Well Look Who Woke Up: Obama Condemns Iran
— Ace

Credit where credit's due. Finally he's condemning the regime. A bit late to the party, but still, helpful.

"The regime's attempt to govern using fear and tyranny will not make the legitimate aspirations of Iran's people go away." Close paraphrase. He did use the Boltonesquely undiplomatic words "fear and tyranny."

Oh, no, Ace! You're praising something Obama said in a speech just minutes after "Mildred Pierce" accused you of being a hater who could never say the One could say or do anything that would meet with your approval. (And I wish you would stick to the Reichwing talking points, Ace. This agreeing with Mildred is disturbing.)

Too little, too late and above all, it's just rhetoric, just as his campaign speeches and promises were empty words. Other countries, such as Canada, spoke out immediately.

Obama, as a narcissist, is indifferent to any peoples who are focused on something other than Him. The Iranian people are focused on democracy and are not interested in any kind of love-in rally for Obama. Therefore, Obama has no interest in them.

He's speaking out now only because his Handlers at the White House, who are the real governance of America, have told him to do so and have provided the script which he reads in an indifferent voice.

Posted by: ET at December 28, 2009 11:39 AM (qknAX)

20 Bah.  The bastard is probably making up for it with behind-the-scenes promises to send a few billion bucks over to Iran to cover the expenses involved in suppressing the dissidents.  The public speech is nothing but a front to hedge his bet, just in case the current regime is overthrown.  For which he will then claim full credit and demand a second peace prize.

I would have preferred a ? after that word... and, considering his yakkety yaking with Iran so deleterious to the confidence of Iranian democratic revolutionaries, I think him "bearing witness/whatevet" hardly enough to impact Arachnid.  [Frankly, I see Iran as a great opp for Barry to pump up his "tough guy" bonafides and do right thing at same time... but , since it is what Bush would/has been doing it's doubtful Rahm will allow it]

I was at Berkeley in 1979 during a great influx of Iranians to that area, leaving as the Shah replaced by guys in long beards Carter apparently related to.  Their stories about the darkness that would come over Iran has proven quite true.

I was a history student, but learned more about what is happening today from enjoying the lamb kababs at Bongo Burger than in classes.

Most Iranians are not nearly as hostile to Israel as the regime is, but whether any but the most committed protestors would welcome any help from Israel is unlikely. As a LawyerÂ’s version of Liberty is "Justice"Â…

But to the Iranians and American people... Liberty is not "Justice" .. It is Freedom from the clutches of Authoritarian Regimes that control all aspects of the quality of life; subjecting one part of society over anotherÂ…

Israel's airport security screens for terrorists - no holds barred.  You give off a hint that you've even thought about committing an act and they'll have you tied up and sweating in a back room.

In the good old USA, the TSA screens for weapons and God forbid that any profiling goes on.  We will continue to be a target by terrorists because they can adapt to our security changes faster than we can regulate to block them.

Isolated extremist?

Hey, it could happen.

Or it could simply be that he is parroting what he knows the American people want to hear.   Either way, the Iranians are getting a message that the President has very little leeway here and will be driven by the politics on the American street, and I think most Americans have had it up to their wazoo with these idiots in the Middle East.   (My friends in Israel excluded.)
