17 Can't the House simply end earmarks unilaterally? All appropriations bills must start in the House. So, they just don't pass any with earmarks in them. The Senate may, if they are stupid, then pass their own version with earmarks included. Fine. Then it goes to a conference committee. At this point, the House negotiators simply say "No." No earmarks. In the end, every bill must be voted on by both houses in the exact same language (post conference committee). The House simply needs to show it is serious and refuse to approve conference committee outcomes that include earmarks. In fact, does the House leadership even need to bring them to a vote?

Though I've been around for more than a few elections, I'm still surprised by the devotion shown by Palin's followers. To me, she doesn't seem to offer any strengths that would make her a particularly wonderful national candidate. Like many other politicians, she's good at attacking opponents and offering vague -- but laudable - sentiments about What Should Be, without offering specific remedies for the problems she sees.

I'm all for seeing her go into the '12 primaries if she chooses. Put her record of accomplishments and her ideals against other would-be candidates and see who looks best.

But the negative reaction of many members of the general public to her is going to be a real problem, one that she needs to address. If she listens to the those who praise her unstintingly (while hurling epithets at anyone who has questions about her) and does nothing to alleviate the concerns of the undecided, she'll lose.

Well you're going to need a fairly unique situation to pull it off.  Name recognition of the write-in would be needed, and really under most circumstances you're going to have the name recognition candidate being on the ballot without need of a write-in

I don't think it would turn up much.  You'd essentially need to catch them fabricating the ballots, or else constantly monitor all polling stations and tail anyone collecting and delivering ballots to prove that there is no way for the ballots they have claimed to find could have come from that location. 

Its sort of like the Democrat argument that we don't need to require ID at voting precincts because there hasn't been any evidence of voter fraud occuring that way.  Well no shit, you don't require ID so there is no way to determine if the person voting is who they claim to be.

- after the surprise of the upset, the MACHINE in Alaska sprang to life and used all its tentacles to get huge vote advantage within the entire Native Association network and the leverage of the PORK to all those living off Federal dollars... which is a large part of Alaska.

Look, Alaska lives off Federal Pork because the Federal Government controls about 80% of the land and on that land are resources. So, most of the State depends on Federal largesse and Murkowski controls that.
Miller proposed that Alaska get control of the land and the resources and develop them so Alaskans could generate their own sources of income rather than looking to a Federal Government that will have less money to give to the states in the coming years.

Alaskans who voted for Murkowski voted for the short term fix rather than the longer term solution. Money in the hand speaks louder than the promise of more in the future.

The MACHINE is going to get Murkowski re-elected, got Harry Reid and Pelosi and Boxer re-elected too. They play dirty and until the Conservatives either learn to dismantle that corrupt MACHINE or create their own, these sort of problems will continue.

yeah let me clarify that, this state under DEMOCRAT leadership petitioned Holder and his corruptocrats for an extension for the absentee ballots, the majority being military overseas. They did not make the petitioned deadline and a lot of them have been completely disenfranchised. Having said that, the ones that will be counted that were returned on time will still trend heavily R in my county(Wayne) as they have in every election.

Devin Nunes intimated on Batchelor that there were problems in CA and the party and the lawyers were doing something and there would be an announcement.  I posted that on here and the next time he was on Batchelor, Batchelor had on tow of his looney...pretending to be center commenter who both swore up and down that the vote was the vote and Nunes should just shut up and that was that.  Nunes was on with them and he concurred.  So I'm guessing they read about it on here and Nunes was successfully trounced.

If you are using a saw the guy on HGTV said yesterday that you need to make sure the blade is fully spinning before you cut down.

If you are using a box go the opposite way first and then start cutting.

Also, now you've created some scrap wood so try the cut out first on that.   Also, for corners I usually angel in with a saw so it fits together better.   And, don't forget professional painters fill in the gaps with white stuff in a caulking gun and make it look great.

Yeah, if they had actually been saying only the Senate then they should be able to say where they admitted the House was lost, and I bet they never made that claim.  And really with how often you posted about them here you couldn't have been wrong on every single time.

They are double speak talker types and they so taunted me during the weeks up the election.  Saying they knew and the polls were wrong and stuff like that.   But, the NY election almost feels like votes didn't matter like everyone looked the other way and BO's pick waltzed into the spot.  It feels scary almost


a lot of people really have no faith in the election process.  Real people are making random comments in walmart.  Everyone laughs but many a serious thing is said in jest.

I bought a nail gun when I realized that a project I was in the middle of required about 500 small nails. It's a battery powered gun with an air hose fitting (never used it) for big jobs. Nice and portable, and I don't need a compressor!
