Ahem. There is a new poll on the Nevada Senate race
— CAC

Gerg may not like it. But I suspect much of the rest of you will:

[nothing was here, ever. Tightfaven and "concerned" moisteners of mattresses need not worry]
[recap:
Reid 45%
Angle 49%
Amongst Men, Angle leads by 15.
Amongst Women, Reid leads by only 5.
In Clark County, Reid leads by only 4.
In Washoe County, Angle leads by 4.
In the rest of the state, Angle absolutely kicks Harry's ass.
None of the Above down to 2%.
Independents breaking for Angle by a 55-38 margin.]
link to the poll here (to the CBS8 newssite outside the realm of RH)
Oh btw... Angle's best showing since they started tracking the race.

New polls for Washington Senate should give people hope, and Gerg hives.

50 The whole abortion thing is a moot point.  Roe v Wade is not going away without a constitutional amendment, and with ~60-70% of the public happy with things the way they are, such an amendment would never be ratified by enough states to be adopted.

Ergo, its a dead letter.  A waste of time, that kills electrons and photons by the gazillions every day.

Posted by: Purple Avenger at October 29, 2010 07:16 AM (VjZNj)

51 Here's an interesting bit of O/T: The Civil Rights Commission (remember the testimony from DoJ lawyers -- including J Christian Adams -- a few weeks ago?) has issued a report saying the DoJ dropped their voter-intimidation case against the Black Panthers under political pressure.

http://wapo.st/byHAep

Note that the WaPoo claims the Commission is "dominated by conservatives and libertarians" (like the one who used to work for Pelosi, right).

I refuse to link to TepidAir where I saw this first. "Poppin' Fresh" obviously considers it an interesting tidbit in the "game" of politics, and lacks the balls to see it for what it is, which is something worthy of an impeachment trial for Osama Obama and a series of criminal indictments.

68 Sharon Angle is not going to vote to confirm Obama's supreme court nominees regardless of how total her stand on abortion is. So worrying about whether she is against it in cases of rape or whether she just opposes its federal funding doesn't matter. So when women make a decision about who to vote for because of a level of dissatisfaction in the degree of abortion opposition is useless.

96  For most social cons, the whole game is things like parental consent, federal funding, age restrictions etc. Many people would like to see abortion disappear, long term. But only if it was popular enough to do so. Even those of us who would like to see Roe v wade overturned see abortion as a federalist issue. Leave it up to the people.

The problem with abortion today is that social libs get to use the "rape, incest" canard when most of the abortion debate centers around relatively minor things. Because of this, people aren't even aware that child pregnancy centers are shut DOWN by abortion groups. The "keep your hands off my body and my choice" meme fails when abortion groups try to shut down debate and make me PAY for the actions through healthcare.

I oppose abortion with every fiber of my being, but I think it should be legal. Planned Parenthood should be defunded, though. Let them have to act as a business should. They'd probably be sued, though.

As I used to say back in my card playing days when I through down a straight flush with a couple of hundred in the pot, "HELL FUCKING PUSSY-ASSED YES!!!"

It really wasn't all that well recieved but I didn't give a fuck as I was raking their money into my pocket. I don't care if it's well recieved now either:

HELL FUCKING PUSSY-ASSED YES!!!!

98 I'm not a troll, concerned or otherwise. Just a poster who has posted all kinds of stuff for a while here.

100 Abortion is a non-issue largely because at the current rate, it's dying by degrees over time; I doubt there is going to be a big initiative on the federal level, simply because the pro-Life folks don't feel it's even needed just now.  By the time the Court gets around to a reversal, it would probably be a formality.

Which ain't to say there won't be places that still allow it, but it would be contained and isolated, like as not.  In some cases, you can drop the 'r' and work with evolution just as well.

101 Didn't Sharron Angle get sued, too, for stealing the hard work of the Las Vegas Review-Journal's reporters? I thought conservatives respected property rights above everything else.

That hash looks awfully familiar.   Isn't that the same hash used, yesterday, by Northeast Elizabeth & palinsteel?

I'm vehemently against Roe v Wade because it turned the Constitution into the Supreme Court's toilet-roll. As for my thoughts on abortion itself, I'll admit, I'm a coward.

I look at it this way: our debt, entitlements, and spending are in such crisis proportions that the pro-life / pro-choice arguments are becoming moot. If we've got a situation where the US Government is just a few years from collapse, like the ancien regime collapsed, or go into hyperinflation, from not being able to pay - then we lose our democracy (at least) and we don't even get a say on whether to be pro-life or not.
