— Maetenloch This is from his Nov. 4th podcast and isn't really a surprise to anyone who's been following California's decline into a bankrupt, busybody state. It turns out that when you make doing business (or just daily living) difficult and expensive enough, the people and businesses that can will vote with their feet. And when putting in a pool costs $100K+ well even Jay Leno says uh, no thanks.
The rant part starts around the 13:30 mark but the whole show is worth listening to. And yes there is cursing.

too damn real and in the present tense?
Or that everybody's on the stage, and it seems like
you're the only person sitting in the audience?
Skating away on the thin ice of the New Day.

My only beef with Corolla - who normally is a genius - is that I believe he was an Obamaphile. Hopefully that has passed like a kidney stone.

I don't remember him picking a side in 2008. And you might be able to file that under "Shut Up and Sing" because he was an FM morning radio host at that point whose main job was to be funny. He's definitely not one of the idiot celebs who pushed to get Obama elected.

Solid rant, but frankly "cock" sounds kind of weak unless you're British. Try "cockbite" or "cockholster."
Now that we have Flush-it-down-Brown back, we'll see how long it takes to make California a "commerce-free-environment."
Carolla does eventually get to the core point - do the politicians want 20% of something or 35% of nothing?
Brown is incapable of learning that lesson, so it's either a recall or next term before that can be fixed.
Everybody who thinks you can cut off California and leave them to rebuild, three things: it always costs more to start over than to do it right the first time, you can't cut it off and you'll end up paying for it anyway, and THEY NEVER LEARN.
You can't TEACH the left, you can only get them out of power. They will keep digging forever. I mean, freakin' Detroit.

Two recent CA tickets (revenue getters, I mean): $109 for cross the street too slowly and $270 for speeding in our little suburb.
I wish I could leave but the family is here.

Or it's a bailout to the increasingly union-heavy state via Uncle Obama whereby responsible states get - using a phrase Carolla would approve - beaten and raped. Again.
Knowing our country today, I'm weighting odds heavily to bailout... because of the safety/children/spin-du-jour.

Runaway Liberalism is a scourge. At some point, you may have to leave without 'em. Or bring 'em along but not before dumping any progressives in your clan. We really need to work at containing the rot.

Carolla was never a full-blown Obamaphile. I recall listening to his radio show shortly before the election, and he told everyone he never votes, chiefly because he's cynical about all politicians.
I remember him saying some nice things about Obama back in '08, but it always seemed somewhat perfunctory to me, as if he realized he was surrounded by Hollywood liberals and he couldn't afford to burn every bridge. But even then, I remember him talking about visiting Texas shortly before the election and seeing all the McCain signs and contrasting that with all the Obama signs in southern California, as if he was trying to gently remind his bedwetting liberal co-host Teresa Strasser that there was a big world outside her cocoon.
Ever since he went to podcasting, I've noticed he's felt freer to let his libertarian attitudes come out more. I don't think he'll ever become a Dennis Miller-style conservative, but as a generally more profane version of Instapundit (libertarian on economics and social policy, hawkish on national security), he's fun to listen to.

That was the greatest thing I've ever listened to. Carolla is a genius.
How in the f*ck did his witless sidekick from the Man Show end up getting the big show?

I want to add something else...this is an example of what the far left has in store for the REST of the country...If you think that this can't possibly happen, think again. They've perfected this process in CA, and unless you take a stand, coming soon to a state near you.
For this isn't just about construction. Extrapolate that out to EVERY area of life and now you'll understand what it's like to live in that state. Total regulation and waivers for only the most powerful, and the rest take it up the arse. And then you're told that it's for the greater good.
