About the hydro shock. Jacked hollow points don't always expand. I forget the percentage but I think it was around 30% due to a number of factors include what material(clothing) the bullet passes through. Still .40 is a pretty effective round even if it doesn't expand.

Industry officials said the new effort would include increased pressure on mortgage companies to accelerate loan modifications by highlighting firms that are lagging in that area.

Treasury's program, known as the Home Affordable Modification Program, "is targeted at the housing crisis as it existed six months ago, rather than as it exists right now," the report said.

Treasury's Reilly said the expanded program would, among other steps, make more aid available to struggling borrowers and expand the number of organizations providing help.

Black Friday appears to have held the line with 2008, but nothing more. This means that more people are buying cheaper stuff, or that lots of people simply stayed home this year. End-of-year numbers from Wal Mart and Target should be interesting.

The economy has stopped shrinking, but that doesn't mean it's expanding again. Any year-over-year growth rate of less than 5% or so is essentially the same as maintaining the status quo (i.e., bleeding, but not yet dead). Past recessions since World War II have generally been followed by a sharp uptick in economic activity in the following quarters -- but this recession promises to follow a much longer and shallower path upwards.

Unemployment is likely to remain above 7% indefiinitely, barring some major technological or economic breakthrough; that means that a lot of the jobs lost are gone for good. Employers are not going to staff up until the implications of legislation like the health-care bill and cap-and-trade are settled. (This "jobs summit" is going to be a huge waste of time, and is mainly window-dressing for Obama to show how "concerned" he is.)

The job market is going to be very tough for the next three to five years, I think.

When I saw this story begin on FOX, I thought "here we go again," but the report went on to say that the judge "punished" the bank because the homeowners had been reliable payors for years,  lost jobs and tried everything to get the bank to even talk with them about making some sort of financial adjustment.  Apparently the lending institution took bailout money and gives a big "F.U." to customers trying to contact them.

Not saying what the judge did was right, but after hearing about the bank's attitude, I couldn't get too worked up about it.

I was starting to get the idea she played for the other team.

I looked further into the story. The guy was initially OK on his loan but at the height of the bubble he refinanced the house on an "interest only" loan in order to finance his new business. And like most new small buisnesses, it went bankrupt. He quit even making the interest payments and was way behind.

There is not a lot of "restructuring" you can do to an "interest only" loan when you re not making ANY payments on the interest. All I saw in the Fox article was hyperbole from the judge, and little on actual facts that warranted voiding the contract.

One thing to keep in mind about Fox on-line. Night shift and weekends are dominated by the liberal editors.  They make no effort to clean up AP.
