— Ace The sixth victim -- remember, he's up to nine accusers now -- adds new details to her claim of actual sexual assault.
In a recent interview with the Times Union — her first public statements on the matter — she described what happened when she reached the office on the second floor: The governor came out from behind his desk, and began groping her in a sexually aggressive manner.
"And that wasn’t just a hug," she said. "He went for it and I kind of like was, 'Oh, the door is right there.' ... I was mortified that a woman who works here is going to come in and see. ... I was terrified of that happening, because that’s not who I am and that’s not what I’m here for."
As panic set in, it flashed in her mind that insulting the governor could cost her the career she had been working so hard to build.
"I said to him, I said, 'You’re going to get us in trouble,'" she recalled. "I didn’t know what else to say. … It was pretty much like 'What are you doing?' That’s when he slammed the door (shut). He said, 'I don’t care.'"
He walked toward her a second time.
"I remember exactly what I was wearing," she said. "I remember him slamming (the door) so hard that I remember thinking to myself that I’m sure the staff is, like, 'Is everything OK up there?' He came right back and he pulled me close and all I remember is seeing his hand, his big hand. I remember looking down like, 'Holy sh_.'"
The governor, she said, had reached under her blouse and his hand was grasping one of her breasts over her bra.
"I was just so confused and so taken aback by it. … He never said anything, which was odd," she said. "At this moment, I don’t know what to say — I don’t know what to do. Now my hives are coming out. I’m, like, swearing in my mind. I remember I walked out and he walked back into his office. ... I remember going downstairs and escorting myself out and going to my car and sitting there for a second and going, 'OK, I have to now go back into the Capitol, go back to my desk and do my job and pretend that, like, that didn’t just happen.'
"I didn’t have another choice. I remember (thinking), 'You have to pull yourself together … even if you have to sit here for a couple minutes to do that,'" she continued. "If I told someone, I’m done. And who do you tell?"

Here again I have to point this out. Plenty of times I have wanted to insult my boss, and didn't because I was worried about my career. That is a daily occurrence. Sometimes hourly.
But WTF? I know women are different handle things differently, but the concern here should be that she was just assaulted. The concern should be about looking for another job, or the implications of going to the police or HR and how that will affect her career. Like the woman biden assaulted - that was a normal and legitimate response.
I am not saying she wasn't assaulted, I am saying that it sounds like he pushed things too far and she had once chance to come forward of forever hold her peace. I put no weight it years old revelations by adult women in high positions who decide to come forward against a guy on the defense.

fair enough, but if it was traumatic, I have a hard time understanding that a woman would not get another job. Yes, it harms the woman's career but career harm due to shitty bosses happens all the time to men and women. We are not talking about people who would be out on the street if she losses her job. These are not coal miners.
But that is besides the point. Yes, this is terrible, and yes no woman should have to endure this at work. Yes, the men should be strung up by their balls at the city gate. But at the same time I think years late revelations should have no evidentiary value. Too often they are fabricated against Republicans and I feel the same way. I've mentioned that I was assaulted by another diplomat when I was a junior officer. When I was working a watchstander shift during a war, he came into my station, pulled me from my chair, put his arm against my throat and assaulted me. When he left, I reported the situation to the marine guard at post one and went home, then came in early the next morning to report it to the personnel officer. She blamed me, refused to do anything further in protecting me from him, and told me that if I pursued the matter, I would risk my career. As a naive 25 year old, I believed her. I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel to Kung Fury. There's some legal hassle holding it up though. But it's quite possibly the greatest visual entertainment ever created by the hands of mortal man. Shakespeare at the beginning and Kung Fury it's final perfection. And now a sequel. Hopefully.

There's a whole lot of "protect my job" because jobs aren't always easy to get and a vindictive person might make double sure you don't get a different one. There's also, frankly, always going to be a calculation before a woman fights back. That goes with any sort of physical abuse. Men are always bigger and stronger than you. So along with "protect my job" is "protect myself." So she's going to try to get away safely. Once she gets away safely then the questioning starts, "Did I do anything to make him think I was open to that sort of thing?" "Am I over-reacting?" So maybe you tell a friend what happened, and see if your friend thinks you were over-reacting? Then you start thinking, well, it's over. If I can avoid him from now on then it's over. Or maybe, like at least one of his targets, you start looking for a different job so you disappear quietly instead of making a stink.
Honestly, men put up with unbelievable abuse at work, often for years, before they decide not to take it anymore. Long (often unpaid) hours, emotionally abusive bosses, unnecessarily miserable conditions. Why would you? (The miserable conditions used to be much worse before women started to be in more work places, supposedly, hey, we never *needed* a functional washroom before, amiright?)
The number of men who walk off a job the first time a boss is abusive is miniscule.
It's just that the abuse is usually not sexual.
So how do you talk yourself into sticking it out?
