out of cardboard boxes or a lean-to out of pine branches manufacturing.

I call BS on that manufacturing page and agree with PA that there is something unlisted or unmentioned on it. How else to account for over six million manufacturing jobs lost since 2000 (including mine)? And if we're third on that chart, how can we be the largest manufacturer?
Back when I was running my last shop, I tried to find a local vocational school that taught machine shop in the Orlando area looking for some fresh-face recruits. I could not find one.

Not true. Manufacturing in the US has grown pretty steadily over time, even during recessions. But that's because economists are measuring the output of goods. When the rest of us think "manufacturing" we think of jobs, and the number of Americans employed in manufacturing has continued to shrink in good times and bad.
As American labor got more expensive companies in the US added more machinery (especially when computers became cheap), trading large numbers of low-skill jobs for a few high-skill jobs. These plants are highly productive. Manufacture of items that couldn't be automated went to countries with cheaper labor.

Keep in mind a decrease in manufacturing in Oceania now means an increase. Kind of like how our rations have now been increased from 15 kilos to 10 kilos a month.
Thank you Big Brother !

We still produce autos, heck, all the world's auto-makers have plants here in the US and that's a big part of it.
Plus, NOBODY does tractors or earth moving machines like 'Muricans! One of those massive belly-scrapers alone cost half the GNP of Ivory Coast!
Finally, until 2010, allthe advanced medical devices add to the total. We'll see about these next year.

Well, I'm off. And I'm also leaving to go to a gig tonight. My favorite watering hole has reopened with a couple of old friends as a new part of the ownership (who are also old friends). We're supposed to install a new sound system tonight and try it out for the blues jam we have every Thursday. So, it's time to go make a joyful noise and celebrate a Birthday.
I'd like to wish Ace, all the co-bloggers and my fellow Morons and Moronettes the very Merriest of Christmases.

That's US manufacturing only vs other countries' entire GDP.
I've linked this before, but US manufacturing as a share of the global total has actually increased.
The "bad" news is there have been huge productivity gains over time, which means companies need a lot fewer workers to produce more. But to pretend the US doesn't manufacture anything is nonsense.

b) be an actual leader.

Merry Christmas, y'all.
We're having a soggy Christmas. Had thunderstorms all night. The weather radio was going nuts with tornado watches and warnings, flash flood alerts, etc. Would have loved to have turned it off, but was too afraid to miss a tornado alert. <yawn>
I only have about 6 more gifts to wrap and no big plans to cook, so I'm chilling with the kids...

I, uh, needed the money. And I swear after July I'm never going back except to take my niece and nephews to Revolutionary War battlefields and teach 'em the good stuff about their American heritage they won't learn in school.

Moments after mentioning the health care bill he refers to dems as mainstream and reps as radical.
You're in a debate and someone calls you racist, what do you do? I'm leaning toward "punch him in the mouth" but that doesn't quite work if you talking on video. Plus the fact that Shaq is the only person with a fist big enough for Mathew's face.

52 You in SoCal or Florida?
Northeast Flori-Duh, for what it's worth. We actually have winter here for about 20 minutes in January. Once, it got down to7degrees and 20 yrs. ago this day we had 2" of inch ice with snow on top. Florida homes have very little in the way of insulation.

They do realize Stalin disarmed all the peasants first, otherwise this ends badly for them.

I'm like this is going to suck so I say "do you want wireless?" and she says "why yes I do". I say well I will go get a router and hook it up for you if you want. She says "ok". So here I am.
